Merrin: Songs from a Ranger (Remix)

Recommended Posts

CON: Logging food and staying in keto. I'm on day 7 as of today, with only one partial treat meal (doing this just before Thanksgiving was not wise, I had a tiiiiny bit of mash and some sweet potato and only ONE bread roll. So ha!) I do have vacation Dec 7-9 and all the meals are buffet/catered, so I might be able to stay in keto. I can't be sure.

Best practices: fizz in the fridge always, cooking on Sundays, microwave protein for lazy and shelf-stable stuff for work. Bulletproof coffee and tea forever.

WIS: 1-2 books for the challenge. Try to set aside reading time on the weekends? Pending titles:, Thud!, Alice Isn't Dead, Tropic of Orange, +1 red/black graphic novel (?), Lisey's Story (re-read).

CHA: daily skincare steps (as needed), one night a week for fancy masks.

STA: My desk job only offers me excuses to get on my feet a few times a day. But it's also getting too cold to walk to the Pokestop near me. Aiming to hit my 3k step count at least twice a week., even if I just walk around work at lunch, or take a walk from my apt before it gets dark.

STR: my 25lb dumbbells have been looking a little dusty. I haven't really worked out in a long time. I'm aiming for one BBWW a week, probably on the weekends.

DEX: Sitting at a desk is bad for lots of things. Daily stretches at work, with yoga on non-work days.

Each of these has a corresponding category in my Bujo, which is where I keep track more frequently than here.

I also have two costume items to finish by Dec 6.

Jacket: Serge raw edges, find new lacing?

Blouse: attach hem ruffles, put lining together, lining in, finishing front seam, hem shoulders

Day 1 : keto migraine? Factors: giving plasma, low H20 day, low appetite day. Now that I'm back at work I've got to be more diligent about my 4 big canteens of water per day. And also have more than BP coffee for breakfast.

Took two Motrin and lay on my bed to watch tv and Duncan brought me a heat pack. I fell asleep at 8. Ugh.

Wednesday:

WIS +1. Finished Thud.

CHA + .1 New charcoal scrub and popcorn scrub.

Thursday:

CON + .4 on track so far.

STA +.1 : checked the mail and got my steps in from walking around the Pokestop at the movie theatre.

DEX + .2 since I did morning stretches for my hips and back, and also arm stretches at my desk. After that migraine, I need to be safe and avoid any neck/shoulder movement since it's possible I twinged a nerve.

Hope the headache went away. What is a charcoal scrub and popcorn scrub?

The headache was gone once I woke up, though I had a huge blown vein in my left eye. Both of the scrubs are from Lush, the charcoal is good for bumpy skin and the popcorn scrub is nice and gentle on my face.

I had a lot of fun with Thud! the guards books are my favorite from Discworld.

It's only my fourth Discworld book so far, I am immensely delighted to know that there are so many more. I didn't much like Going Postal, but I then read Colour of Magic after that and fell back in love. Moving Pictures felt sort of hollow, though.

I haven't walked out of a movie in more than 5 years, and I just walked out of an anime film tonight. I'm very disappointed, because this is from the same studio that made Summer Wars, The Boy and the Beast, and Wolf Children, all of which I loved. Don't go and see 'Mirai' unless you want to see almost half an hour's worth (in the first hour of film time) of children having tantrums and screaming at each other. I couldn't engage with any of the characters, due to the screaming and crying, and we promptly left. The ticket attendant had to ask us "Was it really that bad" but he didn't seem too surprised, and gave us return passes.

Friday:

DEX + .1 after standing for hours to do filing, did several hip and back stretches.

Today's super awesome news, after the fact that Duncan has Medicaid, is that he now has a doctor within a mile of our apartment. Initially, they had tried to schedule him somewhere upwards of an hour away, but he called and yelled at some folks.

The really fortuitous thing is that his appointment fell on Tuesday morning, only a few hours before I have a hair appointment. I was worried about one running into the other, but I went and asked my boss if I could turn my half day into a full day off, in order to run about for these appointments. She didn't have a problem with it at all. That's probably been the nicest thing working here for the past semester; while I don't officially get paid or sick days off from my contract assignment, my boss has been more than amenable to my taking sick or vacation days. I've only done so twice, but have also put in for extended unpaid weekends off, and she's never minded. It's been a big change.

WELP. Despite all my best efforts at re-patterning for both length and fit, the Songstress top isn't going to work for Yule. This sucks because it was the center focus for Saturday's outfit, so now I need to dig through my other cosplay pieces to put something together, or resign myself to more mundane clothing.

It's really nice to have a workplace that is flexible and amenable enough to allow you to do the things you need to do!

Weekend -

CON + .2 for Fri and Sun. Sat was treat day, due to having to see family.

STA +.1 for Friday step count. I never did take my walkies break either day.

CHA +.2 for Saturday and today.

WIS started reading Through the Woods (the red/black graphic novel).

My snit about my cosplay work yesterday turned into a spontaneous one-afternoon build. In about five hours, I patterned, serged, pinned, and assembled a brand-new blouse. It's a steel blue, and it happens to be the lining/offset colour for an ocean blue overcoat I'd already made, which I was planning on taking because it goes with the new Constellations dress that I just finished.

Imgur also works well. You can upload to Imgur with the images set to private. That way people won't see them browsing on there. Then you can right click the image, select "Copy Image Address" then paste that link into a post and the forum software will imbed it for you.

Pre-Larp Run Down :

CON + .3 for M-W. Today I officially caved to both my nerves about the LARP and the battle of wills lost at the grocery store last night. All of the food at Yule will be catered and has already been paid for, so trying to stay on a strict food regime just seems silly.

CHA +.1 yesterday for needing to scrub extra dye off my forehead/hairline and also out of my sideshave. I don't do pictures but just try to imagine violet gemstone-cosmos colours.

STA + .1 yesterday from running about for errands. This is twice now we've gone to the pharmacy for Duncan to get his new stuff, only for it to not show up.

Ta-do ta-nite:

Laundry

Pack! (+ any last minute sewing fixes) (+presents)

Vacuum?

Trash (k, ba, be, wk, chair)
