Deadlift form check (standard)

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to work on my form with a pvc pipe before hitting the barbell. What do you guys think about my form? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Hey, welcome to NF forums!

First off, standard deadlift ALWAYS starts from the bottom up. Bar should start right about shins and follow a generally straight path up to the top of the lift.

Second, do not over arch your back. Using that PVC pipe, you can work on squatting and keeping your back flat and touching the bar all the way down. The instant your lower back comes off the PVC, you've got too much arch.

Start by working on those two things, and go from there. Deadlift is one of the most complex lifts to master formwise, so be patient.
