Another rough one today.   Work blew up and things went nutso.   Left me tired and borderline cranky.

 

Got out to the warehouse for a proper lift day.   Still good on 5x5 pull ups; though I hit 6 last week.

Ate fine and well.

Night time face and teeth routine done.

Worked on tablet art.

Sketched.

Thanks guys!   I think the long term consistency is really paying off.   My brain sort of says, "Well do it anyway, because, that's what we do, right?"    I'm feeling like I am reaching a good balance on pushing through blehs and listening to legit body signals.

Yaaay Broba my Fett!   Glad to see ya 'round here!    It was brutal.  I think I am still recovering from 100+ squats and lifts with that slush ice snow I shoveled.    Better now though that the streets are clear and the sun is peeking out.

Aye!   Me too!   It has been somewhat better today and I have the next two days off so I am feeling good about that.     Pushing through is growing harder - but I am encouraged, and motivated, because this is the first time EVER I have maintained slow, safe weight loss during the fall/winter.   I'm excited to see where I will be in April if I just keep on keeping on, ya know?

 

So, today I am really tired.   I have some DOMS from yesterday's workout, and I was wondering why and it dawned on me that 80 minutes of shoveling that crap on Monday, plus a proper strength workout yesterday means I didn't give my muscles and system any actual break.    Was going to run at lunch today, but thought I'd hold off and do some other things instead so I could get a bit more down time on the bones.   If I feel more energy after dinner, I'll put on some Just Dance or something and get a bit of movement in.   Not every 'exercise day' needs to be a 500 calorie blast.   Right?  Right!

 

My sis and bil are making me a special b-day dinner tonight, since I am typically out on Thursday nights.   I requested the maple glazed salmon with baked sweet potatoes and a brussel sprouts roasted with bacon.    Mmmm.     I am drooling just thinking about it!

 

I've already done some sketching today, so if I get a bit of tablet time in tonight too, we'll be good.   I SHOULD be able to finish up the, "My best friend is a dragon!" picture I am digitizing.  Have flats done, just need shades and textures.         

 

I always struggle to get routine things done when the routine changes up, so the rest of the week into the weekend could be challenging, but I really want to start this challenge strong.   Maybe a @Raxie   like pre-schedule bullet list will help!

Two nights in a row of meeting my bed time, and two nights in a row of my Fitbit saying I got 7.5 hours of ACTUAL sleep.  Nice!     That said, I was feeling really rough today so did not work out at all.   It's unnerving, that just as I was feeling so wiped out and exhausted and not myself, that my Humana insurance sends a text alert to my phone about a flu outbreak in the area.   Wth!!   I think I will be okay - just need more proper rest.  

 

I mostly already updated earlier, so I will just drop this here as it's the finished dragon bestie pic I've been working on.

Well that's about the worst thing I've ever heard.

 

These places are so worried about paying out claims that they'd rather worry everyone in a geographic area. Gah.

Recap from Thursday.

 

It was my b-day, so I was a bit worried about the foods but I feel like I did super awesome!

 

Eggs and toast at home, sandwich with cucumbers as a side for lunch, a couple of coffees as is normal.  Leftovers from a cooked dinner a previous night... and then, then the friends showed up for D&D!    Got some of those big fluffy bakery shop cupcakes.   So I had the one that my one friend brought for us.    And a small handful of chips and salsa, then half of the grinch themed ones that my other friend brought, with some almond milk.     They were so sweet they almost made me sick hah, and so I didn't touch the delicious cookies that were also brought.   I think this was actually pretty solid for a day filled with potential treats.

 

Late game nights, I had planned on NOT doing the full bedtime routine.  Instead of the face scrubbing, lotion, flossing, everything.   The goal is just brush teeth and get into bed early.    That happened.  Mostly.  Except the sugar overload DID make me sick, so I was a little preoccupied in the WC and didn't make my 'in bed within 15' minutes after gaming goal.    But, the only extra minutes were the minutes ruling the throne, so I am not counting it as a hit.

 

Worked on tablet art in the morning before I left, and got an art lesson or three in (they were short.)

 

I danced at home for 30 minutes, so got some movement in.

 

Sketching did not happen, but I spent about 1.5 hours with my friend who might be getting the house with me, going over finances and looking at money in a very uncomfortable/adult way.   (One does not usually share exact details about finances with friends.   That's one of those golden rules, but we have to get past that if we are seriously going in together to get a house.)

 

I played some Don't Starve, and then had a super epic night at D&D and it was a really good day!

Guys.   I don't like pizza much anymore... I never thought this would happen.   But we ordered one last night, and I decided to just enjoy it.  Ate 6 squares (Basically half of a 12" pizza for you non square slice people...)   It left me bleh and unhappy, and it didn't even TASTE good really while I ate it.     So that's over and done with.   I was waaaay over my calorie limit, but I have not done that in literal weeks so I am not worried.

 

I did get some tablet time in yesterday.    But I didn't exercise.  I wasn't feeling 100% so I took a full blown lazy sloth day.    Played lots of video games and watched tons of anime.    It felt good.

 

This morning I am up and showered, finished my tablet practice time and am off to the gym for a lift.    I am hoping yesterday's rest and the fact I ate dinner for breakfast (last of the salmon, rice and brussel sprouts from my birthday) that I will have good energy!  If not.  That's ok too.  I am at least doing the thing.

 

Need to get some sketching in as I missed that yesterday.

Oof.    Work was a whirlwind this morning and I am faced with the choice of choosing my mood.   What's that saying?  You can't control what happens to you in life, but you can control your reaction to it.    I am going to put on my worker bee hat and force some worker bee mojo into these bones!   Yeah!

Also - since November 11th, we have had exactly, 1 day of sun and our bold Starpuck is feeling the weight of the ever present blanket of grey, and cold, and wind and dampness that comes with this.

::WEEK ONE SUMMARY::

 

The First Challenge - Through Perseverance, One Finds the Key

Goal: 5x a week.   (This has been sustainable.)

2-3 Lifts per week, fill in the other days with movement.

 

Duly warned of this phenomenon, Starpuck did not take precautions to counter it.   The lack of routine proved to threaten some of her consistency this week.

2 Proper Lift Sessions were managed.   1 'Snow' Lift (which in turn threw her off for days.)

1 Move (Dance) and that was it.   4 days exercised falls short of the requirement. 

 

--I'm not beating myself up over it, but I know I have to do better or risk unraveling the habits and progress I've made up to this point.

The Second Challenge - Through Practice, One Finds the Door

Goals: 

  1. Sketch Often, 7x/week   **Missed 2 days this week, due to being off and falling out of regular routine.
  2. Tablet practice 4x/week    Got all 4.
  3. Art lessons 1x/week    Check!

The Third Challenge - Through Rest, One Finds the Reward

Without proper rest, the members of The Hand would quickly fall to ruin from exhaustion.   It is important to show them that you are capable of quiet rest and reflection.  

IOW:   I need to get my night time routine under control!  I've been sleeping less and that's not good!

Goals:

  1. Establish a routine for night.  (Wash face, brush teeth, floss, relax.)
  2. Set a firm weekly schedule for what nights, have what curfews.  (D&D nights will have later to sleep times.)
  3. Stick to above schedule.

1.    On non game nights, I wash face, moisturize, brush teeth, floss and get into bed by no later than 11pm.     I am pleased to say this happen on all non-gaming nights!   On gaming nights when I get home at 11:30pm, I minimize the routine to JUST brushing the teeth and getting into bed quick as I can.    This also took place.  (Except for the one night I came home feeling sick- but I did not power up the phone or pc, just took care of the ills and got into bed.)

2.    Curfew's have been set.    10:45pm is my 'shut things down and get ready for bed.'   This happens on M, T, W, S.   Th, some Friday's, and Sunday's follow gaming nights curfew of 'asap upon being home.

3.    Schedule was adhered to!   Going forward, I will just be tracking the days I meet the bed time!

Other side quests for this challenge will continue to be:

Find budgeting/money tracker app and use it!  -- Found a good one, but have not been consistent with using it.  Starting it up this week for sure!

Continue adding money to savings account for house fund.   - Will do so after I get Christmas presents purchased.

Spend some time outdoors.  - I bailed on the one day I had planned for outdoors.   Didn't do the Lights and Lagers because I woke up feeling not 100%.    I might opt to take an outdoor, weighted walk, instead of a run on one of the days this week.   I also have Friday off, so maybe I will force myself to go hiking.

 

 

Not my best week, but, MFP tells me I am on a streak of 92 days.    That's 13 weeks!  Holy smole.    So, a less than perfect week (which was still better than most previous 'good weeks') is nothing to bemoan.     I feel like I've been given a warning to mind the path, or risk having to refind it later, and I think it's easier to stay on a hard path, than be lost and trying to find it at all.       I am using up the last of vacation days, so I have another 4 day weekend, but I am going to plot exactly what I am doing in my BuJo and stick to my guns on it!

UHM WOW I AM FLABBERGASTED AT THE PIZZA DISLIKE.  You have healthied long enough for it to lose its grip on you and I am SO AMAZEEEE!!

 

Sounds like you had a busy but overall successful first week, even if you didn't hit absolutely everything.  Great job!

I DID go out to the warehouse to lift.   And it was the worst lift in months.   I couldn't do nearly as much as I've been doing.   I was labored, out of breath, sore, weak, exhausted.   So... I did 3 sets of things instead of 5.   I lowered the weights, and I trudged through it.

Food was fine.   The rot gut helped with that.   Either it's a mild stomach bug, or my body is really ticked at the overdose of sugar this past weekend with all the cupcakes and b-day treats.

I got an art lesson in, I sketched, and I worked on the tablet.   In fact, I took the pic from sketch to fully finished in about 45 minutes.   Granted, it's not a very detailed piece, but I love the 'tude I snagged with her.

Also - I keep drawing chicks with super fun, punky, feisty hair-do's that I love... but could never wear myself, lol.

 

Also-  this drawing led to an entire new order of monks for my homebrew campaign.

 

Many incorrectly assume that The Azure Summit is a place.   It is a people; an order of Monks that keep their name and number well guarded and shroud in mystery.   The purpose they serve is known only by a few well educated scholars and loremasters, and those who can claim to know one of their fold, are even fewer.    They are a robust order; determined, loyal, fierce.   Their wills are unwavering, and their faithfulness to their cause faultless.      This is Jera.   Ruler of the Spear.

Jera is the feminine form or Gerald, which means Rule of the Spear, so that's where I got that from.   I think she's part of this order, but  a bit of a rebel.   Their colors are blue to match their namesake of the Azure Summit, but she purposefully dyed her hair with green highlights.   Plus, look at that lower chin jut.   She's totally full of stubborn sass!

 

To early bed tonight.  Going to do my night routine, then read some of the PHB in bed and brush up on some things.   Hoping for a run tomorrow- really hope I am back to feeling 100% myself.

I won't lie that I took a lott of inspiration from Beau!    But it was mostly an after thought- the practice sketch came first, then I knew I wanted her to have dark hair with a green highlight, but I colored her shirt blue.   And I thought, "So she's got a uniform, and her hair rebels against it" and two steps later, this chick can give Beau a nice little rivalry!
