Habits for Life - Rising with the Sun

I'm not sure how much I can change my routine and if I can stick to it, but let's try!

This year's theme for me is all about enjoying the Sun (with SPF, always) and feeling energetic, so let's start with rising :)

 

1. Rising with the Sun

- -> The sun rises at 7:30, and so will I. That's simple enough (or is it?)

 

- -> Start off the day well with 5 minute breathing exercises, followed by a 30 minute meditation.

 

 

 

2. Let's get things moving!

The last few months haven't been super positive and I feel a little (hum, a lot?) stuck atm.

Let's try adding some movement and structure to my week and see what happens.

 

- -> Study Japanese for 30 minutes every morning. Let's wake up those brain cells!

 

- -> Move/workout every week day.

I'm not picky this time around. It doesn't matter what I do, where or when, how intense it is, what body part it targets... as long as I'm moving for 30 minutes every day.

Seeing how lazy I've been lately, this will not be easy, lemme tell ya!

 

- - > Stretching routine every evening. It makes me feel great, helps me sleep better, I love doing it... why did I stop, again?

 

 

 

3. Just DO it!

- - > My husband challenged me to watch Shia Labeouf's "Just Do it" video every morning to get me out of my rut.

Let's try it?

 

 

Nothing like bright kpop to get (me) charged up and energised!

Well you can't make friends unless you say hi to them :P

Today:

 

I failed to get up on time AND to practice Japanese.

BUT

I did 30 minutes of random low impact cardio + bodyweight/pilates type exercise. I feel good but I can already tell the DOMS are coming xD

Did my stretches and it feels gooood!

Did the breathing + meditation this morning.

And watched Shia scream "DO IT" at me. I think I'll watch the entire motivational video tomorrow. I need more energy thrown at me!

 

Since I'm going to bed too late again, I'll aim to get up at 8:00 tomorrow; we'll see if that's helpful or counterproductive.

Day 2!

 

Got up at 8:15

Did breathing exercise + meditation in the morning + Shia's Do it!!

40 min gentle yoga + Japanese study this afternoon

Now off to do some stretching and to bed!

Yay! Thank you!

I actually woke up with a clear head but my body was dead! I stayed in bed 45 minute after the alarm, awake, just not moving xD I'm still motivated to do some exercise today, so that's cool!

Day 3!

 

Got up slightly late due to being totally dead and unable to move for a while xD also failed to practice Japanese again.

Did breathing exercise + meditation in the morning

Went for a beach walk this afternoon, got in about 1 hour in total

Watched Shia with hubby tonight, still awesome!

 

Overall, I feel good and happy about the day.

Tomorrow I"ll get started on Duolingo again, that'll help with structure.

 

Let's stretch and go to sleep!

I LOVE THAT SONG! :)

Nice going on your challenge too. How are you finding Duolingo? I stopped after it made me learn important phrases such as "the reindeer is a vegetarian".. although appropriate for Sweden I guess :D

 

Also, if you ever need a different Shia-related video, this is brilliant:

Thanks! It popped up in my youtube feed too, so I'm extra curious now :D

 

I like Duolingo a lot, as side practice.

I have a book to learn grammar, vocabulary, etc. with structured units and all kinds of exercise, and I always liked Duolingo on the side to recap things I know, reuse vocab, etc.

I never recommend it on its own though.

But knowing about Reindeers is all important for you now, for sure! haha!

Day 4!

 

Woke up at 8:30 again

Did breathing exercise + meditation (though my mind suuuuuper restless today)

Watched Shia this morning (and might fit in one more do it tonight, can't get enough of it apparently)

Got in my Japanese practice finally! I'm really happy that I did not forget my Hiragana despite an 8 months break :D

I didn't feel like doing sweaty exercise so I tried Qi Gong off Youtube this afternoon. It was way more intense than I'd thought!

I'll try to do my stretches and night routine before 22:00 from now on, so that I can go to bed as soon as I start to feel tired and, at most, only have to brush my teeth.
