Blood work is stressful! I hope yours continues to go well. Depends on which part of NYS and which year, but yeah. In general I think you're right. annyshay
So, I alluded to the fact that yesterday was crummy above and figure that it would be a good idea to get some of the details off my chest. The morning went great, and I made great progress with a bunch of my research stuff to the point that I thought I was done extracting data. I deleted one of the duplicate files because I thought I was done. Only to realize that somehow the columns were all off by one and I had ruined everything in a pattern that I couldn't fix. I couldn't get the old version back because I had deleted it. I basically have to start over completely with the data extraction. Gah!!! Despite the obvious frustration, I managed to pick myself up and just start right in on remaking the database. I think I got about a third of the way through by the end of the day. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only hitch in my getalong. I got a text message from my future boss that the other partner that I was going to have is going to leave the medical center before I even get there. This means that instead of dividing the work among three of us, there will only be two of us. This significantly changes the balance of work and makes me wonder if I should have stayed in the Twin Cities after all. Not to mention, I wonder if they knew this while recruiting me and just didn't say anything. I've been in so many departments that are poorly run and the opposite of transparent, that it's hard not to carry those expectations forwards to this new job. My future boss mentioned a few ways that they're working to get the situation fixed hopefully before I get there, but I am very anxious about the future now. I just feel like I can't trust anything they say now. I reached out to a bunch of friends for support after getting this news. Most said a few things and then wandered off to deal with their own lives. One completely ignored me. So on top of feeling anxious, I started feeling really lonely and like I wasn't a priority for anybody. Not a good combination of feelings. Luckily one of my long distance friends came on google chat and was willing to keep me company and talk through things despite the fact that he was at a D&D game. I really appreciate his kindness. I'm not sure yet how today will go. I don't have a lot of things planned, so it might turn into a lot of stewing over my various emotions. I want to let myself feel them, but I don't want to get morbidly caught up in them either. I suppose we'll just take it moment by moment and see how things go. 3 3 Quote Love as thou wilt. Elastigirl
Hugs, sorry It sounds like a rough day. To me it sounds like if the boss called and talked to you, then they most likely just learned about the person leaving. And the boss was proactive on working on solutions when you get thereIf the job turns out to be not what you first thought, then you have other options. You can look for another job, and since you had several offers, that shouldn't be too tough. When another job asks you why you didn't stick around for the first job, you can tell them that it wasn't the original plan that was presented to you 2 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment

annyshay
As soon as I emerged from the inside of the shrine, the old man came paragliding into view. "It seems you managed to get your hands on a Spirit Orb. Well done!" he greeted me jocularly. I asked how he knew, but he made some vague comments that didn't make any sense. I asked for the paraglider, but he went on a monologue about the Shiekah Slate and the ancient tribe that designed it before demanding the treasure from three more shrines! I tried to protest, but all he did was laugh. He did show me that the Sheikah Slate could transport me to places I'd already been, which took me back to the tower. He beat me up there somehow, but wouldn't tell me how. Anyway, he showed me how to find shrines by looking through my Sheikah Slate's scope and marking them on the map inside. I left him laughing at the top of the tower and traveled back to the shrine that I had just emerged from by way of the Sheikah Slate. Right outside the shrine, there were multiple things that I could move with my newly found power of magnesis. Curious, that. Anyway, there were a few treasure chests under the water that I pulled up to me. Inside were some rare jewels that will fetch a high price if I ever find a merchant to trade with. I caught some frogs and picked some plants that looked edible. Who knows what I'll find a use for later? At this point it was getting dark, so I decided to retrace my steps and head back towards the broken down temple. It seemed that some of the shrines were back that way. Some giant blue blob monsters jumped out at me, but I was able to defeat them with my trusty axe. They left behind smaller gelatinous blobs that I picked up and continued on my way. Behind the broken temple, I found a gate that passed into a snowy wilderness, but a few steps in it was clear that I couldn't go forward with the clothes that I had on unless I had something to warm me up. Right near the entrance to the snowy area I found some vegetables called spicy peppers. Surely that wasn't a coincidence. Scanning the immediate area, I saw a campfire and some of the bokoblins dancing around it. I snuck up on them and soon found myself surrounded by three of the beast, one of which had set it's simple wooden weapon on fire. I nearly died with a swing of that one's weapon, but I managed to bob and weave out of the way. I led the monsters near to the cliff and swung my great axe around. One of the monsters flew over the side, and suddenly I knew how I could beat the beasts without ruining my last good weapon. I hit them in succession right off of the cliff. I returned to the campfire and found that there was meat roasting over the open flame. Nearby was a cooking pot, so I brought some fire over there by way of a torch and lit a small fire underneath the cooking pot. Unsure, I threw a few spicy peppers into the pot. I was rewarded with a dish of Spicy Sauteed Peppers that promised to warm me up in the cold area that I had just left. I was hungry anyway, so I ate down the spicy sauteed peppers with some glee. A strange warmth radiated through my limbs, so I headed back to the snow-covered area only to find that it was no longer too cold for me. I walked into the cold area and decided to take a left as that seemed closest to the area marked on my Sheikah Slate. I hugged the mountain avoiding several more campfires that were occupied by nasty looking groups of bokoblins. Why win a fight when you can avoid one? On an outcropping of the mountain, I found a second shrine, this one called Owa Daim. The Sheikah Slate activated the shrine in the same way with the top turning orange and the gates opening to give me access. I rode the blue elevator down without any of the nasty surprise of last time. Inside the shrine was the similar blue dim lighting and general decor of the other shrine. This time I saw large empty spaces with giant balls rolling down small outcroppings of flooring as well as a large gear attached to a rotating chunk of flooring. My vision shifted to the left and I saw another of the strange stone and pedestal combinations. I approached and held my Sheikah Slate up to the pedestal. The same process occured with blue symbols coalescing into a blue drop of liquid that fell on my Sheikah Slate. This time the screen told me that I had acquired the power of Stasis which would stop objects in their tracks. I walked up to the large rotating gear and activated the power. This time the gear glowed a bright yellow color. I lined up the Sheikah Slate and selected activate. I was shocked to see that the gear and the floor connected to it stopped turning. As the gear flashed, I rushed across the floor to the other side. Next I headed to the large rolling ball with just the right idea. I froze the ball when it was at the bottom of it's rolling and about to fall off the ledge. This gave me time to run up the narrow passage way to safety before another large ball came rolling down. One last narrow passage way remained with a large ball sitting stationary in the pathway. I engaged Stasis and hit the ball with an iron hammer that I had found leaning against a wall. I released stasis and the ball went flying off into the ether. This left me a clear passage to walk to the glowing blue box at the end of the shrine. The same process occurred when I got to the shiny blue box. I touched the surface which began to glow and then fractured into thousands of shards. The statue inside spoke to me, granted me a spirit orb, and swiftly disappeared. I found myself transported to the beginning of the shrine once again. Right to the left of the shrine was a suspicious looking flat rock. I fired up stasis and found it glowing yellow just as I'd suspected. I engaged stasis, smacked the rock with my hammer, and released stasis only to watch the rock go flying through the air in a satisfying arc. A small treasure chest beneath the rock yielded another gem for my effort. My spicy sauteed peppers were still working, so I set my sights on the next shrine, which appeared to be further up the hill. 3 Quote Love as thou wilt. Link to comment

annyshay
So, I just had a discouraging session with my PT. It had been quite a few months since I was last able to get in for an appointment. I told her that I haven't really gotten any better, and we didn't come up with that many new ideas. She wants me to buy new shoes, which is a costly fix at a time where I just don't have much money, but I suppose that I will give it a try. She also thinks I may need to get x-rays of my foot because it's not getting better. She put me back down to some of the exercises that she prescribed the first time instead of the more dynamic stuff that we were moving towards. We're meeting again in two weeks. I'm feeling discouraged about the whole thing. I just want to be better. I want to be able to walk and hike and dance and all those good things instead of feeling like any activity makes things worse. Blah. I suppose it's off to the fancy shoe stores for me tomorrow to see if we can find something that helps. 1 5 Quote Love as thou wilt. Link to comment

Sometimes shoes, the right ones, can make all the difference! Especially in a job where you walk and stand a lot, which I think you do. I remember when I changed to Green Cross shoes when I was still working. I used to have a lot of foot ache and cramps, and it felt as if that changed, disappeared overnight! Something maybe with a lot of support but also cushioning. Also look at width of the shoes, and not too pointy. I really hope you come right. 2 Quote Mrs. Van's Latest Challenge Zechariah 4:6 "Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, saith the Lord." Link to comment
