CM warms up

Recommended Posts

it's getting friggin cold up here in new england!!

giphy.gif

I'm running a 5K on Nov. 17th so hopefully i'll stay warm by training for that. I've also come back to the barbell so i'll be warming my lifts up and hopefully earn my newbie gains back quickly. I'm going to keep my lil walking goal as we probably only have a month or so left of decent walking weather left.

Challenge goals:

  • Complete 5K training which is 2 runs per week
  • Get in 2 weight sessions per week, and 1 whatever I feel like
  • go on a 5 min walk once per week; plan out a day by Tuesday based on weather
  • track restaurant food; I feel better when I eat out less than 3x per week. Plan out weekend food and grocery list before Friday night. This didn't always happen last challenge so I'm adding a reminder to my phone.
  • track yoga; I feel better when I get at least 50mins/week

that's it!

Week 0 – Monday

1st running workout from a random 5K training plan. did it on the treadmill bc it was real cold and dark out.

latest?cb=20160921202603

10 min run / 1 min walk x2. After a healthy dose of alcohol last weekend this was tough. I kept the run portion pretty slow so that I could make it the full 10 mins without stopping. Ended up at 1.92 miles; 50ft climbed; and an avg speed of 5.18mph (including the walks).

cooked up a big batch of pumpkin chili when I got home. used my mom’s jalapenos and bells peppers which weren’t spicy so I ended up adding some chipotles in adobo. it was great. I got in 10 mins of yoga but was sucked in to Sense8 so no TY cards happened…

workouts: 1/5

walk: 0/5

restaurant food: 0

yoga: 10

the plan.

10/15: running; yoga (10m); TY cards

10/16: weights; yoga (15m); walk; TY cards

10/17: running; yoga (15m); drop off TJ; laundry

10/18: weights; yoga (10m); work book club

10/19: weights or circuit; yoga (5m); TY cards; review wedding photos

10/20: yoga (5m); hair cut; groceries; pedicure; TY cards – unless our niece comes! then we’ll be doing that.

10/21: TY cards; meal prep

Chipotles en adobo are one of my favorite kitchen staples.

what do you do with leftovers? freeze them? i usually just put them in the fridge and think i can use them up before they go bad and most of the time i don't.

Blend em, measure em out in tablespoons, and freeze the measured out bits. That's what I've done in the past.

I kind of prefer running in the cold for some reason, it's this weird Jack London mankind against the harshest nature sort of thing...

they seem to contradict themselves with points 2 and 3. you could burn fat to stay warm! increase your body's tolerance to cold! then, wouldn't it make sense as your body tolerates cold better it wouldn't resort to burning fat? unless you're on a keto thing. idk anything about biology actually but those claims made me scoff lol

but yeah, i'd totally do one of those classes haha! we can feel like a Jack London character for 50 minutes :D

I mean... I'm sure I don't like to run at all... so maybe it's some extra level of helldom?

OMG someone brought this up in one of my PT groups looking for studies to back it up... I couldn't bring myself to get involved in that conversation! This screams bad idea for the generally unprepared...

I just fridge 'em and mostly get through them before time is up! If it's been a little while and I don't think I'll get through them, I make chipotle mayo and that seems to extend their life pretty well. :D

Also happy belated! Doing anything fun?

thanks! just a regular day really. i did my makeup which made me feel like it actually was a special day. spouse came home on time from work and got me products from my fav skin care brand :D hoping for a low-key weekend to recoup and cross some shit off my list that's stressing me outttt

Week 0 – Tuesday

back squats

95x8

85x9

85x9

These were fairly easy but I’m sure I’ll be sore from them*

smith machine calf raises/stretches

65x8x2

high step-ups

10x8x2

leg curls

80x5

65x9

I ate a lot of sugar on tuesday: biscotti, 2 cookies, a donut, and a cupcake. Sharks also are hitting so may be related.

Got in 10 mins of yoga and made fish for dinner with kale and sweet potato cooked in the IP. I put it on for 1 min and then let it release naturally for a while but that was too long. I was following a recipe for kale and carrots which had it cook for 5 mins! would have been mush.

workouts: 2/5

walk: 0/5

restaurant food: 0

yoga: 20

Week 0 – Wednesday

Accidentally slept in so I did a quick BW circuit

10 counter pushups

10 mtn climbers

5 negative chin ups*

x6 plus almost a whole round:

10 counter pushups

10 mtn climbers

1 negative chin up

Cleaned up the house a bit, ordered a salad for dinner (Spouse was away for work), dropped off the pup with my mom, got 10 minutes of stretching in while watching GBBO. Got to bed a bit later than I wanted but still hit 7hrs sleep.

workouts: 3/5

walk: 0/5

restaurant food: 1

yoga: 30
