Tateman
2018 marks the year that I came back. I came back to the NerdFitness challenges, and I came back to be a much healthier version of myself. My biggest failure, was to gain all my weight back so fast. October 7th, 2014 I was 257.3 lbs (my lightest). September 21st, 2015 I was 385.2 lbs. 127.9 lbs gained in less then a year's time. I floundered over the next 2 1/2 years or so, only getting to 367.6 lbs at the beginning of 2018. My Day 1 back at it. I wanted this to me my defining year. The year to help erase that horrible failure of a year. So far, I am doing it. I haven't dropped as much as I wanted so far this year, but I am almost to that 100 lbs barrier. I am damn proud of that. It hasn't been easy, and I have struggled with keeping up with my challenge goals. I've let things slip for one reason or another. I looked back at this last year of challenges. Most are very similar. I have tried building some up from a slow start. This challenge, I am going all out. I am bringing my mega challenge in with a bit of everything I have done this year. Only my to do list isn't making a spot on the list. Time management will be key for me here. I've already been mentally planning out the days/hours that I will need to accomplish everything. I really want this challenge to end up being my best of the year. With a little luck, maybe I can get to that lowest weight ever mark. At least by the end of year anyway. I plan on continuing this challenge the rest of the year. Goal #1 - Keto eating, with a deficit Yes, I am once again having a Keto goal. I will be doing IF as well. 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM is my eating window. Last challenge, I played around with hitting deficits. The goal was to hit >500 calories each day. Most days I did this, and a few I did get >1000. So this challenge, I am stepping up to >1000 Calorie deficit. My other goals will work into this. The more work I do, the more I can eat Keto + IF + 1000 calorie deficit = 5 points per day. 35 points per week Goal #2 - Read, and Sleep Yeah, this has been a constant in my threads all year as well. I have struggled, and still struggle to maintain a good balance here still. So this must remain in to help get me going. Computer off at 10:30-45 PM. Then I read. Reading done and off to bed by 11:30-45 PM. I give myself a few minutes for the transitions. Reading by 10:45 PM = 5 points In Bed by 11:45 PM = 5 points. 70 points per week. Goal #3 - Walking with a chance of running Last challenge I really was upping my step goals. The last week I was getting in 10k most days. So this last challenge, the goal is for me to hit 10,000 steps each day. Part two of the challenge is to start my C25k app again. The plan currently is to do runs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. 10,000 steps each day (Sunday rest day) = 5 points per day. Running done Tue, Thur, Sat = 5 points per day. 45 points per week Goal #4 - Workout! This right here, has been a problem goal all year. Each time I have tried it, I have failed it. I need to try again though. I am going to keep it simple. Squats, Barbell Rows, incline push ups, and door jam negative pull ups. Workout days on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I might throw in some alternate workout at a park. Same basic exercises, just no dumbbell rows there. Next year, I want to be able to do a pull up. So working this in will help me move that direction. Workouts done Mon, Wed, Fri = 20 points per workout. (I really want this done) 60 points per week Goal #5 - Posting to Nerdfitness, and Blogging I have majorly slacked in this department, and I want to get doing it every day. My other times I had this in the life goals and didn't grade it. This time, it gets points. I plan on having some time each day, just so I can post here, and make a blog post each day. NF posts made = 5 points per day Blog posts made = 5 points per day 70 points per week Goal #6 - Take the Linux course Awhile back, I did a partial Linux course. It really sucked, and I didn't finish it. This time, I am doing the free course from edx.org. https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-to-linux It says 8 weeks to finish. So I don't expect to finish by the end of the challenge. I do however expect that I will work on it some each day. 1 hour per day at least = 5 points 35 points per week. This challenge is kinda nuts. It's against the rules, but I kinda like it. I feel like I really want to try to push this one. To add another wrinkle into this all, I started to apply for some work. Money is tight, so we could use extra income. One place is a 12 hour shift 3 days one week, 4 the next. Not sure what hours, but it will wreak it all haha. If I get a job, and it interferes, I will just have to rework the problem. Must continue forward! Measurements Start/Finish: Weight: 265.1 lbs / Points: Week 1 - (11/26 - 12/02) - 310/315 - 98% Week 2 - (12/03 - 12/09) - 250/315 - 79% Week 3 - (12/10 - 12/16) - 0/315 Week 4 - (12/17 - 12/23) - 0/315 Bonus round! Final week of the year - (12/24 - 12/31) - 0/355 3 Quote Tateland.com, Instagram, Fitbit Link to comment
Bean Sidhe
You have a very ambitious plan, but I can totally see you rocking this. I have every belief you can do all this since it sounds like you are pretty prepared for it. Good luck with the job hunt. It will throw a few things off, but I am sure will adapt and rock it. Following Yeah, it was bothering me a lot last night before making the challenge. All the thoughts of even just not doing one, but I need to roll with things. Adapt when stuff isn't in my "schedule" Didn't work out yet, going to do that in a moment. Went out for walk 1 this morning after I dropped the kid off at school. Will hit up walk #2 when I go pick him up. Will also have bowling tonight. With the extra stuff I want to get done this challenge, I will be gaming less. Though I did make time to become the Pokemon Champion yesterday in Pokemon Let's Go Eevee Workout in a few minutes. Then I need to do about an hour with the linux class. After that, time to get some food and catch up on internet things I am posting here early, still need to blog post too. I'll need to get measurements too, but I might wait until tomorrow morning. 1 Quote Tateland.com, Instagram, Fitbit Link to comment

Tateman
OK, a little in the weeds today to get things done Getting this post done, then hitting up some linux It's been raining like all day. I was tempted to not run, but figured the rain won't kill me. Though, there were a couple of slips in the mud and puddles. Nothing major though. No falling Yesterday recap: Goal #1 - Keto eating, with a deficit 1926 Calories, 11 g net carbs. 1088 calories remaining. I was worried, because I got up to 1900 calories before I was a full 1000. Tateman
One walk done today. Finished my workout for the day as well. 3 x 10 squats 3 x 10 elevated pushups (against the kitchen counter) 3 x 10 Doorway Bodyweight Row 3 x 10 each arm Dumbbell rows. 25lbs I have been feeling much more tired today. Still have one more run to get done this week, then "rest" day on Sunday. Though I still want to get in some steps. Need to make it so my calories are high enough for me to be able to eat and have a deficit haha. This morning, I weighed in at 263.6 lbs. That officially puts my in the 100 lbs gone this year category. 101.3 lbs currently. Week has been going well. Though because I am focusing much harder on these goals, I am not getting in time to do a whole lot around the house. Dishes are backing up, and I haven't been gaming as much as I would like. I have a few tv shows to catch up on with the wife too. Maybe that is what Sunday is for Yesterday: All things went well yesterday. I got behind in some things. I ended up making my blog post from my phone while I was bowling haha. Then got the nerdfitness post in last night as well when I got home. Goal #1 - Keto eating, with a deficit 1671 Calories, 8 net carbs. 1482 Calories remaining. I ate a little less yesterday. Mostly since I was a little behind with getting my steps in. I didn't want to go to far over my limit, and not be able to make it up. Everything ended up working out. Full Points. 5 points Goal #2 - Read, and Sleep 11:39 PM to 6:35 AM. 6 hrs 27 mins. 15 x awake for 29 mins. I got off my computer in time to read, but was delayed a bit because my older son was talking to me for a little while. Didn't actually read until 10:50 PM. Not going to count it against me though. Was fielding questions, not chasing after videos or something on the computer Got into bed on time. Slept well enough. Had a weird dream, and it woke me up early. Full points. 10 points Goal #3 - Walking with a chance of running 10,825 steps. 62 active minutes. I mentioned in a previous post about completing the RunDouble C25k Day 2 Week 1. Goal #5 - Posting to Nerdfitness, and Blogging I made my post here, and posted up to my blog as well. Full points. 10 points. Goal #6 - Take the Linux course Made better progress here yesterday. Full Points. 5 points. 100% Day. 4 in a row, and working on keeping day 5 at 100% too 1 Quote Tateland.com, Instagram, Fitbit Link to comment
Tateman
Whew, I am tired today. I didn't get up early to get a run in. So I waited till after my kid's bowling to head out. Eventually, I went to a track near by, and ran it out. I tried to push the last interval run and got the 9:23 min/mile mark. haha. No way I could have maintained that. Then since it was later, I just continued walking aroudn the track until I reached 10,000 steps. My feet are sore, and I was ready to eat when I got home. Yesterday: Goal #1 - Keto eating, with a deficit 1743 Calories, 9 net carbs. 1140 Calories remaining. I got my rebel creamery ice cream in too. Chocolate cookie dough this time. So yay keto Ice cream Full Points. 5 points Goal #2 - Read, and Sleep Fitbit was weird, and didn't produce a great sleep graph. I think it had something to do with me deleting part of it. It had a gab from 3-7 am. So no graph, but I still have most the numbers. 11:41 PM to 8:00 AM. 7 hrs 2 mins. I got in my reading, and was off to be on time. Full points. 10 points Goal #3 - Walking with a chance of running 11,128 steps, 103 active minutes. No run scheduled. Full points. 5 points Goal #4 - Workout! Got my workout done in my apartment. 3 x 10 squats 3 x 10 elevated pushups (against the kitchen counter) 3 x 10 Doorway Bodyweight Row 3 x 10 each arm Dumbbell rows. 25lbs Full points. 20 points Goal #5 - Posting to Nerdfitness, and Blogging I did get in some posts here. I also made my Blog Post as well. Full points. 10 points. Goal #6 - Take the Linux course And... my first miss. Class not done last night. Wife wanted to catch up some shows, so I said sure. Survivor was a 2 hour one, and when I realized it, it was already 10 PM. So I had the choice to do Linux stuff, or not read before bed. I figured it would just be better to skip the Linux stuff for the day. No points! Still, nearly perfect day. Felt pretty good, and I hit the 100 lbs mark for the year. Pretty much doen with today too, so it will be 100%. Just need to get my blog post in. 1 Quote Tateland.com, Instagram, Fitbit Link to comment

Tateman
I got everything I needed done last night on rest day. No need to make an extra post about it Week 1 summary I have to say, this might have been my best week all year. I felt like I really pushed to get everything done on time, especially all the exercise. Weight Loss: This week I did it. I broke into the 100 lbs lost category. 102.5 lbs since January 1st. 2.8 lbs this week. 257 lbs is my all time low (that I can recall in adulthood). I am hoping to smash that before challenge end. I am tempted to change the Sunday food part to maybe just no eat at a surplus. Then I can have a real rest day. Tateman
Thanks! I am running a little behind today, but I did get in Week 2 Day 1 of C25k. Still need a couple of hundred steps tonight. Also need to get to my linux stuff. I did not get the linux stuff done last night. I let it slip until after bowling, but I talked to the wife instead. She has accepted a new position as a payroll supervisor with another company. She'll have some commute now, but over all, a much better opportunity for her. Tateman
OK, I figured I would pop in real quick. Last night, I did not sleep well at all. I have been so tired today. Still, I have pushed though to get my stuff done. It has been extremely easy to put off things haha. This morning was run day. Every run interval I was doing, "Just quit" kept going in my head. Still, I made myself push on. SO short and sweet today. I'll go more in depth tomorrow. Hopefully tonight will me some restful sleep. Last night was awful. Tateman
Well, this weekend was a bust haha. Ok, one day was suppose to be a rest day, but I ended up turning it into two days of rest I guess. Though I did get some things done around the house at least. I did not run my 3rd day of C25k. Sunday, I had a holiday party of sorts with the Match Club bowling I am in. We bowled (I did not do well), then we ate food from Boston Market. I had some Turkey, Ham, and a few Steamed veggies. I picked out a few slices of carrots, and broccoli basically I also had about a spoonful of cranberry sauce. I don't exactly know how to get it all tracked in Cronometer, and I couldn't find some information. Still, I don't think I was about to be in the 1000 calorie range either day. Ahh well. It seems to have gained me a couple of pounds too. At least I weighed in today 0.7 pound heavier. This week. I was down to 260.1 two days ago. So, maybe just some water weight. ok wrap up time. Tateman
I figured I would jump in here finally. This all went off the rails quickly haha. So the last couple of weeks, my kid has been sick. He has had a fever each night since the 14th. No other real illness symptoms though. The last couple of days have been trips getting blood work done to try to figure out what is going on. Then of course, my mind was just shutting down. No more exercises, eating more food. Plus toss a dose of depression in there, because there wasn't enough money for Christmas. Though, the little one still said it was the best Christmas yet. I was able to make sure the wife and kids had some gifts to open up. I told them I made the naughty list, so no presents for me haha. Still with all this, I ended up being ok with weight. In fact, it expected to gain a lot of weight, but I have been losing. I am down to 257.6 lbs today. I am tied for my lowest weight in like forever. October 10th 2014 was when I hit this number before. Maybe, when I first got married I could have been around this weight. I am not sure. I still have been mostly tracking. Even with these much higher calories, and not working out, I have been able to lose weight. So this makes me think more and more that I was trying to go too low of calories again. I am working on my challenge and goals for year already. I am going to start it off next week, so week 0 for next challenge I guess Quote Tateland.com, Instagram, Fitbit Link to comment
