WhiteGhost
When I was in High School, SNL had a running gag called Deep Thoughts By Jack Handey that was super popular. I used to have a lot of them memorized but had completely forgotten about them until literally just now as I was thinking what to do for this challenge. In that vein, I have created an acronym for each of my challenge items that spells out DEEP, to remind me that I need to remember to think Deep Thoughts. Just like Jack Handy. D. Doodle - I have dabbled my feet into the world of drawing and have collected enough underpants to kind of know what I should be doing. What I need now is practice. I have struggled in previous challenges because I was trying to come up with a complete picture each time I sat down to draw instead of just doodling. Unfortunately, my brain gets worried that I may not have time to finish it, so I never even get started. By changing it up and only doing some simple doodles, I am hoping that I will be able to break the mental block and actually get some practice in. Measurement Metric: Do some kind of doodling 5x per week E. Exercise - My shoulder is still off, but I think I can start getting back into the swing of things (but gently). For the first week I will stick to just light exercise and will go from there, but I am hoping that I will be able to get back up to full speed before too long. I still have a lot of things to add to my video library Measurement Metric: Workout (of some kind) 4x per week E. Eat - I have not been eating very healthy lately, mostly because I have kind of stopped caring about it. I got to a place where I am generally ok my body composition even though it is far from "ideal" (yay for a healthy body image) but I still think it is important to eat healthy foods in the right amount. I am not doing it to lose weight or reduce fat. I am doing it because my body deserves proper fuel. Also because I enjoy cooking Measurement Metric: Homemade meals 5x per week P. Play - I have finally signed up at the trampoline park and I have tons of free time. I need to take advantage of that and go play. In particular I want to be working towards back flips and back handsprings Measurement Metric: Go to the park 1x per week And with I will start with my all time favorite from high school 10 Quote HUNTER OF ALL THINGS SHINY Intro Thread Challenge Log Bodyweight Exercise Library Recipe Book Shuffle Club Level 2 Ninja Strength: 13 Intelligence: 14 Wisdom: 6 Dexterity:14 Constitution: 12 Charisma: 11 Link to comment

I didn't focus on anything in particular but was happy to see that I was still able to do kips just fine I filmed a bunch of beginner bodyweight exercises that @sarakingdom asked for and I hope to get those added to my bodyweight library this week. I was going to do it last night but our internet is out and I can't do that from my phone. Also, I did a thing but I can't prove it until our internet comes back on (pics or it didn't happen, amirite?). Until then you are just going to have to wait in suspense. I did a doodle, but I will get that up later as well. 5 Quote HUNTER OF ALL THINGS SHINY Intro Thread Challenge Log Bodyweight Exercise Library Recipe Book Shuffle Club Level 2 Ninja Strength: 13 Intelligence: 14 Wisdom: 6 Dexterity:14 Constitution: 12 Charisma: 11 Link to comment

(Aka looking at the doodles in my school notebooks that the teachers hated but were so much better than proper pieces ... sigh) I have lots of things I want to work on, but primarily faces. However, trying to draw a full face takes too long so for doodling I am just taking one fart of the face. Only having one thing to worry about keeps my brain from shutting down from the stress overload. 2 hours ago, fleaball said: You taught me a thing. I know all of about 3 words in Arabic and that is not one of them. It is possible that this word isn't even used, which would explain why you didn't ever learn it. Doodling - so far so good, I have done a doodle each day this week. For now I am working on eyes, and these are the two I have done so far this week Exercise - I didn't workout yesterday because it was Trampoline Tuesday Eat - I made some spaghetti with Ikea meatballs for lunch yesterday. It was yummy. Play - Trampoline Tuesday! I spent most of my time there working on back tucks and back handsprings. I took some reference videos so I can compare my progress going forward. For now I had to use the side of the trampoline to get a little extra bounce for the back tucks and a foam pad on top of the trampoline for the back handsprings. For the handsprings I could probably do them on a solid surface like the foam pads or grass, but for now I don't have the courage. 9 Quote HUNTER OF ALL THINGS SHINY Intro Thread Challenge Log Bodyweight Exercise Library Recipe Book Shuffle Club Level 2 Ninja Strength: 13 Intelligence: 14 Wisdom: 6 Dexterity:14 Constitution: 12 Charisma: 11 Link to comment

If I'd looked closer I might've guessed it. Google translate is telling me that one's a noun and the one I'm used to is an adjective (مرحب به "MAR-ha-ba"). But Arabic words all have a 3-letter root verb, which in this case is رحب (to welcome) so there was that. There are rules for how different related words form from the verbs but we started that the very last week of the last class I had so I don't remember much. This isn't really information anyone wanted but I'm in language nerd mode.

Too many other things with a higher priority Additional trivia: apparently Hebrew has a similar root system for words. Arabic is awesome and the alphabet is super fucking easy but I have the same reason for not pursuing it further. Each country has its own dialect (mostly mutually intelligible but with some hiccups) and the kind you learn in classes is the more formal proper version. I've heard it likened to us speaking Shakespearean English to each other. So it's almost like if you're going to learn it you need to pick a country first so you can focus on one dialect in order to be able to communicate. And honestly as much as I would love to go back, I don't think there are any trips to the Middle East in my future until the entire region chills the fuck out.

Although to be fair, Korean looks complicated but is also super easy. Dagnamit, Flea! Now you have me thinking that I could at least learn the alphabet Do it! It won't actually help you pronounce words though, because the short vowels aren't typically written. eg my tattoo نجاح is pronounced "najah" but is written njah - second A is a long vowel, but the first A is something you'd essentially guess once you learn the root form rules I mentioned earlier. It looks complicated because there's a lot of dots and shit, but once you know what they are it makes sense pretty easily. There are 29 letters. Some of them are the same shape no matter where they are in the word (eg the comma-looking shape in رحب is R and always looks like that) but some others change depending on where they are in the word - first, last, or somewhere in the middle. And some are super similar to each other, like the only difference might be where a dot is located. نجاح If you look at this again, the standalone shape on the far left is one of two H sounds, and that form is the one it takes in the alphabet. The J sound is the wave-looking thing with the dot under it, and its alphabet form is exactly the same as the H but with the dot inside: ج Dooooo iiiiiiiit~ 5 Quote Level 69 Battle Kitten Battle Log | Current Challenge MyFitnessPal | Fitbit | Duolingo Ici je vis la vie que j'ai choisie Je suis partie pour reconstruire ma vie C'est dit, c'est ainsi Link to comment
