Also 40% of babies are still born at home. It was a bit of a shock for me finding out that that's not how the rest of the world does it and that you're considered pretty hard core for choosing to give birth at home in any other 'western' country. Very interesting. Iran is also very hospital-based when it comes to birth. At home it would be seen as a bit rural or as indicating a low economic status maybe (that would be a developing country running thread I suppose). In Scotland, it's possible if you want to, meaning probably not the default. I had a friend who wanted a water birth at home and I remember her telling me about the prep with her mid-wife (but it did not work out that way in the end). In France, I'm not sure I'll have to read about it. It's great you're specialising in pregnant or post-pregnancy training. It's still lacking a lot from what I heard from friends. (if labour starts before that they have to go to the hospital anyway). And the bed needs to be made higher so as not to strain the midwifes/kraamzorgs backs. 14 hours ago, @mu said: Very interesting. You'd boast about making ends meet or finding a really good sale. And differences between poor and rich aren't very large at all anyway. There was an interesting discussion on a dutch Facebook group I'm in- on why dutch people score really well on obesity rates and the point was made that it's probably because poor people in the Netherlands are.. not so poor. KB Girl
Friday was my planned rest day. Saturday I had intended to do a jerk training but my legs were still so sore from Thursday and I hadn't slept very much.. so I did some rowing and then figured I'd at least do some snatches.. so I tried a long set with 12kg, which I should be able to do 8 minutes easy, but after 2:15 I already had to switch hands.. then I intended to make up the difference on my right arm, but again after 2:15 I was just done. Sunday my legs were still sore, but on a more manageable level this time. So I worked on jerks and longcycle, but kept the volume a little bit more manageable than maybe I should've. I did 1:00 jerk, then without rest into 1:00 longcycle. First with 2x12kg, a little rest, then 2x14kg and last set with 2x16kg. After that I did some barbell (power) snatch work. Mostly focused on technique and then a couple of reps at 30kg. Finished with rowing. This week I rowed 14000 meters, which is double from last week. I'm pleased with that and I hope I can match it next week. Some photo/video spam behind the spoiler; overview for this week; So no yellows or reds for training this week, but I had really hoped to get all greens.. maybe next week! Eating veggies was a little harder this week, easter wasn't easy and I have to figure something out for work, otherwise it'll be red or yellow every tuesday/thursday/saturday. Good moment; dutch pancakes \o/ Also todays KB class was fun; that's all 3 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; 591/5000km & reading to my kids 48/365 days (updated march-22) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment

KB Girl
Monday I had very little time at the gym, but managed to row 2k and some snatches after (2:15 left arm, 1:00 rest, 2:15 right arm, with 16kg).. the snatches are making me sad... I might hit a PR at worlds but I had really hoped with focusing on it so much that it would've gotten more better. Anyway, after work I spend a nice afternoon with Emma. We went into town and when a lady gave her a sticker she said "oh thank you very much! I'm so happy with it! so nice of you!" Not even two and a half years old. Yes I'm more than a little proud And glad that my lazy parenting seems to be working, because I've never once told her she should say thanks. Tuesday was a very productive day, got lots of work done. Also finished doing our (and the gyms) taxes. I'm more than a little pleased with myself for finishing that before the first deadline, in previous years I've always had to ask for an extension Training was great! First a couple of women came in intending to do solo strength training and we ended up doing deadlift waves with 4 of us. Deadlift waves are fun, it's like this: 5x50kg, 3x60kg, 1x70kg, rest, 5x60kg, 3x70kg, 1x80kg, rest, 5x70kg, 3x80kg, 1x90kg. My last wave ended at my current max (100kg) and I unfortunately failed that single. But I did make the triple at 90. So I'm pleased. Also worked on pull-ups. Then one of my team mates came in and we did jerks together. (2:30 with 2x14kg, 1:00 rest, 2:00 with 2x16kg, 1:00 rest, 1:30 with 2x18kg, 1:00 rest, 1:00 with 2x20kg, 1:00 rest, 0:30 with 2x22kg). It was good. I did some longcycle practice after and then did my rowing. My teammate put it on insta because we were (unintentionally) synchronised. 4 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; 591/5000km & reading to my kids 48/365 days (updated march-22) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment

Thanks, that is what I think too.. it's why I really dislike people saying 'good job' to little kids.. you ask them to throw something in the trash can and they do it and people go 'good job'.. it's just such a wasted opportunity, if people would just say thank you, like you would to any non-tiny person... Ahum, yes, huge pet peeve since I'm a parent. And huge cause for arguments between me and my sister in law. She says Emma won't have a good self esteem because I never tell her good job. Pfft. Anyway.. wednesday - despite being overall very lovely a 2 year old can also really test your patience. We went for a (2-3 hour) hike in the afternoon like we always do- normally Emma goes to sleep but this time she didn't because we brought a friend and her 11 year old son and it was just tooo interesting. So the evening was REALLY testing my patience. Tired toddler wanted to cuddle and read books and I needed to make some dinner.. so in frustration she grabbed her box of blocks, dumped them all out on the floor and proceeded to kick them around the house. After I got her to stop she of course refused to help me clean up the mess.. and so on.. soo.. yea, just to provide some contrast to the loveliness I went to bed early (which is good) but I've been a bit sloppy with the habits I've been trying to build, so laundry has been piling up and general untidiness was increasing and this day I even forgot to feed the dog.. which I hadn't forgotten for months.. damnit. Thursday was a busy and good day at work. Also had my 2 hour training session with my baby sister, which was very nice. I should have lifted some bells though, but really didn't feel like it. We did do barbell snatches, technique work up to 30kg, then barbell cleans up to 55kg. Then we did backsquats in waves, because that was fun with the deadlifts I figured why not do it with squats too. Again missed the final single at 70kg, but got a lot of good reps in anyway. Finished with some dips, pull-ups and 250 meter rowing intervals. Got home at around 21:30 and had a crummy feeling boyfriend, so we talked and just hung out together. Didn't go to bed until after midnight, but I did get to sleep in. Friday started late, cleaned the toilets plus bathroom because that was overdue. Then went to take Emma and my sisters' baby to the park because my sister needed a childless moment to not go crazy Did some work in the evening and now I'm doing this dear diary thing over here x) Not feeling so great, probably just tired but also in this 'I wish I had done better over the past few days' mood. Ugh. I'll probably be okay in the morning though. And I'll feed the dog before I go to bed this time, promise. No need to worry x) 2 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; 591/5000km & reading to my kids 48/365 days (updated march-22) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment

KB Girl
Meh, I woke up sick on Saturday. And today (Sunday) it's worse instead of better. Just an impressive cold, but still very annoying and terrible timing. only 2 training weeks left 'till worlds. I used to not mind being sick very much at all- it was a good excuse to spend a day or two with my favorite activities; reading and sleeping. But now it gets in the way of training AND I don't even get to spend all day in bed because there is a toddler to take care of. At least Emma is having fun playing nurse.
