Jedi and the Most Basic Human Needs

Recommended Posts

Wowzers my life is hectic AF.

My last challenge went a little bit by the roadside because I got insanely busy. I now work two jobs (plus my Youtube Channel which is basically a third job jesus heck) and my car is currently in a semi-broken down state again. AGAIN. But yeah.

I think my primary goal for this challenge is for me to Get My Shit Together (tm) because when isn't that the ultimate goal? But really. I need to get it together. I think I'm finally starting to get used to the pace of my life. I'm trying to sleep more to make up for the additional stress and other things. But now I need to take time and get the rest of my life together.

But I have Three main goals for the challenge.

Start Bullet Journaling again

I'm starting the process for this tonight. I'm going to set up my journal and start a new layout. But I have 5 to-do lists scattered around right now and I need to get things more well organized. Bullet Journaling has always helped me keep it together and I think that'll make a difference for me moving forward.

Figure out where I'm screwing up intuitive eating

This is a little trickier. I'm not really screwing it up (You can't screw it up tbh), but I am losing something somewhere. I need to take a good long look at my habits and figure out what and where I need to change. Including implementing those changes as well.

Start the process to get back into therapy

This is the last leg of my 'figuring things out' tripod. I really need to get back into therapy to balance out my celexa/meds. I want to find a good therapist covered my insurance and go twice a month now that my copay is so much higher. It's not ideal but that's the best balance I can come up with.

These goals will help me get my life back on track. More detail is probably needed later, but this is the core of it.

Have you tried the workbook? It's newer, it came out either last year or this year, and can help you find a new way to work through the principles.

I might have to try it. The main reason I dont have it yet is finances. I havent had the money for it until recently >_>

Past couple of days have been iffy with intuitive eating. I think one of the (many) things that I need to be doing to help is that I need to make time to read. I'm not making time to read and I'm taking time to read and decompress at meals and it's causing me to eat more at meals (and for snacks). I feel like I'm running around and busy so much that I don't have time to really decompress, relax, and read. Which I need to take time and do.

I've been pushing myself way too hard recently, and I need to back off and relax a bit more. It's hard to let go of all of the mess that I've been doing but I think it would be insanely helpful. My newest bullet journal is the consolidation of literally 5 to-do lists. Not cool. I need to chillax a little bit.

I'm so with you! I'm having a total rest day today, I'm gonna watch movies and relax :) It's great that you're making plans and to-do lists, but remember to book in some rest days, too. I've neglected rest, and it's starting to show...

I believe it's this one. I haven't tried it myself, but I've used other resources to practice intuitive eating...! It really helps to have a guide with you, when you start out (and also during your journey! It's a constant practice, and it's OK to need help and guidance :) ).

That is in fact the one.

Whooooo drop kick me JESUS it's been SUCH A MONDAY.

Like this

- cat drops full food bowl onto floor

- dog refuses to listen to me to STOP EATING CAT FOOD so I have to drag her up to the couch

- I clean up cat food from the floor

- heater stops working so it's 65*F in the house (Husband somehow magically fixes it later)

- can't get extra work done because of the animal debacles

I actually have a friend visiting for a few more days and so it's been a struggle to finish everything up. I'm nowhere near as productive as I'd like to be, honestly. But that's okay, It's extremely important to spend this time with my friend! Having her here has helped me make some strides on my intuitive eating as well. I'm not eating meals alone anywhere nearly as often so I'm overall making better decisions. And by that, I mean I'm significantly more in tune with my body!

My bullet journal is fantastic. I finished out the last few pages for this week, and got a new one from Walmart that I'm super excited to set up for next week. So that's a good positive thing.

At the moment, I'm tucked into the couch getting work done for a while.

~~~
So after hearing about it from @Ensi, I went and read Steve's most recent blog post about Habit change. One piece that really resonated with me was the identity change. I still have negative self talk and non-intuitive-eating-friendly thought processes so ingrained into my identity. I think that trying to change some thought processes about myself could make a huge difference!
Oh wow it's Friday.
It's been a week.
I've been struggling to get things finished up and done. I was slightly overscheduled this week (again) and I'm scrambling to finish everything up.
Intuitive eating has been semi-okay. I'm not paying good attention to my hunger signals right now, which I need to deal with. I did a LOT of binge-style eating today because I didn't listen to my hunger signals. Also because we don't have a lot in the house. I didn't overeat, in particular, but I was eating in the binge style and that's no good. But part of it is a lack of groceries. Not the whole thing, the other part of it is related to me not treating my body quite properly.
Slow and steady I guess?
But yeah, this week has been 90% work. Between retail and marketing I'm like x_x I do still have my bullet journal working, and I'm making my next one up over the course of today. It's been a lot. I'm hoping Sunday can be a day of rest. I direly need it. Tomorrow I'll have to do more work and have a retail shift as well. ahhhhhhh.
None of this is helped by the fact that I read an almost 1k page book in like 9 or 10 hours. I started it the day it came out, around 9:45. Went to bed around 3am, then got up around 10 and read straight through until I finished it between 2 and 3 or so in the afternoon. I should have been working Wednesday but instead I read a novel. Whoooooops xD #noregrets
Oh hai everyone. I still exist, I promise. Life is calming down slightly as far as hours and stress are concerned, but not so much with the food stuff.
I think it might start coming soon though, I'm really happy about it. I'm finally feeling calmer and happier, as well as feeling a bit more like a human being. I'm not behind, I'm not scrounging. Now that the rest of life is evening out, I'll be able to focus on food and how my brain and body feel about food.
One thing I'm still struggling with is drinking enough water. I really want to work more on this in particular because I know I like how my body feels when I drink enough water every day!!
Hey guys. It's been a lot recently! But here's my life in a nutshell.
My hours at the retail place are getting cut a bit. Which is amazing because they were overworking me to begin with. I'll have more time to do stuff for my primary marketing job, and maybe even take a few more hours after the holidays. I dunno. Depends on my stress levels. I promised myself I'd get through the holidays and reevaluate everything. At this point, I'm at a good place finally. I don't feel overwhelmed on a daily basis.
Food stuff is calming down as well. Having some time back means I have more time to focus on my mental and emotional state. I am at least a little bit more aware of things. I also have time to cook more often, which helps. I think the biggest struggle with food I'm having right now is that there's a friend who I trust on my social media feeds talking about something called Plexus, which I think is a hunger suppressant/weight loss/diet MLM. Most of those I can ignore, but I also know that she's not the sort of person to exaggerate her results to sell something so that's making it SUPER tempting to try the whole system. I'm talking myself out of it by going on about rethinking life after christmas but lord knows that I'll probably actually do it at that point otherwise.
My emotional state is... it's something. I'm tired a lot. And I'm incredibly lonely. Mr. Right is working a lot on nights, so he's on the opposite schedule from me half the time. And of the time that's left, he's exhausted constantly. And he's stressed a lot because they've been giving him a lot more responsibility. So I'm attempting to be the strong positive one. I'm trying to be patient and take care of things. But it's so incredibly hard. My emotional state is very affected by the emotions of a room, and the rooms I'm in are either empty or full of stress and exhaustion. And I'm working 2 jobs and trying to keep our life together with the entirety of household chores, 2 animals, managing groceries, etc. So I'm not in a great spot either. Yeah. I binged massively at lunch today because I was frustrated and angry about like 20 different things. Before I ate, I ugly cried for 15 minutes straight. Straight sobbed. I'm just over things rn.
This is very true. And last night I spent a couple hours venting to a very close friend about some of this and received some much needed encouragement. A good night's sleep and I'm back to where I'm coping better again. I feel less empty. I can function again. It's kinda nice, actually.
Wow life is a thing. Hellu everyone. Drop kick me JESUS my life is stressful.
Mostly right now the stressful part is getting everything taken care of and handling life while Mr. Right is dragged into work over and over again literally all the time. It's a lot, but I'm.. managing. That's the best I can say about it right now. I'm functional. I'm only having 1-3 meltdowns a week. Depending on how much stress there is.
I think I'm finally getting back into intuitively eating properly. I'm finally sitting down and truly listening to my body and eating when I'm hungry. It's been a slow process, and for some reason breakfast is still a major struggle (IDK why I never want to start eating), but I feel like I'm making breakthroughs. Little ones, but breakthroughs nonetheless. Like yesterday I mindfully and intuitively ate during the middle of the day. Early and late wasn't fantastic, but it's a start. And today I've been eating fairly intuitively over the course of the day.
Any chance on having an introvert pampering night? Just you, a nice bubble bath/long shower. A face mask, your favorite snack, watching a movie you love or reading a book.
The world will still be there the next morning and you'll be more capable of handling it.
