lucky fire dragon - rock paper scissors

Recommended Posts

A bit late to the party and yet there so much to do! High time I put my challenge up and get some oooomph going again  :D

For those who don't know me, I'm a happy go lucky fire dragon from Germany that used to fly around pole and a bitty on the aerial hoop as well, then kind of fell into a slumber of inertia and padded up a little... Life was still moving, but fitness not so much and I discovered how the longer the gap between things, the harder the hurdle to get started again. Well, the hurdle was crushed during end of 2018 and my January challenge this year was like reaping from the three or so before in terms of it going super well and me feeling like I can do this fitness thing again ^_^

I even managed a nice balance of fitness, family, work and household things, go me.

Thanks to a silly stubborn cold, I lost momentum a little and could not wooosh into this challenge like I would have loved to, but I'm getting better everyday and it's time to rock another challenge :)

Talking about rock, I've got a theme song this time, check it out :D

This song always puts me into a good mood and helps me take all those flippin decisions in my life less seriously. I really believe we can change like the weather and watch out I might just do that

I'll spend the last week of this challenge in an intense meditation retreat with Dr Joe Dispenza in Bonn, Germany and am beyond excited about it, squeeeeeeeeee
(There are so many possible challenge themes in preparing myself for it, that I had trouble choosing  and don't ask me how I ended up with this song instead, I really don't know) Anyway...

No way of knowing what all will happen there, but I am expecting the unexpected and new for sure ^_^ Miracles even, as a lot of people have spontaneous healings at these events. While I don't have any health issue that needs healing, I am very keen on learning how to help others better in their healing.

Also am really curious what activities await us for going beyond common comfort zones, have to admit heights might really freak me (they never used to when I was younger) at the same time I remember the boost of energy I had after the two fire walks I had the chance to go on some years ago and this might be similar in having conquered things that my mind tells me I can't. Climbing up a pole like they did in this event would be soooooo awesome, the feeling at the top must have been utterly amazing!

But before I go, there is lots that I want to get done still. A good chunk of work projects that I'd like to progress on, some house keeping stuff (that always seems to pile up), getting back into my training rhythm plus adding some pole fun, keeping up my meditations and experimenting with intermittent fasting.... Basically I want to do all the things again :)

Rock, Paper, Scissors, which one is it going to be....?
Let's see how often I can go for each of them ^_^

ROCK

- Strength training 2x/week

- Pole PvP with @Mad Hatter and who knows where that will lead to .... ^_^

plus

- rock solid foundation in meditation: rise and meditate at 4am (Mon - Fri) or 5am (Sat/Sun)

CarelessForkedCricket-small.gif

PAPER

- tend my website, get some more audio recordings up and update some texts

- write a nice article and send it out with a newsletter

- get accounting done for January

plus

- some reflection on my day on actual paper at night or coloring in on paper instead of on screens ;)

latest?cb=20120508000127

SCISSORS

- cutting down my eating times again; going for 16/8 and maybe an occasional longer fast in between

- cutting and pasting motivational images into a mind movie to encourage me into bold, new adventures
(this is actually preparation for the meditation retreat, so I better get on it asap)

plus

- cutting screens out of the hour before bed time

might have to rediscover some creative things :)

For completions sake: this is actually my favorite song by Katzenjammer, but it didn't match the theme so nicely... maybe some other time. Would make an interesting one for sure

Hello LFD! Glad to hear you are feeling better! I want a theme song for my challenge now too, I love your structure!

Thanks, happy to have you pop by :cheerful:

Oh gosh you should have seen how long I was browsing for which song to take :hopelessness: First I wanted to take "Worth it" in the motivational sense of committing cause I'm worth it, but then I watched the music video and... well, it's just so not my style  so I looked at "Natural" by Imagine Dragons, which is a great movement song, but oh gosh, I really don't want to identify with that kind of natural  never got the complete lyrics before... don't know how I got to Katzenjammer, but it was definitely a good one for this time, so I'm sticking to it now

Not really no, not feeling creative right now. :P

that's okay, now you have to live with what I put up to get us started :P

I was really goofing around quite a bit with the black hoodie on and all, but most of it looked so ridiculous, you will never get to see it  had fun though. During the second part I kept checking if the camera is at the right angle and forgot that now it looks like I am solemnly looking into the camera, oh well...

as I say, you and I will have to take it as is now and see where it leads to.

So good to have finally spun around a bit again! Looking forward to more, especially when I can get some hold and grip and strength again

Sooooooo, believe it or not, I AGAIN did not go to gym today :(

Reason being that hubby went for an eye checkup at the optometrist last week and she detected that his one eye didn't have full range of vision anymore, meaning the right bottom quarter of his field of vision wasn't working on that eye at all. It gave him quite a shock of course and we thought that most likely it was a nerve damage from an accident 20 years ago, when a car had run him over and he had a whole bunch of injuries, one of which led to an embolism behind the eyes that impaired his vision temporarily at the time. All those years he was fine though, only recently started having problems with missing the tennis ball from time to time and vision being weaker at night when he is tired.

Last weeks result got him a bit anxious though,  and we decided he go for a thorough check up at the eye doctor after all, who can check for any infections on the nerve or the like. As eye doctors are usually booked full well in advance, we were quite surprised when we called this morning for an appointment and they said 10am today!

So .... no gym sadly BUT great news instead: the eye doctor checked in all possible ways and found no damage on the nerves whatsoever, yay!!! What a relief!

The little bit of lesser eye sight is in such a range that he doesn't even necessarily need glasses, so we immediately went back to the optometrist, cancelled the expensive glasses that he had ordered after their check-up and got him really good sun glasses instead. He needs those because since that accident 20 years back, his eyes are very light sensitive and the old ones were super scratched by now. He didn't want to spend too much money on it as we're a bit tight again at the moment, but now with not needing the other glasses, we could easily go for high quality here and it still came out cheaper. Double yay.

I am sooooo relieved.

Tomorrow it's high time for gym again though :D

---------------

Generally I am struggling in this week 1. Yesterday I procrastinated a big portion of the day and did not work on any PAPER goals. Today, it was late afternoon by the time I kicked my ass into it, but finally I got some done now that feels (as I knew it would) really good.

PAPER: 1 win today :triumphant:

-----------------

Meditation needed big kicks in the bum as well the past days and today I did not manage :( very sad and HAS to be remedied tomorrow!!!

The meditation course I am teaching at a company twice a week in the mornings is going really well though, so there is that.

AND today, out of the blue, I got an email by the team of Insight Timer, asking me if I want to be one of their meditation teachers for the German speaking community and would be interested in offering some of my meditations on their platform! How's that?

It looks like a sincere offer and while I don't have any illusions on it bringing me much income (the app is for free after all and I'd only earn from what people would donate voluntarily) I am very much tempted to go for it. A bit nervous in case nobody likes them :P but what if people do? It could be a win-win in terms of more people finding me without me having to invest any money into marketing, while they get the meditations I upload for free.

What do you guys think? Should I go for that?

--------------

Fasting is a battle as well at the moment, but I did manage my 16 hours today again, so yay on that. I am missing my workouts and have a feeling once I am back into that routine, fasting might be easier again. At least I hope so :D

-----------

Screen free time before bed was achieved by choir rehearsal (yesterday) and a hot bath (the night before), but no journaling or drawing just yet.

This week 1 feels like a sluggish one

oh well, I'm still moving...

Hi there. Just found your challenge. I'd say go for doing the meditation for them. Well, I'd say that with a few caveats- if you have the time, and if it isn't too much of a time drain since you don't get paid much. But it is something you enjoy doing, it would be helpful, you might get some money, it also might lead to more  such opportunities.

Ow, so glad for you and obviously for hubby! A pair of good quality sunglasses is a must. I'm contemplating getting a pair of prescription glasses, as I'm now constantly wearing my glasses and they don't have any glare protection, etc. on, and I'm not allowed to drive without glasses (contacts don't give me the same vision enhancement anymore). But Africa sun!

I agree with @Elastigirl. Go for it, with all the caveats. I think if you can get your name out there through various means (especially if you don't have to pay for marketing), it will broaden the field where your name will be seen. And you know how these things work... one thing leads to another; word of mouth spreads way more, especially positive w.o.m. which you tend to gather :D

Week 1 was a drag for me too. Chuck it up as you did what you did, and now will tackle week 2 with something to work on. I'm at the same place, especially w.r.t. monthly finances. After I've done the dailies, I'm not in the mood to sit with another half hour or hour of finances.

Absolutely, that's awesome!! Insight Timer has great reviews and you can't really lose by adding your meditations there. In absolutely worst case nobody will find them, but some people will definitely like them! You already have a bunch of people that love your meditations, so statistically speaking there will be more people that will love them simply because you're reaching a bigger target audience. :) Do eeeet!

Hai there :cheerful: always very happy to have you on board!

Thank you for your input, that was my sentiment as well. I have now made a zoom appointment with the lady who contacted me (manager of the German speaking community) and replied that I am definitely interested. The appointment is next Wednesday which gives me time to get familiar with the app and note down my questions as I think of them. Quite excited about this ^_^

True! At least for him. I hate glasses of any kind and rather squint my eyes, which might account for some extra wrinkles in my face  but really I hardly ever need them. Hubby though often even needs them on cloudy days and these ones now get darker or lighter as needed, depending on how bright the light is and he loves them.

Comforting to hear, although I would rather wish you more ease as well. Can very much relate to the finance effort! It's awaiting me as well during the next two weeks, meh

HALLELUJA

i-did-it-5ae2d3.jpg

Finally got a proper workout in again, yay :triumphant:

ROCK was solid today: got up at 4am for my meditation (despite huge effort) and did the thing

after the kids were off to school hubby and me went to gym and I did the thing there

10 min warm up at the rowing machine (oh well 11 minutes, because I was taking it slow and wanted to get my 2km in though, sat with a scarf there to avoid the cool draft from the machine while you row   must have looked very sexy)

3x12 reps at the squat machine (15kg)

3x12 reps at the bench press machine (20kg)

3x12 reps at the triceps kickdown (12.5 kg)

3x12 reps bicep curls (5kg each hand)

3x12 reps lateral arm lifts (4kg each hand) those are sooooo hard still :o

3x12 barbell rows (10kg)

plus the 3 supersets of

14 mountain climbers (7 each side) followed immediately by 14 Russian Twists with a 4kg medicine ball (also 7 reps each side)

In between hubby did some chin ups and I thought, I'd try as well, but ahahaha no way today!

There were two personal trainers busy with clients today and it seems it pains them to see someone try an exercise and give up after a first no-good attempt  so first the one came running with some rubber bands for assisted pull ups, then seeing how it was still a tricky set up (the rubber bands were too short to put your foot in, but needed the knee and that kind of made for a wobbly balance overall, plus they didn't help me up high enough, only helped the lower part, whereas the hardest part for me is the top part) the other trainer approached us with an alternative at a different pull up bar, where I could adjust the strap and could insert my foot rather and managed 5 chin ups fine, yay :)

Probably could have done a few more, but I had not yet finished my workout and wanted to keep a little strength for those weights...

Headstand afterwards went surprisingly well, yay, despite feeling really tired in my muscles and my abs being fried from the mountain climber / Russian twist combo

All in all a great workout and I am SOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY I finally could go again!!!

Cough is still not entirely gone, I hope it won't get worse again from this, but I don't think it will.

--------

PAPER was another success today: I edited 3 more meditation recordings and uploaded 9 into the course area for my participants, tended the site a little along with it AND I got back to the lady from Insight timer. Win :)

Not sure about the screen free time before bedtime though... my motivation for that has gone travelling far away again, I wonder what on Earth made me set this goal

Oh well, I will leave it in for now and see...  maybe I can bring myself to it after all

-------

Fasting was kept food wise, but I did sneak in a cup of sweet tea in the morning, so strictly that broke it early :/

Temptations lurking everywhere at the moment, sigh.

Oh well, tomorrow might be a whole new day on this, too, who knows.

Then are you going to be in Insight Timer? I've been using it for a couple of years, to track my breathing, yoga and such, and I've also done some guided meditation there. It's a nice app to use, although I'm not too much on the social aspect of it. Tell us when you'll upload something, I'd like to hear your voice, even if I won't understand a word (or maybe you could do as other meditation teachers do and provide translations to other languages?)

And I agree with Elastigirl, it could open ways for more opportunities there. There is a huge amount of people using that app.

I was browsing through it a bit today and I really like the timer options. The guided meditations in English have a huge variety which is wonderful. German content is much less, which makes it better for me ;) Now I am just thinking, I want to put on some that I am confident people will really enjoy from the beginning. My regular crowd have been with me for years some of them and that does make them a bit biased ;) when listening to a new teacher one tends to be more critical I think and yet first impressions are so important... no pressure that I am building here :P

Just found myself highly critical of some of the other German teachers (very enlightened I know :P ) and now I am scheming how to go about it best :D

Oh boy. But it's going to be fun, I can feel it.

Aww thanks! I'll do that. And yes, I could do some English ones too. The one I put together for @annyshay flowed so nicely, I was quite proud of it and if she is ok with it I'd edit any personal references out (if there even are any) and would like to upload that one. There is also one I created for @Lightning where that could be an option as well. Annyshay, what do you think?

I saw that, and what with so much less German content at the moment, chances are people would really find me there by chance, too. Oh boy, this is quite exciting. I won't put my expectations too high (well I'll try not to :P ) but it is a new adventure in any case, so yay

Today I have DOMS

Cough is not worse, woot woot. My arms are fried and I am really happy about this kind of soreness, @zenLara knows what I am talking about ^_^

So today I did clean the house, scrubbed the bathrooms and did a little meditative movement flow on my feet up and that was it.

------

On a totally different subject: I just found out my team color and mascot for the meditation retreat and I LOVE IT. My team color is Forest, which is perfect as my favorite place for the walking meditations is the forest and I love forests overall. The team mascot is the German wild cat - how cool is that?!

Felis_silvestris_silvestris_Luc_Viatour.

Talk about strength and grace :D

This is what our team leader wrote about it:

The cat wisdom tells us about timing in action and courage to explore the unknown.  Our mascot invites and encourages us to develop balance between independence (our personal need for freedom) and time of togetherness.  This is the time to develop our flexibility at many different levels, weather it is in our physical body, mind and emotions.

It’s an invitation to renew our perspective and to explore new ways to look at things.  Harmonious relationships between action and observation, the balance between seemingly opposites, such as inner and outer, act & rest. It’s strongly symbolic of the connection with our curiosity, in the exploration of the unknown.

So let’s follow this spirit animal and embark on a profound journey of self discovery, reaching a deep, relaxed connection with the self.  It’s time to heal from the inside out, from our inner truths, from the mystical.

I am so so excited, guys!!!! No need to say I love cats and that courage is exactly my goal to grow more into this year. I was thinking this morning as I played on my feet up, flirting with my limitations (both physical and in my mind only) how I'd like to try and turn from fear to fun on so many levels. Because when I face what scares me it often does turn out fun in the end. It's so liberating and makes life more colorful, it feels. So I went a bit further in my movements than I would normally dare, same as I want to go deeper into self exploration during that upcoming retreat than I normally can or do.

The teams are there to create a more personal community within the overall group. We'll be over 1300 participants and the groups consist of "only" 50 - 60 people each. We're encouraged to wear something matching our team color and/or mascot and some people dress up in the most fun ways, hubby said. With superhero capes and whatever all :)

I am thinking of turning something like this into a hair wreath and maybe clipping these birds onto it?

Although now that I know our mascot is the wild cat, the birds might be off theme. In that case I might have to sparkle the wreath up with some moss and maybe flowers, but I am so clueless as what are forest flowers

Any ideas anyone?

Anyway that's it for today. Meditation this morning was a bit later than planned but a thorough 90 minute one that felt real good and fasting was properly kept today as well :) Now I get to eat homemade Sushi, prepared by my son, how spoilt am I ^_^

I'd love to try one of your meditations in English!

Thank you :cheerful:

Am really not sure if they'd be your style though... I am very much on the soft and soothing side and it might be way too fluffy for your taste

I'd still love to hear. :)  The funny thing about your writing at least - and I'm saying this in the most positive way - is that sometimes I think that what you're saying should be way too woo woo for me, but you have such a lovely way of delivering it that I don't mind at all!
