JessFit
Hi all, I hope you're well and those of us who are in snowy areas are staying safe and warm. I'm fully counting snow shoveling this weekend as cardio! We've got another storm brewing outside at the moment so I'll likely cardio from home tonight. I lifted on Thursday and again on Monday. I'd intended to lift on Saturday but I was snowed in and I didn't think my Jetta was up for the unplowed roads covered by over 6 inches of snow. I'm struggling with food, I basically ordered a big pizza before the snow hit and then hibernated on the couch and ate pizza every meal for 3 days straight. I'm also forgetting to track, and some days I'm aware that I'm eating utter crap and I'm not willing to face up to the reality of what the tracker will tell me. It is easier when I'm at work because I'm focused on other things and working with whatever I've prepared without too many opportunities to deviate. This week meal prep included chicken, brown rice, and roast veggies with hummus and feta and oh my gosh, it is amazing! I'm very happy with the marinade I've put together for the chicken. I'm also really struggling with my lifts. I was super harsh on myself last night. I took the opportunity to read back through some of my original challenges on here and saw how proud I was to be hitting those same numbers once upon a time and that helped me remember that these are still ok numbers. Sure, I'm not at my powerlifting best, but I'm doing well and I need to be gentle with my comeback or I won't come back at all. Sitting in the gym parking lot crying because I'm weak isn't going to do anything good for me, but is also occasionally going to happen, and that's ok too. JessFit
Soooooooo between snow storms and my dad ending up in the hospital, I got exactly nothing done this last week. I spent most of it out of town, at the hospital with my dad. I did clean yesterday after I got home, so per our previous discussion I will count that as cardio. Dad is discharged now but we're waiting to see if surgery is necessary or if he will heal without it. Here is to hoping that this week is a better week. It is going to be about -55 with the wind chill on Wednesday, and really cold the rest of the week as well, so perhaps going to the gym at 7:30 pm isn't going to happen. I feel like a total failure at this point, but I have to accept that sometimes life happens. RES
You are not a failure! No one can control things that happen but you make the best you can with what you've been given. Look at all you did accomplish!! JessFit
Thank you RES! I joined the gym at work today. It doubles my monthly gym fees, but my powerlifting gym has no cardio or class options. I haven't been going to the gym this week because of the cold and not wanting to take my car out of the garage but I take the bus to work. I got in a lunch time cardio session at the work gym today. Yesterday I got in a cardio session playing with my friend's young daughter. 4 year olds have so much energy! I've not tracked my food, that is what it is. I've been attempting to be productive though, despite my overwhelming desire to hibernate. I can't believe this challenge is just about over. Here is to the next one! RES
I (personally) think meal tracking is pretty low on the priority list. Most do it to get an idea of how much their eating, and go from there. You're doing AMAZING with everything, if you've got a good base for your diet then don't worry about tracking! RvndellMK
Quote I feel like a total failure at this point, but I have to accept that sometimes life happens. I honestly discovered the same thing this week - when the temperature falls below 10 degrees outside, I want nothing more than to curl up in a ball on the couch under a blanket and eat chocolate. I think that's why so many people fail in their New Year's resolutions to get fit - it's so hard to build a gym habit when it's so hard to get to the gym! I'm honestly impressed you got as much done as you did exercise-wise this week. Best of luck in your next challenge! 1 Quote Link to comment
BardicGarlic
Next one is coming and you are going to kill it! You are not a failure as long as you are ready to improve. You can do this! Quote 1 | Current Challenge Link to comment
