Thanks! I’m finding it helpful-ish. I may go back to before & afters- having difficulty finding the will to get back on MFP these days, and this is at least something to keep count of what I’m eating.

Friday

Slept in with Pupper.

Made fried eggs.

Got in my workout for the day.

Went to a friends Australia Day party - drank too much wine and ate too much junk food.

DH picked me up and we finished shopping for his bday party.

Ate at Jamie’s Italian while out - only had half the burger because it was joyless and half the fries because they were good, but damn I’ve been eating a lot of fries lately.

Came home and made ice cream stuffed cupcakes, DH made his Mac & cheese, and I put the pulled pork in the slow cooker. Fingers crossed that it isn’t a damn disaster when I pull it out.

After reading through intuitive eating I just straight up deleted MFP off of my phone.

I can imagine - I’m debating whether the trouble is worth the portion control aspect - I’m veering away from macro counting, despite finding great success with that method.

I think the problem with counting methods is they aren't sustainable over time. The trick is it's hard to learn to listen to our bodies then use self control to follow the cues.

Monday

Skipped breakfast

One of my last trainer sessions -

4 rounds of:

Back squats
Bench presses
Deadlifts
Close pull-up grip tricep Machine

Was the main bulk of the workout

Also: 500m row, deadmills, half burpees

Leftover pork & slaw for after workout

Another bowl of slaw an hour or so later

Walked the pup after a nap

Leftover pork & mac-n-cheese for dinner

Mixed snack cup

Without knowing what you've already got or what kinds of games your group likes, it's hard to say. 

 

Codenames is easy and fun. 

One Night: Werewolf is fun with 6. 

Tsuro is quick to learn and play. 

6 Nimmt! is cards but plays nice with 6 people. 

Bang! The Dice Game is a lot of fun. 

Zombie Dice plays any number of people. 

Captain Sonar is perfect for 6 people, and it's a different kind of game. 

When I Dream is very interesting.

Power Grid is a deeper strategy game that takes a while to play through.

We have a mix of people who like board games and people who get bored easily, so we are trying to strike a balance.

Totally forgot about Tsuro! Though, I don’t think it made the move with us ... Werewolf or it’s derivatives may be good, as long as DH isn’t “it” - I can usually tell right off.

Will have to check the rest out!

Tuesday

Coffee

Coffee Morning - breaded and fried hard boiled eggs on light tomato sauce

A couple bites leftover lactose-free Mac & pulled pork

Dinner out was steak for the DH’s bday, and it was ... serviceable. Luckily it was 2-for-1 on the Entertainer app, because I’d have thrown down otherwise for the price.

And then Doha lost it’s damn mind on the way home because Qatar beat the UAE 4-0 in some soccer (fight me) thingie.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuper excited we got in the neighborhood before 2 dudes blocked the freaking road with stopped cars and a flag draped between them until the police came to break it up.

If you follow me on Facebook, pretty sure we heard the engine of the dude in the video pop minutes after I stopped filming.

Similar craziness was happening until at least 2.

Whoo, the finals are going to be madness.

For your group I’d suggest checking out Sheriff of Nottingham, Sushi Go, Truck Off, or King of Tokyo.

I forgot about Sushi Go! Love that game the one time I got to play it!

Wednesday

Breakfast out with my Wednesday Group: eggs, chicken breast & potatoes

Hit the gym for a cardio workout

Lunch was the last of the leftover Mac

Dinner was wings out with DH’s coworkers

Wanted a snack but not nuts - all I had was gummy bears

Super annoyed at the dog still, woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare where she got carried off by a Falcon and dropped off the building. Was up for a couple hours.

Thursday

Did zero things - every time I stood up, something in the region of some part of my guts got stabby, so I did nothing but sit on the couch and watch history documentaries while napping with the pup

Food was whatever I could scrounge

Breakfast: Old rice, egg & pork fried rice
Lunch: Baked veggies & more pork
Dinner: DH brought me a falafel wrap
Snack: Snack mix

Friday

Coffee & the last of the leftover rice in another fried rice bowl for breakfast

Guts were back on the mend, so I did my workout - cleans and deadlift variants were involved; subbed 500m of rowing for the cardio section because it looked like I’d hate it.

Lunch was the rest of the veggies, the last of the pork & eggs in a hash

Didn’t make it off the couch and out of the house for more than a pup walk

DH came home and we hit our favorite Indian for dinner - had some sort of chicken with cashew sauce & half of his naan while watching the Asian Cup finals on his phone

Qatar won, and Doha went nuts - the honking was deafening - should have gone down to gawk; was too lazy and watching The Good Place to do so

Had snack nut mix and a bunch of tea

Scheduled a walk with a friend for Monday so my ass will get out of the neighborhood and off the couch after my workout.

I now have something planned every day but Thursday, which DH should be home early to pack - aaaaand I’m taking Princess in for her shots. So there’s that. Ok, so I do have something planned [emoji38]

Saturday

Wiener play date with the Princess and friends. Decided to walk over - turned into a :45 walk with DH carrying a pooped pup the last quarter of the way.

And then we joined the 2-Dachshund + a kitty party.

Breakfast was 2 magic balls from the vegan place on the way

Lunch was a fried chicken burger + fries + alcoholic beverage

Came home and had dinner out - mixed grill & muhamarra with prawns - did not eat the fries

Finished the Good Place

Sunday

Argument about video games again

Paid DH’s parking ticket

Checked out a new Japanese place in the mall - it was ok - and went grocery shopping

Came home and napped with my sore-muscled, tired pup

Was supposed to go SUP; weenied out because it was 71, windy and overcast and I was just in the edge of shivering on land - didn’t want to freeze to death. DH went anyways.

Dinner was a hot chicken ramen cup with rotisserie chicken, green beans and an egg

Had 2 batches of snack rice cakes with peanut butter & coconut chutney

Monday

Coffee & smoothie

Workout included back squats with no spotter while dodging around Russian chicks who were having a photo shoot in the gym - skinny Russian chicks with sprays and outfit changes who thought holding 2 4kg dumbbells up while getting a shot was taxing.

The cackling their mouth holes produced got them scolded by a Brit.

I then went for a walk around the new (ghost) city Lusail with a friend, had coffees and a raw vegan Snickers, had wine & mixed nuts - and got suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper sunburned in the process because I’m an idiot and didn’t wear sunscreen.

I 100% deserved that sunburn, and it has not faded today.

Had 2 rice cakes with peanut butter & coconut chutney powder for “dinner” right before bed.

Coffee

Coffee Group - had oaty roll with mushroom sauce, poached egg and small side salad

Walked around another seaside place

Made a Thai-ish shrimp salad thing for lunch

Made a Korean-ish shrimp & cabbage bowl for dinner

Rice cakes + peanut butter snack

Wednesday

Breakfast group at one of my favorite healthy spots, and it was fab: mixed mushrooms on toast with a massive side of soft scrambled eggs & coffee

Walked over to get a replacement key made for DH (casualty of getting back to running) and daily face lotion with SPF.

Came home, pulled clothes, took Pupper on a long walk, had a nap, and did zero workouts.

Made cabbage ribbons with Gochujang, butter & rotisserie chicken for dinner.

Had the rest of my shrimp & grapefruit salad for a snack

Today

Coffee & peanut butter rice cakes for breakfast

Workout involved thrusters and I’m really thinking of ditching anything in front rack position but kettlebells - my wrist reaaaaaaaaaally doesn’t like that motion, and I can get by in life with back squats & deadlifts - as the trainer said in our last session, eh - they’re nice if you like that movement, but not necessary.

Snacks were cherry tomatoes & the last of the rotisserie chicken with Texas Pete honey mustard sauce

Got pup’s vaccine done & RATT Test started. Talked to them briefly about the possibility of adding another pup to our pack.

Did I tell y’all this yet?

We want another snuggle babe - and a little chocolate boy is available from Freya’s same breeder - and he’s snuggly and playful with a cute little stance.

We’re thinking hard and debating back and forth - this would be the perfect time, age-wise for her - Ms Thing would love a buddy to play with 24/7, adding a second wouldn’t add much in the way of logistics - just cash, and we’ve had an asshole dog before.

We love what we’ve got going on with our pack now - which is why I think adding a new guy might be a great idea. We’d always intended upon being a 2-wiener household.

No definites yet; we’re taking a few days to think it over - and Qatar just upped its import requirements to include RATT testing on first visit - plus yearly goddamn RATT testing which is freaking absurd if you keep up with the (already semi-absurd) yearly rabies shots to be able to leave the country (like on vacation) and come back.

Which tooooooooootally shoots in the foot the plan to bring Pupper next time we stay at the W somewhere for DH’s business travel somewhere Royal Jordanian or Turkish Air flies.

Packed for our trip tomorrow, and tried to not be too upset that I

a: packed 11kg of stuff, and b: am being a shitty minimalist by bringing too many eyeshadow options + like 4 lotions & my dry brush to flake off the attractive face peel I’ve got going on.

Calm down there, hardcore mode, and Pick. Your. Battles. Like you counseled DH this afternoon as he melted down over burger restaurants, cables & his own luggage weight limits - this shit is exactly 0% worth freaking out over. None of it really matters - calm down and live your life.

After said burger predicament (I actually had a preference - but we couldn’t think of a place that had big juicy burgers like I like and not those little shitty patties he and all of Doha likes that didn’t also involve the car), dinner was delivery of that Singaporean Laksa soup I’m obsessed with + a whole butt ton of prawn chips, which are Freya’s new favorite thing.

Been watching historical documentaries & life in Japan vids on YouTube while DH plays CoD all GD afternoon while trying to not be too salty about it.

Also working on my Firestarter capabilities - to zero effect.

Someday ...

Friday

Travel day with a not that unexpected because Muscat never has their shit together and on time 5-hour delay.

And I ate like poo, but at least we didn’t pile 11pm room service on top of that, so ...

Breakfast:
Little omelette, chicken sausage, little congee, mushrooms & zucchini, mixed fruit

Second breakfast: red wine, a cookie, baklava

Elevenses: chicken salad sub thing, like a third of that horrid juice, zero water because I’d just had an americano from Starbucks

Lunch: free voucher for the delay - Turkey croissant, sparkling water & the fresh oj the dude made me take because I didn’t use my voucher well

Then lounge food - ate like half of these weird little things - squid, shrimp deviled egg, quiche with cream cheee, a damn dollop of just cream cheese, a freaking frozen chicken nugget topped with cream cheese - and 2 whiskey diets + some of that fresh oj because I wanted a whiskey sour and they had no sour mix

Dinner? Seedy bread with the cheese picked out of the middle, plain bread with maybe chicken salad and arugula, drank that water

Wanted room service fries at least; refrained

Pillow chocolates that I didn’t take a picture of.

Today

Woke up to chirping birds, which was something I didn’t know I missed.

Breakfast was eggs Benedict & coffee

Got my workout in

Coffee while plotting what to do next

Came back to the room, wrote my yearly catch-up letter to my aunt & did more research

DH came back and we walked around, ate Japanese - salmon rolls and Sochi cocktail not pictured, but the miso cod and chimken nuggers are

Had 1 more round - gin & tonic with bar snacks because that was not a lot of Japanese food

Aaaand he brought Snyder’s Honey Mustard pretzels which I haven’t had in years + less amazing hot ruffles. Now, were they Andy’s hot fries ...

Today’s feelings re: the pup are still fairly affirmative today; we’ll probably make our final decision tomorrow.
