Rise Above (the Pull-Up Bar!)

Don't be! I'm super impressed with anyone doing full pull-ups/chin-ups Strong

It is an interesting finding that I don't want to compeed in a challenge anymore, when there is (in my head) no chance to win.

Sure I could "only" do negatives etc but I want to do the hard stuff :D

Have to think about that!

(And will keep going ;) )

Me too! But I'm doing the most difficult thing I can pull (;) :P) off.

It'd be fun to try to do a cooperative challenge some time. But I'm not sure how to set it up. I mean, for a challenge like this for example it would have been almost impossible to know beforehand how many points we would/will collect. So setting a common goal before starting, when you don't even know how many are playing, is super difficult!

I missed my window of opportunity yesterday.

I had taken a walk and I should have done some pull up bar work immediately afterwards.

But with my new activity tracker, I first spent a good half an hour going over everything it tracked of my walk and fiddling with settings and whatnot (yay, new toys! :D). Unfortunately during that time, DOMS started kicking in hard, removing my will and desire to break out the pull up bar...

Feeling alright today, though, so will do some work this evening.

Did ten more negative pull-ups. The last one is always really tough! I think it's a lot in my head though. It's almost as if I hesitate a little bit before trying the tenth rep. I think I'll go for eleven next time, just to not stigmatize the tenth rep as much.

There is definitely something to the last rep being the hardest because you know it's the last rep.

It worked! Did 12, and this time it was the 12th that was as difficult as the tenth usually is :)

I DID A FULL CHIN-UP!!!!

giphy.gif?cid=3640f6095c06dec72e676b4a67

And one negative pull-up, and two negative chin-ups as well.

The negative neutral grip failed again.

But then I did a 50 second neutral grip deadhang, and a 30 second overhand deadhang for 48 points!

Not bad for someone who had a phlebotomy less than an hour before doing this. :D

10 + 10 + 13 negative chins gives me 330 points, and puts me 1000+ points ahead. I hope that's enough of a "break for the lead"!

Honestly, I thought you'd try harder :panda:

Lots of air kicking with my feet to get my chin over the bar, though. :P

Those last few centimeters were hard. But it's probably a skill thing rather than a strength thing.

We've all been there! If you got up it counts.

A lot of it comes down to learning just how to make your muscles do the movement. Keep it up and you'll start to get better!

No way! Wow! All hail the pull-up master! I did actually think I'd be pretty safe with that lead I had there. I am impressed.

I was always intending to hit more than 1000 points with this workout but you spurred me on to go a little crazy! More or less anything I did in the gym that wasn't a few sets of bench was a pullup :D

250 points from 5x5 full pull ups

1750 points from assisted pull ups. Which interestingly were all done at a higher resistance than what I used last week and I increased it as I went! So progress :D

Many Many sets of 10 some during my warm up but this is what I spent most of my time in the gym doing!

5 points from deadhangs

and when I got into work I did an additional 15 negatives just because a 1000 point lead is a nice number :P

For all the volume everything felt good and I was doing it at higher intensity to last week too. I'm pretty happy with this whole thing. I don't think my arms are going to like me tomorrow mind you. I got a little carried away and even when I hit my target of 10 sets of 10 on the assisted pull ups I just increased the weight I was pulling and added many more until I realised that 2000 points was a possibility and then it became my target.
