Trying to ease back in so going to keep it simple this time with four goals.

I'll be 45 next month, I'm a married mother of one adult daughter  with three cats. I'm in Marketing & Communications technology. My BMI is 31, even though that number is skewed by my medical condition, primary lymphedema, I am overweight and want to lose 50 lbs to get back into a healthy range. I set the goal for 2 years for that weight loss. I'm an introvert and want to be social, but struggle with sharing regularly and meaningfully. I appreciate interaction and try to reply to all who follow along and cheer me on.

Nutrition

  • Log Food

I did the two week trial of Noom, I haven't decided if I'm going to keep at it, but in 10 days, because I was tracking my food again, I lost 4.6 lbs. If I'm going to reach my goal of losing 25 lbs this year, then this seems to be a key for me.

Fitness

  • Move Every Day (at least 5 of 7 days)
  • Steps +300 (min avg 2000)

I need to remain active for my own well being. I often don't want to, but I need to get this to be a habit. So I'm going to start small and just try to do a little something every day. Jumping jacks, push ups, etc. the basic stuff in the body weight workout, but just picking one set of one exercise to get in the habit.

Also, time change means more daylight so I have no excuse not to get more steps in. I want to slowly work my way back up to a good rate. My goal is to maintain an average of 2000 steps per day. But, my push is to do 300 steps more than I do the day before. My plantar fasciitis is managed right now, but any movement seems to wake it up, so my goal is to keep on top of that too.

Level up your life

  • Bonus: Estate Planning

My husband and I are traveling this summer... things happen, so it makes sense to make sure all of our affairs are in order before this happens. Starting now in case some of these things take time.

That's it. That's where I'm at.

Where are you traveling to?

We're doing a road trip in California, 14 or so days. Up from Southern California, to Mammoth, Tahoe, Lakeport, across to the coast, to the Muir woods, down to Monterey, PCH and who knows where all in between. We're still working on our itinerary. :)

Definitely needing to keep it small this time and start building those habits again. Yesterday I just completely forgot to do my goals... like, it didn't even cross my mind until I was getting ready for bed. Oops.

New day... and I commit to doing my goals today. :)

If you want to talk any time, just send me a PM. Acquiring new social contacts as an adult is hard, but not impossible. Coming here is a good first step, and we will kick you if you don't check in regularly ;).

Stealing this update style from @Waanie, thank you!

Week 0, Sunday

Log Food: Logged breakfast, lunch and dinner (1/7)

Move Every Day (at least 5 of 7 days):  I did 30 squats while I was brushing my teeth. (1/7)

Steps +300 (min avg 2000): 1721 steps (yesterday was 7291 because we went hiking, didn't make my goal of 300 more, or even my minimum) (6473/14,000)

Estate Planning: I downloaded checklists and forms to get started. (1/1)

Week 0, Monday

Log Food: I logged the meals I prepped plus the Hello Fresh meal. (2/7)

Move Every Day (at least 5 of 7 days):  Went to the gym and did 10 minutes of cycle, but my trainer made me go home instead of completing the whole routine. I hit my head earlier in the day and I was suffering a doozy of a headache, the exercise made it worse. She was worried about concussion, so sent me home to be safe. My husband checked me out when I got home and said I was okay. I'm counting it as one of my movements anyway because I did do 10 full minutes on the bike and that's the same as doing some squats or pushups. (2/7)

Steps +300 (min avg 2000): 4761 steps (yesterday was 1721, so definitely 300 more) (6473/14,000)

Estate Planning: Nothing, I kind of had expected to have a call from the Wells Fargo Estate Planning people, but I didn't get anything. (1/1)

Week 0, Tuesday

Log Food: I logged the meals I prepped plus the Hello Fresh meal. (3/7)

Move Every Day (at least 5 of 7 days):  Totally forgot about this and did nothing. (2/7)

Steps +300 (min avg 2000): 2927 steps (yesterday was 4761, so not 300 more, but met min) (9400/14,000)

Estate Planning: Nothing. (1/1)

Great that you're still mostly on track. You are allowing yourself to not move for a maximum of 2 days per week, so 1 missed day is actually part of the plan ;).

Personally I think that the 300 steps more is an almost impossible goal, since it means that by the end of the challenge you have to walk more than 10k steps every day and you cannot have a great day in the middle because that means that all following days have to be even greater. Maybe you can reformulate it such that it is more realistic and does not punish a lot of steps on one day? I like your weekly average, maybe you can complement it with a daily minimum of, say, 1000 steps?

I may not have written out my goal well, sorry for the confusion and alarm. You are right I am definitely not about to hit 10k by the end of the challenge.

My goal is a minimum of 2,000 steps per day, with a stretch goal of reaching +300 over the day prior.

Here's my chart for this week.

1,712.00 4,761.00 2,927.00 4,201.00 4,223.00

Day 2 to 3, I didn't come close to making my +300, but I got over 2,000 and that's what matter. Yesterday, again, I didn't come close to +300, but I got over 2,000.

Day 1 I didn't meet either goal, but I'm on a roll now.

My objective is really to challenge myself to do more... my minimum of 2000 is 1/5 of the daily recommended and I need to get better. But I'm not trying to kill myself!

Week 0, Wednesday

Log Food: I logged the meals I prepped plus the Hello Fresh meal. (4/7)

Move Every Day (at least 5 of 7 days):  Went back to the gym and did a full hour workout. (3/7)

Steps +300 (min avg 2000): 4201 steps (yesterday was 2927, so  300 more, yay) (12327/14,000)

Estate Planning: Nothing. (1/1)

Week 0, Wednesday

Log Food: I logged the meals I prepped plus the Hello Fresh meal. (5/7) I also officially commited to the Noom plan for 6 months. Yikes.

Move Every Day (at least 5 of 7 days):  Forgot again. I had it in my head on my drive home, but when I got home I started grocery list and meal planning and that took forever because I was trying to find Noom approved recipes, and so...it just slipped my mind. But this morning I did my activity while I was getting ready this morning, so it's done for the day.(3/7)

Steps +300 (min avg 2000): 4223 steps (yesterday was 4201, so not 300 more, that's ok, met the min.) (17824/14,000)

Estate Planning: Nothing. (1/1)

Tonight I'm going to an art class and I'm so excited. For more than a year I've been watching Instagram videos of acrylic paint pours, and tonight I actually get to go try one. I'm sure my first won't be amazing, but I'm still excited. Now if I could just come up with a color palette I want to use. Happy Friday everyone!

What does the plan consist of? Their website is a bit vague, so I'm genuinely curious what makes them different from other programs.

Art class update:

I will post a picture following this update. The class was awesome. I went in there with a color scheme and idea to create something to honor our volcano marred vacation to Hawaii last year. I love what I was able to create and the technique was so much easier than I expected! I can see doing this again for some other projects. I can't come up with a reason to invest in the setup and supplies and do it all the time, but I'm hoping I can come up with some special projects and gift ideas for special people over the next year.

Your week 0 looks very successful. Congrats!!

Beautiful painting! I have been looking up acrylic pours lately and they look so fun. I am planning on maybe doing it at the cottage with the girls sometime this summer. It just seems like such a fun thing to do..messy lol but fun.

Sounds like a fun trip planned. I have only done bits and pieces of the coast drive from time to time.

Art class looks fun. :)

That's right, you're up near San Jose... anything you'd recommend me putting on my must see list? Class was so much fun!

It wasn't as messy as I thought it was going to be, they had it organized well and made it easy for us. I would definitely recommend it!

It's much more about changing your mental patterns. It's all in an app and there are articles and quizzes to teach you, or reteach you about having a healthy relationship with food. They focus on caloric density of foods and they teach you psychology tricks about bundling habits, setting goals and stuff like that. So that it's really a lifestyle change, not just a meal plan or workout plan you follow for a while and then finish.

This is cool! I heard that food-education is really limited in the US, so it's good to teach people about "normal healthy" eating.

How did week 1 go?
