Lizzo is the best because: * she's musically incredible * she dances like a dream * SHE LOVES HERSELF, LIKE, A LOT. Everyone is loving on Lizzo right now too and I'm so excited! this girl has been working HARD to get to peak popularity. I saw her in 2015 when she was touring with Sleater Kinney and SHE WAS SO AMAZING and I fell right in love with her then, and now that she's blowing up all the medias I want an excuse to post all my favorite songs. Goal 1: Love your body. I've been feeling funny about my body lately, in part because since starting exercise party about a year ago I've gained lots of muscle, but also, some more fat, too. I need to get back in the habit of appreciating my freakin amazing and powerful body no matter how much of a cozy chub blanket I currently have draped over my ab muscles right now. For this goal I'm going to be squashing negative thoughts and taking weekly photos of my body. I want to get my brain in shape because looking forward, I plan on doing some kind of a cut so I can better show off my awesome newish muscles a little better. Goal 2: Fuel your body. I need to keep staring at my numbers because I wasn't super reliable about logging last challenge. I also want to see what it looks like if I eat more protein. I have a goal set in loseit to eat 130 g of protein a day based on 1 g of protein per lb of lean body mass as estimated by my bathroom scale. I'd like to get to 100+ g of protein a day, and aim for the 130. Right now, FYI, loseit has me calculated at 2450 cal/day for maintenance. I'd really like to nail that number, and also the 130, and see what happens this month. Goal 3: Rest your body. I have been consistently in the 5 1/2 hours of sleep/night camp (per my fitbit) for a very long time. I need to get that back squeaked over 6 hours/night. I don't expect to do it all at once, so I'll phase it in. My bedtime has been sneaking later and later, so I need to push it earlier and earlier. Ultimate goal is to get back over 6 hours / weekly average by the end of the challenge. backstory. I'm karinajean, 41, live in NY state, commute to NJ about an hour each way where I manage projects and clean up hazardous waste. I joined the NFA in October 2013 and transitioned over to the big scary boards (ahem, these forums) in April 2014. Since I discovered NR, I've lost about 25 lbs, tore my ACL / had it replaced with a cadaver ligament and rehabbed it, ran a bunch of running things, took over instruction for a class at the dojo, started with some weight lifting, and have increased by weight by about 20 lbs (note NOT all clean muscle lolz). CURRENTLY I practice tae kwon do several times a week, take weapons and boxing classes in addition, and have a long-time overarching fitness goal of doing good form push- and pull-ups. I accidentally started doing crossfit in February 2018 and have been attending classes regularly since then. I have a crazy mean (yet super sweet) cat and live with my husband full time and my younger stepdude 1/2 time. the 2nd stepdude is In college out of state. That one time I saw her (possibly the only time, THANKS SCALPER BOTS) she and sophia eris threw cookies from cute baskets out to the audience. Week 1! this week was shaping up to be a total disaster party. See, we're supposed to get snow tomorrow, but I was supposed to drive 2 1/2 hours south for a meeting on tuesday with a new client and a state agency, so I if they were going to have the meeting, I knew I'd need to attend... I threw 2 days of clothes and a snow shovel into my car this morning because I didn't know if I'd need to drive south after work, or back home again. LUCKILY the meeting was cancelled! (I'll have to go another time, which isn't lucky, but whatever.) So instead of CF tomorrow I'm planning to shovel, and TKD will likely be canceled (we follow the local school district closing schedule). and the 2 meetings that I have in the evening at the town may or may not be cancelled. Day 1. Today was CF (ridiculous workout with 15 power snatches (LOLZ), 12 air squats, 9 burpees, 6 front squats.... a total of 3 rounds for time), and there was a new person there which is GREAT because I want him to have more 5AM students so it's not just weirdo me and also because she cusses as much as I want to during exercises (a lot of f-bombs when he told us the next thing to do, which is SUPER appropriate at 5AM). Also, just for the record I know everyone swears up and down by spaghetti in the instant pot but we tried it last night and I don't think it's worth it, honestly. I tried this recipe and maybe it was not having fresh basil but the cooking time came out weird and it just wasn't as delicious as I had hoped. This is the only recipe I've tried from this book so far that I wasn't in love with. Goal 1: Love your body. I meant to take a bathroom mirror selfie this morning for my bod but forgot. oops. Goal 2: Fuel your body. we're having meat 2x today (leftover spaghetti and meatballs for lunch, and taco night) so that's hopeful on the protein front. Goal 3: Rest your body. I thought I could function on sub 6 hours for a long time because I did it in college - I tried it in the working world and quickly found out that I could NOT function on that little without the during class naps that were a hallmark of my college years (plus the 10 hour sleep binges on the weekends). karinajean Posted February 12, 2019 Author Report Share Posted February 12, 2019 weeeelllll I wasn't sure what was going to happen yesterday but I really didn't expect Nineteen to call me just after lunch to let me know that he wasn't able to get out of bed because his back was flaring up. I went over to his house and we tried to loosen it up with heat and pain killers but after a few hours of that, we called for an ambulance ride to the ER. they gave him an anti-inflammatory injection and he was able to stand and walk on his own but overnight he immediately stiffened up again, and last night getting him comfortable was pretty rough. happily, my meeting today was cancelled because of the snow, so I am able to work at home (as is my husband) and sit with Nineteen who has subsequently stiffened up again, and is still not really able to stand up yet from bed. we have a docs appt for Thursday but it's pretty stressful, and the poor kid is frustrated and freaked out. Theoretically the anti-inflammatories and stretching (if I can make him stretch!) should help but he is SO stiff and tight. he has always been a very inflexible person physically and it's really exacerbating the problem. (he has been in treatment for a herniated disk for a few weeks and says he overdid it this weekend working on tractors with his uncle. this feels like a really ugly setback.) it's snowing, as expected. I'll be going out to shovel in a little bit for my lunch time break. it's also supposed get pretty gnarly with ice later, and I'm totally looking forward to that exercise opportunity.
