Terah Posted March 11, 2019 Report Share Posted March 11, 2019 My name is Terah And I'm a recovering yo-yo dieter. With my first diet at age eight I can honestly say I'm a diet veteran. But as it goes with diets, it only made me heavier. Sure, diets work for some people (5% of all dieters keep the weight off), but clearly not for me. The last half year I've been working on intuitive eating. I find it sad that something as basic as eating can get so twisted nowadays. The last step of Intuitive eating is gentle nutrition. Last challenge I've been experimenting with this: - I've tracked my food for a few weeks (this is not triggering for me anymore, yay!). I tried to mess around with calories, only to get binge thoughts again. So that's a big no. - I've experimented with changing the macro's, and it turns out if I focus on getting a bit more protein than I was eating I feel better (more energy, more satiated). - Also real foods make me feel better than processed ones (who knew?!). Even if I bake cookies or a cake myself instead of buying them prepackaged they fill me up more and make me feel better. - Intermittent fasting (16/8 usually) makes me feel really good: I get more energy, less brain fog, my astma goes away, my skin looks better. So that's a yes (This image is probably only funny when you've taken dance classes. Because it's really accurate ) I'm still experimenting with gentle movement. My findings for now: - I love dancing (big surprise here ), and I do well when I take two classes in a row (2 hours approx.) - Strength training makes me feel good and strong, but the process itself is so boring. I've tried different routines, I listen to music, do stuff between sets (like hanging laundry or work). But I haven't found the magic formula yet. So if anyone has some thoughts about this I would love to hear it. - A 30/40 minute strength routine is perfect. It's not so much that it makes me feel drained, and not too little so I don't feel like I've done anything. - Yoga helps me clear my mind and loosen my muscles when needed. Life right now is pretty busy: work, keeping up the house and my two boys keep me plenty busy. Intuitive eating helped me clear some head space for those things, by getting rid of a lot of obsessive food thoughts. The short of it is, it doesn't have to be sitting there with free weights/dumb bells/ bar bells. What do you enjoy doing that you could do with weight? a sand bag is super cheap at most hardware stores and you can adjust the weight as you want, they can be used for many things. 1 gallon of water is 8 lbs. I used to have a slosh pipe i used for training (I should make another one it was a lot of fun) https://www.fitnessblender.com/articles/slosh-pipe-workout-the-best-slosh-pipe-exercises. Or if you have the room get some hay bails or tires you can flip and move around. Or hit the tire with a sledge hammer. Lately I've been using gardening as my strength training. Trimming trees, moving branches, digging holes, moving pavers. Depending on the size of your boys, if you're still picking them up, that in itself I know can be weight training. One thing I'm trying is called Made Strong, there's lots of things to choose from but the pattern (lift, carry, hinge, etc). My boys are both about 25 kgs, so a bit too heavy for me to be tossing around. The thing I find boring is that it doesn't challenge you intellectually. With dancing I have to figure out how to do the steps, and than remember them. I'm on top of my business, dancing is still a lot of fun, my boys are doing really well and I'm happy So, now this boring stuff is out of the way, let me tell you about the 100 baby challenge I'm doing in the sims 3 I've told you about this before in my previous challenge, but I started a new game, because it went way too slow. And because I got the supernatural extension and my sim mama could be an elf. And have baby's with witches and werewolves. I stopped killing the dads and just write down their names to keep track of who had sired a child. Now my sims aren't sad all te time. Things were going really well: my sim had 16 babies with 11 dads. And then tragedy struck: One of the sim children could be aged up (they can when they have an "A" in school according to the 100 baby challenge rules). So I put the cake on the dining table, everybody gathered around and started cheering. The sim attempted to blow out the candles and everything caught fire... My oldest sims were trying to put out te fire and I tried to get the little ones to stay in the other room. Mom was holding the baby so I told her to go somewhere else too. But as sims do they kept coming back to watch the fire and mom caught fire and burned to death. While holding the baby.... So now the youngest daughter (who is an elf too!) is about to take over for her mom and continue making babies.
