So I know I was gone way too long, what happened to your foot Shay?

I think I screwed it up one weekend when I did a swing dancing workshop. One of the tendons on the inside of my right ankle has been very cranky since then. I've stopped dancing and hiking and walking because of it. I'm seeing a PT finally to try to strengthen the sucker, but it doesn't like my current work schedule.

Shame :( It sucks that you can’t even control your recovery, can’t exactly back off work

I'm quite cranky about it, actually.

Also, how are things on the job front going?

We're in a waiting period. The job that I'm planning on taking is working on getting together a contract for me. Once I get that I need to find a lawyer to look it over... with all my free time. I actually have no idea how I'm going to get that done before Antarctica. :/

Oh, that sucks! I think walking in itself would help the recovery if you also get enough rest. But I guess whenever you're not walking, you're standing...

At least your challenge seems to go well!!

My girlfriend wants to try out a few of my video games, now that we live together. She started with Super Mario Odyssey and I recommended her Stardew Valley next. But I'm afraid I won't be able to touch my Switch again once she starts it... XD

This is a very valid fear. ;)

Still such a brave Hobbit sticking to your challenge despite the poor cranky foot

Poor foot. :(

Thanks guys. It's such a hard mental game. I was literally climbing mountains, going backpacking, and cutting a rug on the dance floor before this happened, so it's hard not to get a bit down when it's a pain to just walk at work. :( Your support makes all the difference. :)

I can only imagine :( it must be super frustrating. That's why I am so impressed with you not letting it win over you and still going through on all your challenge goals and that amidst that hectic schedule you have!!

It actually feels pretty badly again with all the walking that I'm doing for work. The weekend made it so that I'm feeling ok again, but we'll see how long it lasts. :(

Oh no, so sorry to hear. I was going to say that you were moving around, doing so much and now you are struggling to just walk. Sending you lots of hugs and healing thoughts. Too bad you can't do a penguin slide around the hospital...

Well, here's hoping that things work out in time, or that you'll get time till you come back to check everything out and send them a final answer. I firmly believe if it is meant to be, it will be.

Penguin sliding around the hospital sounds so fun, hehe. Too bad the floors are filthy.

Thanks Elize. I'm sure that things will work out. God has a way of smoothing all the rough edges when I trust Him.

I've been wanting to write more than my daily updates for a while now, but I haven't been sure what I want to say. I'm just trudging along through the hours of work and then trying to take care of myself in the off hours. I'm getting the bare minimum done, and that's about it. I'm ok with that. It's just not very fulfilling at the moment. There's about two more weeks of this intense schedule and only two weeks until Antarctica. I'm not sure how I'm going to get a contract sorted out and pack for the trip of a lifetime with the time and energy that I have. I'm still waiting on my potential new place of employment to get a contract together. Once they do, I have 10 days to get it back to them, which may well overlap with time that I'm on the cruise. I suppose I can tell them those dates ahead of time. It just feels stressful. Soon everything will be done and settled though, and then I can move into the interminable piles of paperwork necessary to get licensed in a new state. Sarcastic yay. So, prayers for wisdom and energy are in order.

You’ll be alright. Really. :) I do think you should tell them in advance though, just in case the timing won’t work out. Even if it feels stressful to do that now it will feel a lot less stressful if they’re already aware of the situation. But it will be fine, these things tend to work out one way or another. :) Just keep being awesome, it’s just a phase.

Definitely tell them about the trip.  Most places are pretty reasonable about these kinds of things, but they can only be accommodating as far as they know the situation

Agreeing with the others, do let them know, just in case. Also very happy to read a few words besides those daily updates from you, just to get a bit more feel for how you're doing. As Hatter says, you'll be fine :)

Also I think, closer to the time, the excitement of the trip will give you an extra boost, that will help a lot with everything still needed. But yes, give yourself the breathing space and let your new place know about your schedule!

Big hugs and sparkling prayers are on their way :love_heart:

Also immediately wanted to say, tell them about the trip, so that they know about the time constraints. They can't help or give you more time, if they don't know about it. And then just... take it one day at a time. Handle what you can, plan ahead for only those things under your control, and we'll all pray for wisdom, strength, energy and things to fall in place - just right.

Thanks guys. I will tell them about the trip when the holiday is over (it's Martin Luther King Jr Day on Monday, and I actually get the day off from work, huzzah!!!!). Saturday was a pretty low key day at work, so I actually had some time in the afternoon to get some life things done. I returned an amazon package that I've been meaning to send back for a long time. I put the rest of my laundry away. Then I had time to meditate and play pokemon and other such fun, recharging activities. I can't imagine that today will be as calm, but I can hope!
