Starpuck: The Bravest Warrior

Starpuck

Recommended Posts

It's Friday, and I had a lot going yesterday.   Exercise is not going as well this week, but I still have 3 days to meet my 5x goal and be on track.

After seeing Hamilton, I was so tired!    I guess just the excitement, and the being downtown in the cold.  (I'm a country girl more than a city girl, so being in the Loop really exhausts me mentally and emotionally.)    So I took it easy on Thursday, and did a lot of D&D prep for my game this Sat.       My new computer came in, but I had to leave work early to get my physical, to run to friends, to cook, to play D&D - where we killed General Milicent's two new generals in the city!  Woot!  It was the barbarian, and, unbeknownst to us until she shot us, a very cleverly hidden rogue/ranger (hey just like me!).   It was a good night, and we accomplished what we set out for.  Yay!

Got home, and still did my night routine, and was in bed with lights out by 11:30.  VERY good for a D&D night.   Sadly, I've been sleeping super poorly despite my efforts to work on night routine.   I am going to try a thing, and shift when I take my night time pills.   Gonna try doing my allergy medicine right when I get home, and my probiotics quickly after dinner.

But today, it's work, then home for pot roast stew, then some art, and some organizing the old PC, then setting up the new, and then final prep for tomorrow.

Also?  It's -7 degrees.   GRRR!

Sounds like a not bad day!  Sucks about the poor sleep.  I hope that rescheduling pills a bit helps with that.

Well, I spent all night trying to get my new PC up and running, and this is what I'm dealing with...

pl9O3Tqm.jpg  FgqWuFxm.jpg  OeARPPSm.jpg

I have a feeling it's a bad GPU.    Which, on this computer, was the bulk of the damn thing's cost.    I mean, I still have a working computer, so it's not end of the world, but it sure is disappointing.   Also, I have crap all over my room now because I have a box I need to save, for a computer that might have to be returned... and grrr!

Didn't get any drawing or tablet time in, and I really wanted to.     I at least got my lift in today, and did laundry so I don't have to worry about that.   But this sure threw a wrench in my plan of attack for the weekend.   I was supposed to just plug this in and get it going, and then work on my D&D stuff and art.   I suppose, I just pack it all up and use Helo until things are resolved.

Kind of a pain though.

Now I have serious moop.

WEEK 3 MANAGE YOUR MOOP BETTER, WRAP UP!

GOAL #1 - Keep up the exercise habit!

Move with intent 5x a week, get at least 2 lifts in per week.

EXERCISE 5X/ WEEK - 5/5  ||   Only 2 lifts this week, I've been having issues with tension headaches, body aches and low energy.   3 Dances, though I had to cram the last two on Sat/Sun to meet the 5x goal here.    Feels good to have managed, but the workouts themselves aren't feeling so hot.

giphy.gif

GOAL #2 - Keep up the homecooking!

~~Don't stop, home coooking, hold on to that ... cookbooking?~

TRACK DAILY  7X/WEEK - 7/7   ||  Including the Saturday fun day of eating!   I had Red Robin taco tavern double with fries and a shake!     Then, one of my players bribed me with this amazingly delicious beverage.   (Which I had 2 of because they were soooo good.)  And which I later found out were 255 calories a piece.   Soooo yes!  FUNDAY INDEED.    Honestly though?  I am not feeling bad about it at all.

HOMECOOKED 2X/WEEK - 2/2   ||   Cooked stir fry on Thursday, had it for left over dinner on Saturday after my fun lunch out.

giphy.gif

GOAL #3 - Night time routine!

Recovery happens during rest, muscles grow during recovery, therefore, I should get on with this proper rest thing!

FLOSS 5X/WEEK - 6/5  Close!  ||  Finally got this one.   I'm getting pretty fast with the floss.  Yeehaw.

WASH FACE 4X/WEEK - 6/4 Huzzah!  ||  This went really well!

BED TIME 11:20 3X/WEEK  -- WITHIN 15m OF GETTING HOME ALL OTHER DAYS - All over the place on this one.   2 nights in bed before 11pm!   3 nights within 10m of 11:20.  2 Nights around midnight.  Technically made the goal, but doesn't feel like it's doing anything.

tenor.gif?itemid=11991815

GOAL #4 - Creative Outlets need Nurturing!

SKETCH DAILY - 2/7 - Computer hassle hit this goal hard.  More on that below.

WORK ON THE TABLET 4X/WEEK *  3/4 -Not where I want it to be, but at least we did some work on it.

ART LESSON 1X/WEEK  NONE

D&D PREP AS NEEDED  Crammed the prep work on Saturday morning and pulled off a really fun game!    Two weeks till next session, and I am vowing to NOT wait until the last minute.    I really need to find a better way to organize my game stuff.

Week in Review focuses on a sum up of:

378.jpg

The new computer came in Thursday, I went to set it up Friday and it had some issues.    That really threw off my whole weekend plan.    I stayed in Friday night mucking with it and doing nothing else.    Saturday morning, I called tech support, and they wanted me to take the card out and see if the problem persisted while using the onboard graphics.  (It did not.)    But I had things to do for D&D and lunch that day, so I couldn't work on it on Saturday.   It turned into an all day Sunday affair.   Where I worked with first, no graphics card (fine) and then my OLD graphics card in the new PC (fine).    I had to run to an electronics store to pick up an HDMI cable for new PC and also a portable external DVDRW drive - because... new PC does not have one in it, and so I could not reinstall my digital art software on it.

Sooo yeah.  The computer thing REALLY threw me off.      I have to ship the faulty GPU back today, once they get it, they will send me a new one, so I am guessing about 8 business days before I have the new system fully up and running.   That is super frustrating, but I am trying to use this as a lesson of 'letting go'.   I can only do what I can do, and the rest is out of my control.   I at least have a brand new system, that IS running, and I had a decent old GPU that can sit in there and get the job done until the new one arrives.

Other things on the list, but not tracked.

1. Keep up with the Scripture Memorization

++ Still doing fine on this.   I just get one line jumbled on the current verse.

2. Keep up with the budgeting and house money savings.

++ Lost it this week with the having to run around and throw money at things I wasn't expecting.    Need to track the unplanned purchases better going forward.

3. Learn how to use my 3D printer and start printing awesome things.

++ This is going to have to wait until the other things get settled into place.

Plan for this week?

- Organize my time better.

- Do what needs doing before what wants doing.

- Do what I can, and let go of the rest.

Week 4, here we go...

Day 1 was a doozy.     Woke up to 6" of snow that had to be shoveled out.   We live on a snow route, which is great... as roads get plowed.    Which is shitty, as they plow that wet slush slop that turns into ice, into a 2' deep ridge at the driveway apron.    For those of you that don't see the white flakes so often-  here's a spoiler.  Snowblowers choke out on that, it needs to be hand shoveled.    So I did that at 7:30am.

Remember that Starpucks do NOT tolerate intense activity in the mornings!  They are an afternoon to evening exerciser.  Ugh!

Despite that, (and being late to work because of the roads) I still went back into the box to get a lift day in.     I took it MEGA easy because I was already feeling fatigued, but I got it done.    After work, more snow hit, and the apron again got smucked up, AND turned to a solid 2" of ice underneath it.  (That happens, when temps go from 33 to 5.)    I took an ice chopper to it, to break it up so we'd have traction coming in and out.

End result?   I ate 2000 calories today, and MFP says I should still eat another 234.   LOL.   It's not happening.   I am brushing my teeth and going to bed a full 40 minutes before my hard cut off time because I am that pooped.

I also did not play ANY video games tonight.   I spent the entire night after shoveling (and dinner) working on my computer.     I got everything reinstalled, specifically, my digital art program, and then spent like 2.5 hours working on that.   It felt so good.  I might even have it finished by tomorrow.    Didn't get any sketching in, but really not worrying about it because I had all that time working on the tablet.

Managed to get the faulty GPU packed up and shipped back via *Insured UPS.   Also scheduled my boobagram for next week.  Yay.  Fun.  >.<   Not really.

Temps are about to get stupid cold starting tomorrow, so it's going to take a lot to pursue more than 'bundle up and survive' mode.   But it's week 4, and I want this to come together strong!   Also?  Guys, I've been on near maintenance since Dec.    And I have not gained any weight!   In fact, I am trending eeeeever so slowly down still.    This is quite exciting.    Though, come March, I have another 3 month cut to try and get more of this floof off.    But hey,  MFP says I am on a 148 day streak.   This is, by far, the LONGEST tracking streak I have EVER had.

Face washed.   Teeth about to happen.   Bedtime is good.   Not a bad day all told.

I think shoveling iced-up snow should be an olympic sport.

Having to adjust my plan of attack continuously this week, but that's a good skill to improve so I'm gonna run with it.

Knowing I have a lot of exercise days ahead, and having been so tired yesterday from lifting + 2 shovels, I opted for today as a rest day.      Instead of working out at lunch, I did an art lesson and some practice sketching.   Huzzah!     Food was fine and tracked.    I also spent some time finishing up the picture of my assassin doing her thing.   Hard pose; not super thrilled with it, but see the potential and also realize that a year or so ago, I'd never have even tried this.   So, progress.      Face washed, teeth all done, crawling into bed now at 11:15.

I'm wound up- but I think that's because I have to work tomorrow, and I'll be driving in through temps that are sitting at -23.   Most of Northern Illinois has shut down and closed shop for the day.   Our trucks can't even make the deliveries that would come up from working tomorrow- but our boss is keeping us open.   Boo.    It's going to be SO dead and boring there.    And I'm not thrilled about the hike to work in -55 wind chills.     Lots of prayers for warmth, safety and a quick snap back to less deadly cold, would be super appreciated.

Not comparing the events, but when I worked for the toilet-paper company (middle man distributor that sold janitorial supplies to cleaning companies) we had an ice event and they expected us to come in. I don't know what for, cause practically nothing got done that day, but the company was run by baby-boomers whose whole identity was their job so there was no way in hell the office was gonna be closed. Of course, they made all the hourly employees come in on time through all the ice and the salaried executives drove in mid morning after the ice had melted.

Yeah, I suppose that could be the boss here too.   I can't complain really;  this company is super fair and easy going.   I think I just got really envious when all the other, usually more rigid, companies opted to close down.     I got in safe and warm in my "Nanook of the North" gear as my boss greeted me with this morning, lol.   Now I'm organizing my D&D campaign hah.

I do think I'll avoid working out in the warehouse today - I just don't want to strip down from these amazingly comfy warm layers.   I'll do some Just Dance at home, and use my body heat to heat up my room for the night! :D

Did the things today.

Including, but not limited to:

  • Survive the drive in to work at -23/-55 with windchill.
  • Worked an extremely boring day.
  • Organized a ton of D&D info for my campaign.
  • Sketched.
  • Worked on the tablet.
  • Danced.
  • Brush, floss and face stuff.
  • Bed before 11pm.

Another brutal cold morning tomorrow, but by midnight we'll hit 0 degrees with this warming trend.  Hooray!

Me, heading outside in the morning...

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.

Guys guys guys, hee!

So, we know that on Sept 4th, Starpuck had her heart to heart talk with herself, and realized that she was not being as honest with herself as she thought she was.   She was NOT eating as mindfully as she convinced herself she was, and she was not being nearly as consistent as she'd assumed.    So she set out on a path to change that.    She lost like 15lbs in 3 months, and was feeling super sassy!      But then her super fit boss friend pointed out, 'you should now take a 3 month break and eat closer to maintenance'.   So... she did.    And it was scary.    But she's been eating at right around maintenance for 6 weeks now.   (Like eating just shy of 1900 calories per day.  YUM!)    And the scale started crawling, sure, but she knew this was best for her body.      Well, her body has appreciated this.   For starters, eating more when it's this cold and stupid is really nice.   But the scale... it didn't go up.  And it didn't come to a stop.

I've lost another 2.5-3 pounds over the last 6 weeks, for my new lowest low in the last 5 years.   And I'm officially within 4 lbs of my lowest low in 10 years!     I have found (alright, it's been preached forever, I know) the secret ingredient.

CONSISTENCY!!!!

Here's a graph of what it looks like.   I weigh every day, so you see all those peaks and valleys.   But the dark blue line is the overall trend, and THAT's pretty cool.

WEEK 4 - Nah, let's just do teh total wrap up!

GOAL #1 - Keep up the exercise habit!

Move with intent 5x a week, get at least 2 lifts in per week.

EXERCISE 5X/ WEEK - 4/5 on week 4

||   Total break down of the 4 weeks went:  5 / 6 / 5 / 4   ||

Definitely did fine on this.   Considering we're in the cold, loveless heart of winter here in Chicago - this is pretty fantastic really.   I did not let the clouds, the cold streak, the snow, or anything else deter me into total laziness.   Success!

GOAL #2 - Keep up the homecooking!

~~Don't stop, home coooking, hold on to that ... cookbooking?~

TRACK DAILY  7X/WEEK - 7/7  on our final week.

||  All 28 days tracked.     This isn't even a thing any more.   I should probably take it off my goals.  It's definitely an easy habit now.   ||

HOMECOOKED 2X/WEEK - 2/2  on final week.

||   This too is pretty easy.   I actually prefer home cooked to restaurant now, so it doesn't seem a chore to have to do this.   I just need to expand recipes and then boldly go into ... doctoring recipes mode.   ||

GOAL #3 - Night time routine!

Recovery happens during rest, muscles grow during recovery, therefore, I should get on with this proper rest thing!

FLOSS 5X/WEEK - 7/7  Close!

WASH FACE 4X/WEEK - 7/7 Huzzah!

BED TIME 11:20 3X/WEEK  -- WITHIN 15m OF GETTING HOME ALL OTHER DAYS - Still struggling on this one.   Need to start shutting down earlier so I can be relaxed by the time lights go out.   But with the attention on it, it's been better, kinda, than without thinkign about it!

Overall, the teeth and face side of this saw VAST improvement.   Very pleased with that.    Still need to work on the sleep time.

GOAL #4 - Creative Outlets need Nurturing!

SKETCH DAILY - 2/7

WORK ON THE TABLET 4X/WEEK *  3/4

ART LESSON 1X/WEEK  1/1

D&D PREP AS NEEDED  Not too much needed as it was the week immediately after playing.

I think I might have to change the art goal - and I'm not sure that's a good idea or not.   I used to be able to get some sketching in at work during down times, but they are happening less.   Getting home, sketching, then tableting can be pretty hectic, so maybe I just need to change it to 5x a week, either or.    This might take some of the pressure off, and less pressure, I might find I get more muse and inspiration.

We'll think on it during week zero.

So, while it hasn't felt like I've been omg so stellar, looking back it sure seems like I maintained and made some progress toward new steps into new habits.    Going forward, I think I really need to examine my schedule and see what's what.   I like being busy, but I am starting to skip out on things because of being pulled too thin.    I'm also thinking it might be time for a 100% CHALLENGE REWARD - because I kind of want more D&D terrain >.> hehe.

OVERALL FEELINGS ON THINGS?

giphy.gif

Other things on the list, but not tracked.

1. Keep up with the Scripture Memorization

++ Think I've got the new verse solid now.   That makes 3 verses on the ready!

2. Keep up with the budgeting and house money savings.

++ I'm going to say this ended up being about 85% accurate.  Definitely helps me track more.  I just need to put the data in as soon as it happens, or I tend to honestly forget.

3. Learn how to use my 3D printer and start printing awesome things.

++ This is going to have to wait until the other things get settled into place.  -- But I JUST learned you can get a 3D printer download from Hero Forge for $10.  This is super inspiring!

Also ... this happened today.    After years of not even trying it (and having to relearn my pull ups) - I gave this little trick a try!
