Okay, here's my wrap-up post for this challenge.

Goal #1:  Stretching.  I did okay on this goal.  I was very good about stretching on days that I exercised, but on rest days it was difficult, mostly because it was sooooo coooooold.  It's hard to stretch when you are cold.  Also, stretching just before bed is a bad idea, because I'm so tired and all I want to do is sleep.  Stretching while toddler watches tv is a much better idea.

Goal #2:  More drilling.  I also did okay on this goal.  I practiced more often than I have in the past, which I am proud of.  But I discovered hard-shoe drilling is almost impossible in my current set-up, and building myself a practice pad is more complicated than I would have hoped and was made more difficult by the incredible sub-zero temperatures of the past week.  Hell, when dance class is canceled due to extreme cold, it's hard to work up the motivation to head down to the freezing basement and make yourself move at all, much less attempt complicated precision maneuvers.  So I'll need to modify this goal for my next challenge to include building myself practice space!

Goal #3:  Visualization.  I probably did the best at this goal, because it's easy to do thinking drills even when it's too cold to move.  But my visualization strategy needs work - it was supposed to be about promoting positive thinking around competition, but it's hard to keep one's mind focused and I kept drifting into thoughts of what parts of the choreography I need to practice.  So my next goal needs to be to get better at visualization!  :D

All in all, I think I did just fine for a first challenge occurring in difficult weather conditions.  I was very pleased by the encouragement I received here, and I will definitely be sticking around for another challenge!  Probably heading off to the assassin's guild though.

See you all around, thanks for reading!

This was how it worked out for me too.  Not so much because of the cold, though, but because stretching is so much like a workout itself that I have a hard tie getting up the energy to do it without having just finished a real workout before that :D

Can you stretch with the toddler? I used to teach a stretch class at a dance studio and our owner's toddler used to come in to class and stretch with us and she loved it! I know my friend's toddler currently does Troll yoga and adores it. I get it, my body is like, "Is cold, eat all the things, sleep all the time, survive the winter." We haven't exactly evolved to the point where our bodies accept central heating and grocery stores as a fact.

Sounds like you had a decent challenge, it wasn't perfect, but you set some goals that pushed you and you learned a lot, and that is great! You practiced more than you otherwise would have and you've taken steps toward getting a practice space put together. Sounds like a win to me!
