RES Posted April 15, 2019 Report Share Posted April 15, 2019 Recap of the last couple challenges Quote It's no secret I'm not a patient person. One of the hardest things for me to deal with is I didn't get this way overnight, and I can't fix it overnight. Fixing it takes consistency, building habits that will last, not just get me to the goal and then going back to what I was doing and losing all progress made. I've learned a whole lot about what DOESN'T work for me lately, I've also learned that I can't abuse my body the way I used to when I was younger, recovery takes too damn long now! I've been following a couple podcasts, one is Not Your Average Runner, the other is Phit-N-Phat, NYAR talks about running at any size and age, realistically. She also stresses the importance of not quitting on yourself, habit rather than motivation, and other types of good stuff. Phit-N-Phat is a woman that lost over 100 lbs and kept it off 24 hours at a time. She's where I stole the line "I didn't die or get pregnant" from. She talks about being realistic, making a 24 hour plan and sticking to it, (if you're going to have 12 hershey's kisses for breakfast, put it on your plan! LOL) and a lot of don't follow a diet unless that's how you're really going to eat...make it sustainable. If you want to eat Paleo or Keto for the rest of your life, fine, but don't do it to get to a goal weight and then go back. Pay attention to how you feel, are you really hungry? Are you bored? Are you eating your feelings? A lot of other good stuff from her too but I'd be here all day and I do have to work at some point The goals... Lose 50 lbs (total) by October, 31st, that's 5 lbs a month January - Done! February - Done! March - Done! April - in progress The Plan.... 1. Three interval runs, and one strength training a week. Look for someplace to make one of these runs outside. 2. Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 3. Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. Yes, baseball season is in full swing, I'm trying to not disappear here but mid last challenge my marriage fell apart, granted, it was only hanging on by a thread to begin with... Things are really up in the air with that right now, we're still living together, we are trying to be civil and be friends...it's tough, not gonna lie, not looking for sympathy it just is what it is. My own experience with getting out of a really long relationship was that even if you know it's coming and it's for the right reasons, you are still going through a loss. Everyone (the forums will only let me quote so many in one post so consider this all inclusive) Thank you...from the bottom of my cold, black, heart... We've had a few conversations this week, our saving grace has likely been it was a Mon-Fri homestand so I haven't been home much. I've broken down what we need to pay splitting it according to our income for if she stays here, or if she gets the job in Tampa (oh yes, the job she's wanted for years just opened up, she applied for it). We've started the process of splitting the finances, updated direct deposits, etc...We've fought, a lot, she brought up a conversation from almost four years ago (right after we were married) that she said upset her, I've brought up the multiple conversations we've had over the very topic that brought all this to a head, and pretty much demanded to know how long was I supposed to put up with it...we still love each other, but we know it's not going to work out like it is currently...she doesn't want to change and I don't trust that any changes she makes will be lasting because it's happened before...I'm also enabling her to not do better, which is not the first I've heard I do that...anyways... So that's where it stands now...it's better than it was last week, which is good because orange is not my color So, I did a thing last weekend...for those that don't have me on Facebook or Instagram And one taken at work Got paid a very nice complement when I was talking about my "big" birthday coming in October, and a guy said "No way are you going to be 40" LOL, did my ego good when I told him nope, was actually going to be 50! Oh yes, so challenge goals (one of which is to find and stalk follow all you amazing people!) 1. Three interval runs, and one strength training a week. Look for someplace to make one of these runs outside. Amazed to say I got 2 in! Even with the games. Think I've found somewhere to run outside but I'll check that out my next off weekend 2. Done every day except 1, my crew is amazing, and know when I need giant chocolate chip cookies covered in ice cream...my co-workers are also awesome with cheesecake bites...I did not stop when full, I regret nothing! 3. But you need to get this book asap;Useful Belief by Chris Helder. The concepts in this book helped me deal with my own marriage breakdown. Basically, you just next to focus on the next most useful thing that you need to do.Whether that is letting out the emotions within, sorting out financial issues, getting to work on time, or dying your hair. Just do what is most useful for you to do next. I know this can't be easy, but I (and everyone else following along) are in your corner and cheering for you! And that red hair is rad. I love it! You look amazing -- and there's no way that you're approaching 50. I don't believe it.
