Calling all pilots!

War has broken out across the galaxy and we need pilots willing to brave the dangers of space combat. Pilots will be required to perform reps of various exercises to control their starfighter and perform static holds to support their wingmen, in their efforts to gain victory.

Interested parties should apply here.

Training begins January 7th!

This sidequest will run Jan7-Mar10 2019.

Normal Sidequest Rules:

- Sidequests are not mandatory, feel free to ignore this one if you don't want to participate.

- Don't let sidequests hinder your own goals.

- If you're not sure how to register something, post it here.

- Keep it simple!

- Don't hurt yourself!

- Don't overwork/burn yourself out!

To all who have answered the call:  Thank you.  Please check the Roster for your assignment.

If you still need to join, apply here.  Please give us a day or two to process your application.

Each week, a battle will start somewhere in the galaxy.  To join, enter your username under your side and select the ship you'll be flying.

To attack the enemy, perform reps in any exercise of the appropriate type with a personal AMRAP (as many reps as possible) of 20 or less and log the total performed before the battle ends.  You'll deal 1 damage to the enemy for each rep performed.

To dodge enemy attacks, perform reps in any exercise of the appropriate type with a personal AMRAP of 10 or less and log the total performed before the battle ends.  You'll negate 1 damage taken for each rep performed.

To support your fellow pilots, perform any static hold of the appropriate type with a personal AMSAP (as many seconds as possible) of 30sec or less and log the total time (in seconds) before the battle ends.  You'll increase the final attack and dodge of all allied pilots by 1% per 10sec.

Your chosen ship will also affect your contribution, as shown in the Hanger.

You can see the battle and the time remaining, as well as results of previous battles, on the Battle Results.

Rules:

- Only exercises performed after signing up for a battle, but before time runs out (11:59pm Eastern time each Sunday) may be counted.  If there are multiple battles in a given week, you can only participate in one.

- You may change ships at any time, but only the final ship will affect your contribution to the battle (as shown in the Hanger).  All pilots start with one ship available and will be able to unlock more as the sidequest progresses.  You must enter your username exactly as it was entered on your application before you can choose your ship.  Check the Roster if you have trouble.

- Any unilateral exercises (EG pistol squats) must be performed on both sides to count.  You must perform 1 rep on each side for each rep logged for the battle; similarly, you must perform 1sec on each side for each second logged.

- Remember:  Attack has a max AMRAP of 20; Dodge has a max AMRAP of 10; and Support has a max AMSAP of 30sec.  Each will have an exercise category (Push, Pull, Legs, or Core) assigned for each battle.  Only exercises of the appropriate category and personal AMRAP/AMSAP may be logged.  Enter your total reps in each category in the appropriate column next to your username.

Also: examples of leg hold moves, anyone?

Wall sits, I'd imagine. 6" leg raise. There are a couple yoga poses that focus on legs - chair pose (similar to wall sits, but don't require a wall), downward dog split, but I'd guess you'd have to do it on both sides for it to count, and make sure it comes in under AMSAP. Single leg bridge, but again both sides to count.

Wall sits (and their variants) are probably the most common.  Most leg raises focus on the core more than the legs, though YMMV.

You can also turn any squat variation into a hold. :friendly_wink:
