If last challenge was 'or how Rurik learned to stop worrying and took back his gigantic mirth,' this one is 'or how Rurik spat in luck's good eye and got his mojo back.'  It's great to be back regularly participating on the forums again (and if I'm being honest, actually earning that Guild Leader title beneath my user name...)  I really want to make 2019 something special after the rough-and-tumble rollercoaster of 2018 and I think I've laid a decent foundation.  Gone is the fixation on melancholy and what I cannot control; new is a more optimistic mindset tempered by reality but a horizon full of solid potential.  With that in mind...

CHALLENGE INSPIRATION:

I am whiskey, amber and leather – I am blood, sweat and tears - I am supplements and coping mechanisms and consequences; the barbarian who selfishly sold his soul as a mercenary, the mercenary who fell to the void and became a demon hunter, and the demon hunter who returned from the darkness to live like a scoundrel.  A new year means fresh opportunity.  Now I'll live a life AMAP (As Momoaly As Possible), perpetuate the charming rogue archetype, keep polishing my devil-may-care heart of gold, and just entirely strive to Live My Best Life.  In 2019 I'll be a Magnificent Bastard or I'll die trying; it's a simple matter of adrenaline, new experiences, and living life in the fast lane! 

So let's dial this shit up to Mother Fucker once again, folks -  I'm about to hemorrhage awesome all over the damn place.

Challenge Journal:  December 30, 2018... the Challenge begins!

As far as I'm concerned, it's Day 2 of the New Year, and we're off to the races!

Sticking with the tried and true challenge format I've had for the past few cycles, I've upgraded from Normal difficulty to Hard difficulty (more workouts, daily nutrition tracking streak, more social activity and challenge updates...) to start the new year off strong.  Going forward I have big goals for leaning out and trimming back my waistline (intend to hit 200# by March) and just having a blast while doing it.

Basically you could say...

Already started my challenge a little early with these pesky Guild Leader forum kung-fu, so I've got my workout in for the weekend , went skating last night , successfully tracked a day of meals , and sushi!!!

Exactly.  Nothing I need to change, but a few things I could stand to adjust.  Tweak habits. Grow stronger, fitter.

Resolutions are kinda like wishes - vague and unhelpful 90% of the time. Goals are specific and you work at them.

Challenge Journal:  Can't believe I'm saying this already, but January 1st, 2019

It seems like the rollercoaster of 2018 just left the station yesterday, but I couldn't be happier to be off that ride!

Over and done with, I refuse to bring any baggage from the last year into the new - but Experience Points are another story.  ;)

I went back and looked at my 2016 goals, the last time I really had my Nerd Fitness challenges and CrossFit priorities truly together.  With that in mind, I started making some adjustments and mapped out a start for what I'd like to see in the first 1/4+ of 2019.

Highlights include pumping my Strength stat further (500+ deadlift, grinding my back squat up, and consistently hitting above 300/245 for Clean & Jerk/Snatch respectively.  Further stat priorities include Dexterity (all the muscle-ups and handstand walking - I'm so close!!), testing more CrossFit benchmark workouts (one per challenge now) to boost my Stamina, plus testable metrics for my Charisma dump stat... more regular social activity, striving to be a better/present friend, and stepping outside my comfort zone with a social hobby of some sort (CHA is a work in progress).  Also looking at taking an online course and getting some worldly experience points in my bag under the Wisdom umbrella, so to speak.  Very open to suggestions for any of these still, especially CHA & WIS!

Also took some time to brainstorm out my character inspiration going into 2019.

Next up will be mapping out a To Do list of major events and whatnot I would like to accomplish this year.  A friend has asked me to travel to Banff or somewhere for a mud run.  I would like to go on a real motorcycle road trip and see the mountains again!  Plus I have a whole host of house and yard goals to check off in the coming months.

In other news I got back into The 100 again, had a brief New Years date (social activity  ) before bed, and I have a very positive mindset going forward.  Now we sit back and wait for the universe to throw a wrench into the works.  ;)
