traaki is resolute.

Second verse, same as the first:

1. Go for a walk twice a week.

2. Salad lunch three times a week.

3. Finish one of my cross-stitch projects.

4. Work out twice a week; ride my bike once a week.

For those of you who followed along last challenge, you may notice that *nothing changed at all*.  After the trip (which was awesome!) I'm feeling a need to re-establish these patterns after a successful challenge last month.  I have so many things I'd like to add (Writing! Decluttering! Going to a PT to see about my knee! Fitness classes!) but I've been down that path before...and down that path lies burned-out traaki.  If this is going swimmingly, then maybe I'll add in another goal. But for now--this is it.

Week one report!

1. Go for a walk twice a week. 3/2

2. Salad lunch three times a week. 1.5/3

3. Finish one of my cross-stitch projects. 0/1; Days stitched: M, Su

4. Work out twice a week; ride my bike once a week. 1/2; 3/1

As I settled back into my work routine, I had a harder time returning to salads than I anticipated--I blame this on just being emotionally overwhelmed at work. I want to focus on getting this up again this week.

Walking and biking were both big wins. My cross-stitch project was honestly just *slightly* out of the way and so I failed to stitch much--but now it's by my desk and I think I can finish it this week.

Workouts were kind of doomed from the start, since I started the challenge late and Monday is one of my workout days. I feel confident this week will be better.

(Massive youtube video of a real rabbit vs turtle race).

Slow and steady.... you've got this.

This made me laugh SO HARD. I sympathize with the distracted rabbit....but I 100% idolize that very focused tortoise. Thank you for sharing this; it's in my bookmarks now.

I love how everyone, audience, owner, filmers, everyone is just like "come on you silly stereotype!!" and the rabbit just.... doesn't care. Still makes me smile, thinking about it. Hopefully work calms down a bit, but nice work on week 1 anyway. Keep it going.

Hi, friends!

This week has been a big success in terms of workouts and cross-stitching.  I've had less success with walks and salads and as I'm writing this, the culprit is staring me in the face: I haven't *scheduled* time to work on either of those. Usually salad club is achievable, but right now we have no veggies in the house and weird, I'm not eating salads. I also don't have time scheduled to buy the veggies I need. Wah-wah.

Gotta think harder on where this walk time will come from. If I can tie it to some regular schedule or other activity, then I *know* it will happen. Hmmmm.

Any stores that sell vegetables within walking distance?

Super good point. The closest store is a little over a mile--longer than I hoped, but totally do-able. Thanks for the idea!

Real mixed bag here.  Walks were a total fail, but with the recent innovation of SCHEDULING THEM, I'm hopeful for this week. I have them on my calendar AND my to-do list for Tuesday and Thursday.

Salad lunch...well, we finally have a ton of veggies stuff in the house so tomorrow I'm going to SLAY at salad club.

I FINISHED MY SECOND CROSS-STITCH!!! That means I have two more and then I'm *DONE* omg so excited about that. New quest is to finish designing #3 by the end of the challenge so I can stitch a bunch on our road trip during zero week.

Workouts went well! My bike is in the shop...I thought I could take a walk to the bike store before work and then bike home, but alas, they don't open early enough. So I am going to grab my bike on Wednesday to make sure it's in my hands for Friday's ride.

Overall, it went okay. Basically flip-flopped from week 1, so maybe week 3 will bring it all together?! :D

Third times a charm, eh? Slay the salad club... no wait....

Hahaha, poor salad club :D

This week has gone pretty well.  Done with workouts and biking for the week, plus I'll be eating my third salad for lunch today.

Walks are still...not going well. I think the issue is partly that it's during the night/family time and nobody else is on the walking wagon. Still, I'm going to make it happen today and one other time this weekend.

Also, as promised, cross-stitch photo:

It's...slightly off-center. Considering keeping this one for myself and making another one for the person who bought it. I'm also close to done with my third design.  Over half-way there! Woohoo!!!

Grats on a successful salad and workout week. Would it help to code walk time as you time, to destress and relax before wrapping up the day? That stinks that no one else is on board (we had no choice when I was young - family walk, suck it up and get out there), but could it be turned to an advantage at all?

LOVE the crossstitch. Don't be too hard on yourself with off-centered-ness; I can't tell, even after you pointed it out. Keep up the good work, you're doing great.

Thanks!

I do love the idea that it could be "me time".  I just went for a walk and it was short and also awesome.  I failed this weekend but I'm not going to be hard on myself....we had two house guests (one unexpected, one planned) plus some family drama, and it was just...a lot. I was so people-d out that working today has been a huge relief, tbh.

Boo for drama, and I hear you on being people-d out. Back when I was doing outdoor walks, I loved the solitude and peace of being out after dark. Don't know if that's feasible where you are, but walking with even a dummy pair of headphones in means people leave you alone. Has this week improved at all?

This made me realize I never got around to posting my last week results:

Week 4:

1. Go for a walk twice a week. 2/2

2. Salad lunch three times a week. 0.5/3

3. Finish one of my cross-stitch projects. 0/1; Days stitched: 4

4. Work out twice a week; ride my bike once a week. 2/2; 1/1

Our fridge went out and ... life was hard. Feeding myself at all was pretty tough, much less eating salads.  I did manage to make a salad one day to accompany some spaghetti so at least there was that.

Overall I think I'm going to keep this exact same challenge....again. Walks still feel a bit tough.  Salads are hard when I don't have materials but I'll get there.  I made a ton of progress on stitching and I should be finishing the third of four projects very soon.  Working out is going pretty well.  So, ONWARD IN A BORING FASHION!
