RedStone Frees Her Willy

Okay, I never actually SAW Free Willy, but I definitely need to come up for air.

2019 so far has been a bit of a whirlwind, and it's been most useful for me to keep my nose to the grindstone and work through it. Most notably, I've just recently passed my finals for Health Coaching and am officially certified :D

Additionally, Mr Red and I are in the process of buying a house and are scheduled to close in the next few weeks. This is possibly the most stressful of the things that have come up. Now that we're clear to close I feel like I can finally breath, but it was a tough few months making it all happen.

In general, throughout this process of home stuff and last semester and designing future plans for home and business, I've had some trouble staying on a schedule and was succumbing to overwhelm often. Things are much better now, but only for now. Soon there will be renovations, packing and moving, and I'm starting my next round of study tonight, a specialty in spinal rehab exercise.

The pros are - other than I really nasty spring virus - I'm in good health and all the parts seem to be behaving. I still get a deposit of scar tissue in my lower back where I injured it a few years ago deadlifting, but stretching and SMFR helps. Shoulders prefer DB pressing to BB, and I focus on unilateral leg work to help with balance.

So lets get to it!!

Zero week tasks will define challenge goals.

-define timeline requirements discussed last week with business coach for work stuff

-connect with lawyer and define timeline for house tasks

-create bujo tracker with goals

Good too be here with ya'll!

Congratulations and prepare for a mountain of paperwork. I've never signed my name so many times in one day as when I bought a house. Oh, the wrist cramps. Couldn't free my willy for a week afterward.

Thanks! And no joke. I went through that when we bought my parents a retirement condo. 2 Hours of sliding around a dragon's hoard worth of papers

Even at the time, when I was the target audience, I wished I hadn't.

I also didn't see Titanic at the time or ever after, a feat I am VERY proud of.

Always a pleasure to be reminded that there are several of us in the world. Never seen it either, and hopefully never will... for no other reason than it's be most predictable plot ever, and I already know how it ends.

Spoiler

The ship sinks and people die.

Hold up!!! How have you never seen free willy - I saw it a bunch as a kid and my dream when I was like 8 was to somehow befriend a whale!

Otherwise, glad you’re back and coming up for air. It’s a hectic season in life for you, but you’re smart and tough and you’ll pull through.

I am a proud and vocal member of that club. I refuse to watch on principle at this point. This and The Notebook. Won't do it. Won't. Do it.

Ah yes, that one as well. Absolutely refuse the Notebook, for the same reasons. It's a matter of principle by now.

Congrats on passing those tests and getting certified, and also on buying a home! YAY!

Thanks! It feels like a great move, a good way to round out the physical coaching with the other facets of health and wellness. My particular program focused on behavior change :D

When it came out I was super busy developing a too-cool-for-school teenage rebel image. There was some ironic, substance influenced Sesame Street being watched, but that's about it.

Thanks boo! I think I'm in a place where I will benefit from having a challenge here... we will see!

Mr Red was so excited when it came out in the theaters, he went by himself on opening day expecting a grand disaster action flick. In his own words it left him: "Frustrated, disillusioned and bored by the end. I'm glad Leo died."

My priest jokes include ministers and rabbis.

I wish I had never seen The Notebook. Jordin Nicolas Sparks just likes to glorify toxic people.

I haven't seen the notebook either. I have, however, seen Solo at least 12 times since the first time I saw it last month. I feel good about my life choices

I connected with my lawyer and realtor yesterday and the house stuff will likely be inconclusive until next week. (TLDR Deets in spoiler) The lawyer told us to keep an eye on certain dates and prepare to ask for an extension if needed. SOOOOO airing on the safe side, I think we are going to try to stay in our rental through June instead of May to have more time to do the renovations without freaking out.

I'm trying to decide how much the moving delay really effects my working schedule. I'm finding I have the free time to do the work things now since we haven't really started packing or doing the renovations yet. Additionally, part of my actually implementing my program relies on the new gym in the new house, which... in theory... I could set up and use before the final move but it still has to be after closing. It will be in the basement and unaffected by the renovations, so I guess it can be used as soon as I have ownership of the space?

I think for the sake of this challenge, I'll have to draw up the basics of day to day and week to week tasks, and start planning for packing and renovation time as well. I'm undecided how that's going to look exactly for a challenge but I do have some steady basics I can include - writing and training. Maybe for the other things I'll go week to week as the situation dictates! It's only day 2 of ZEROWEEK, plenty of time to hash it out.

Spoiler

So the hold up with the house is a small boundary issue from the survey, showing that 2 back neighbors are encroaching on the property. From our POV, the lot is a simple rectangle with fencing all around - behind a row of trees. I don't need the 2 feet that the neighbor's shed is on, OUTSIDE the fence. I don't need them to move the shed, or the other neighbor to break down 6 feet of their fencing and move their children's play set. I also don't need to pay the taxes on the strip either, or have this same issue come up in a future sale.

All we want is a new boundary line to be drawn so the neighbors have their own property legally, and we don't have problems in the future with that. We're going to concede the land to them. The hold up, apparently, is that the seller's attorney is an asshole that made her, a sweet little old lady with a sick husband that has to move away ASAP, cry. My realtor says he's being slow and mean and dragging his feet and isn't it typical, he's a litigator and need she say more? Yes because I don't know why that would be a problem, but I guess using a real estate lawyer is more straight forward. And it sucks because she's the one in breech of contract and also the one that needs to move right away and we feel awful for her. No one wants this to fall through and I hope she gets a new lawyer ASAP.

I don't know much about lawyering, but I wonder if a complaint to the state bar about mean attorney might be in order?

Seriously. I hope the rest of her team is steering her far away from that guy!

Ooo, you have it on both sides! We pitched in for my parent's condo but I wasn't really involved with the process so you know way more than I do! But yeah, everyone on our team is amazing, our realtor and lawyers are both <3 <3 <3 Having the right people makes things so much better, less stressful and go more smoothly.

We're going to rip up the mauve carpet and put down hardwood floors - that's the big job and we're planning on doing it ourselves. I'm going to have a painter do the walls (dark sage to a soft white) and we're going to have a gas line ran and replace the stove and fridge. Something is going to happen one way or another with the washer dryer too because we own the ones we have in the rental and they're way newer than the ones in the house we're buying, but I have to take a look and see what the situation is there!

So you've already found the place you're buying? :D
