Arkania's life will be cleared to the base with downshifting

Recommended Posts

after I chased myself and eventually (sort of :D ) catched myself, I wasn't (and I am still not) happy with how my life is right now.

The last two days I had days off.

The last challenge I was really struggling because I wanted to much and had no "spoons" (Spoon Theory) left for everything.

For maybe years (but definitely months) I tried the same approach over and over again.

But:

Quote

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”

Henry Ford

So I have to accept that the approach I tried the last months doesn't work anymore, at least at the moment.

But I have to train this. I have to learn.

That it is no problem to...

... don't track my food intake. Because then the intuitive eating will be there again.

... don't exercise 7/7. My body won't be a blobb after one week.

... don't do anything for a whole day.

That it is ok....

... to fail. But I have to learn from it.

... to create habit after habit and not all at once.

... to have a great life (from the outside) and still can rant about things that are not good.

So it is all about downshifting this challenge. There is so much stuff in my life actually that I can't hear ME. My body. My mind.

So I will cut off almost everything. And then I will listen to my inner self. (Wow, that sounds more esoteric than I meant it to :D )

Like a retreat. A daily life retreat.

I thought about focusing on one habit I would like to establish.

10k steps?

Morning walk?

Something fitness related?

Or maybe a morning routine that has everything in it (reading, movement, meditation) like the Miracle Morning?

Meditation?

But that would be the same as always. See the quote.
So I will write down things I like. And want to achieve. Sometimes.

I will try out things that I didn't do for a while. And things I think would be good for me. But not as a "have to (daily)" but as a "my body says it wants to".

Because that is what I experienced the last week. When I listen my body speaks.

And when I do what my body/mind tells me, it is great.

This is also for eating habits. Weighing when I like to. Not daily. Not weekly. Eating when I am hungry and then what I am hungry for.

(And I will try to not rant and mimimi here all the time ;) )

Here for you an interesting Yale course I found:

https://www.coursera.org/learn/the-science-of-well-being

As always (ok, sometimes :D) todays song:

Ok, for the start you get two ;)

Debriefing

The questions are:
1. what should have happened?
2. what really happened?
3. why were there deviations, differences?
4. what can I learn from it?

Interesting Highbrow Courses:

Understanding meditation and the science behind it

Mindful Eating

Findings

1. Roasted Veggies #1: Broccoli and brussel sprouts are yummy, beetroot is ok, pumpin and sweet potato I don't like that much

2. I think I now also have a problem with either broccoli or brussel sprouts, I felt reaaaally bloated and not good the days I ate that stuff.

3. And I think I don't like pork sausage (Fleischwurst) anymore.

4. Eat before doing sport!

Great. Now I have Purple People Eater stuck in my head. :P

I'm glad you are tapping into your body's intuition this challenge. I have learned that about every two-three challenges I need to dial back and have a more spiritual, reflective challenge. This time I decided to have fun with my challenge.

Well done. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Journal 15/10

Eating: Was ok. Could be better. At lunch I didn't really listen to my body so was really full. From 1-5: 3,5 :D

WDID*: Worked from 6.30am to 3pm. Weather was great. Went home, had a nap. Started reading a book. Oh I like these kind of books so much  May finish it today. If not then tomorrow. Then watched a horror movie. Was not that good. 2hrs wasted time. Enrolled fpr the well-being course at coursera and for a highbrow course. 3

Feeling: Felt great this morning, even if I only slept 5hrs (yeah, mondays and thursdays are worst because I have to be in the office). After nap I was still in a good mood. Now it is ok. Not really good but also not really bad. So 3.

*What did I do?

Just read @Elastigirls post.

And she is right!

And when I can do this in under 40mins, why worrying about anything? :D

Good habits I want to establish:
- Drink 3l (2l water) a day

- 10k steps a day

- Exercise everyday

- sleep at least 7hrs a night

- morning routine (sort of Miracle Morning -> Journal etc)

- eat healthy and practice intuitive eating

- practice gratitude

- live in the moment (mindfulness)

Bad habits I want to avoid:

- Complaining (hi passive aggression!)

- Comparing to others/competing for success

- Smoking (still at 2-5 a day)

- beating up myself when doing mistakes

- perfectionism

- wasting time online

- worrying about everything

- trying to impress others

Ok. There will be a goal in this challenge. A daily goal.

Thanks to @Tobbe for Dr. Mike's video (I am not sure if I agree with everything he says but this can't be wrong ;) ).

So:

30mins exercise* a day

Exercise = movement e.g. walking, running, bouldering, bodyweight, jump rope, .....

Got a bit worried about this when I first read it. I mean, your body needs to rest too!

Then I saw this, and that you include walking, then I felt better! :)

But then again, that's a lot of goals! Big goals that are very difficult to reach! Please don't do them all at once, and don't beat yourself up if it takes months, or even years, to get there!

Roasted beetroot is awesome! I love it Yummy

Pumpkin and sweet potato are pretty similar, so it makes sense that if you don't like one of them you don't like the other either :)

But girl! Roasted beetroot with chèvre, roasted walnuts and honey! Love Eyes

What is this one about?

It's from Madame Moneypenny, a german woman who talks an writes about investments (like ETFs) especially for women.

The Webinar description (translated):

Dr. Antje Tönnis is a geoscientist and a career changer in banking. She has been working in social-ecological banking for 11 years. Her focus is on asset investment with a mission in the area of foundations and bank communication.

Vanessa Bolmer has also joined the banking business as a humanities scholar and a career changer. She has been with GLS for 7 years, now also a banking economist, and is responsible for bid management and the development of GLS's own investment funds.

Melek Boz has been working in banking since 2001 and with GLS Bank since 2013. She is currently employed in the central asset management department of GLS Bank in Bochum. Asset management looks after private individuals and legal entities, including foundations.

All three share a passion for using money to contribute to ecological and social change in the world. Financing for financing.

The webinar is intended to give you an introduction to the topic of 'green investments'. Among other things these questions will answer:

    What are green/sustainable investments?
Which valuation approaches are there for sustainable investments?
What forms of investment are there and do the forms differ from conventional ones?
What effect do I achieve with my investment?
Do I have to expect less profit if I invest green?

After the input you have the opportunity to ask questions to the three speakers.

The recording will then be sent to all participants* by email.

Yeah, it's about movement :) As Dr Mike in the video you posted said, 30mins of exercise (-> movement, especially walking) a day.

The habits are for someday. These are the ones I would like to achieve someday, not no/in this challenge. Just wanted to write them down.

Interesting questions :) If you can/want, please write up a summary and post it here :)

I love chèvre, but my wife doesn't eat it, so we never have it. Do you have any suggestions for good alternatives?

That's an impressive workout! SO easy to get caught up in the scale game, ad forget how  much stronger and ready to move we are. I love NF because it helps keep me focused on the bigger picture
