I Dwell in Possibility.....but Consistency's the Key

Recommended Posts

I've been a passive NF viewer for a while but this year I'm committing to change.

I'm really good at and extremely motivated by short term goals and get a kick out of recording and tracking things - you name it...to do lists..reading lists...workouts...

I've realised that short bursts of commitment are not leading me to sustainable success.

I need consistency.

I need to give up obsessing about perfection.

I need to trust the process.

I need to feed my inner librarian nerd and record and track data.

So here I am.

My plan is to use this thread in conjunction with any 4 week challenges I participate in and keep myself accountable.

So here we go for 2019!

My hip/glute is still quite sore and not sure if Yoga's helping or exacerbating it but we'll see.

You seem to be doing OK with your consistency so far this year. Well done.

It looks like you are missing out days of the yoga course when you have a day off. How come you don't carry on with the next workout the next time you do one? Also, I've not heard of barre before - what's that. And I know what Body Pump is, are you going to a class to do it?

The YOGA I was following was date specific so I just did the workout for the relevant day - I didn't go back and "catch up" as it were.

I'm often crippled by perfectionism so I wanted to allow myself "off" days and not just give up because I'd missed something, or obsess about doing ALL the sessions.

I decided to follow the "never miss two in a row" rule and it seems to work for me. :)

I usually missed a practice if I was really busy or out for the night as I normally do it just before bed.

Barre is a Ballet style exercise class - using ballet moves for strengthening.

Yeah I go to a Body Pump class at my local gym.

I'd like to aim for 300 days of Yoga this year - so that would allow about 5 days off per month.

Aiming for sustainable consistency.
