Same here. Used to be that I only fully cleared it whenever there was a birthday party in the family. So four times every year. Not nearly enough to keep it clean. Once a month would obviously have been better. But hopefully I can keep up with what I have now. Just making sure to clean up every night what (if anything) has accumulated during the day.

Goal update for day 10/28 (Wednesday) of the challenge!

 

Nutrition

I really don't want to fail the Batcave quest this week, as I've already failed the other quest.

So I need some structure, and probably some more help.

 

This is the definition of the quest

 

Mindset: NaNaNaNaNa BATCAVE! - 40 XP

To complete this quest, you’ll need to make 3 new changes to your daily environment that will remove steps to build a new healthy habit you’ve selected. You’ll also need to add 3 new barriers into your life to keep you from falling back on a old unhealthy habit you are replacing or limiting.

 

So I basically need to come up with six things to do. Three to encourage/simplify positive things, and three to make it more difficult/take more effort to do things I want to stop doing or limit. I'll mark the first three with a + and the last three with a -

 

This is what I have so far

+ Clean my desk, and keep it clean

+ Permanently hang a pull up bar

+ ???

 

- Unsubscribe from email lists that are just distracting me throughout the day

- Install some kind of plugin/extension or something in my web browser to limit the time I spend on Facebook, at least during work hours

- ???

 

So I know I've asked for inspiration/help before. But please, any suggestions for the remaining two upgrades I can do to my batcave? :)

I think I just figured it out on my own :)

 

Habit I want to build: Keep a clean desk

Upgrade(s):

  + Clean my desk and find a better, permanent, place for some of the things that always seemed to come back to the desk (like the printer)

 

Habit I want to build: Exercise three times a week

Upgrades(s):

  + Permanently hang a pull up bar to make the workouts more time efficient

  + Find a jump rope so I can practice for my boss battle

 

Habit I want to limit: Checking my email too often

Upgrade(s):

  - Unsubscribe from five email lists so I don't get email notifications so often

 

Habit I want to limit: Spending too much time on Facebook (at least during work hours)

Upgrade(s):

  - Find some plugin/extension to my web browser to limit the time I spend on Facebook

 

Habit I want to limit: Drinking energy drinks every day

Upgrade(s):

  - Move the drinks from the fridge to the very far end of the attic, so I first have to go up and fetch the drink in the dark, and then chill it before drinking

Great ideas for the batcave quest! The drink one is clever, I think - unless you want to drink warm energy drink (which sounds gross to me) the chilling time offers a built-in limit to how many you can drink, and also gives you time to think about whether you really want it.

    • Ate an apple with nut butters in the evening

    • Forgot all about stretching today :( Super sad about this one. Need to check my criteria for this goal. Hope I didn't totally failed this challenge now!

Now that I'm not doing the "Nutrition: Don't drink liquid calories" quest this week, I'll take the opportunity to do "Nutrition: Can I Still Drink Alcohol?" instead :) 

 

Nutrition: Can I Still Drink Alcohol?

To complete this quest, follow the steps listed in the Alcohol page to develop a healthy plan for drinking for: 1. Every Day 2. The next party you are going to.

 

So,

1.) I'll maintain my current way of drinking. This usually means that I drink alcohol at most one time per month, or even one time every other month.

2.) We're going to a birthday party tomorrow. I'll allow myself to drink two glasses of wine, and one snaps, if I want to. Nothing else.

You don't have to jump high :) But when you are not jumping very high you have to be fast with your hands.

It's all about training. Maybe there are some youtube videos?

Hmm, I also think your jump roping issues are due to technique - I have zero explosivity in my legs (my friends make fun of me because I can't jump) but I can still do it. :D I jump pretty much only from my ankles as you only need a teeny amount of height. My knees and hips are almost completely extended, except for absorbing the impact a bit. I have a speed rope though so it might be a little easier to move my wrists quick enough without having much height, but I think the principle still stands. I'd second Arkania's tip and find some youtube tutorials - you can definitely do it!!!

 

And try not to be sad about not being able to do things you used to! You have a completely different body now compared to when you were a kid and sometimes it takes a little time to relearn old skills. And learning completely new skills can take a very long time! But that's fine. :)

Yay! This means there's still hope (sorry... :Pfor me! The lower you jump, the more important timing gets! So I guess I'll need to work on both trying to jump just a little bit higher, but compensate it with a spot-on timing!
