I'm hiring a company to do all the moving AND packing for me for an upcoming move and I'm kinda excited to not be bothered with doing all the packing this time. 5 hours ago, JessFit said: Yes, he is getting what I assume will be a 4 figure check, but I'm buying a cheap (compared to the local market) property and he has been incredible in so many ways (including face timing my mother, and that is a lot to ask). I wasn't sure if a gift was standard, in which case something like cookies and a card would be meh, or if it would be an unexpected perk. I've never been a home owner before so I've got oodles of questions. Ahh gotcha - I think his standards/expectations, if any, for a gift would be lower for a first-time homeowner who's buying an inexpensive property. I recognize this is barely comparable, but when my dance students give me gifts I'm more wowed by the amount of effort put in than any sort of perceived monetary value of the gift itself, if that makes sense. JessFit
Went home to Chicago this weekend, mostly stuck-ish to my cut but when visiting grandma it is required that you eat something or she will act like you just ran over her dog. It is also obligatory to accept the $10 bill shoved in to your hand as you leave and call when you get home even though your house is only 2 miles away. Also, difficult to stick to your cut when your 4 year old niece insists on sharing her Doritos with you and keeps shoving them in your mouth... hella extra hard because Doritos are my kryptonite and she knows I love them and is so excited to share them with me. Probably the least on track I've been in the 60 days I've done this cut, but it wasn't too terribly off. I managed to avoid the White Castles and pizza. That is really hard, because Chicago pizza is legendary and I can't get the same thing here in Iowa. Didn't get in much work toward my goals, but it was cool to see people I haven't seen since I started my cut. A couple people mentioned my weight loss and were very encouraging. I also saw a video of myself in my civil war uniform and WOW are my pants huge. They're practically falling off of me. Historically speaking, uniforms didn't fit terribly well anyway, and many soldiers lost a bunch of weight after joining thanks to the terrible food and the copious marching, but I'm going to have to invest in new pants soon. Perk to this cut, I'm now the same weight as an average civil war soldier. Also, I HIT MY GOAL WEIGHT! I'm really, really struggling not to snack rn. I've got hormones going on (and they've been wonky as heck this month), I've got 9 days left of this cut and I'm sick of it, and I've blown past 2 weight loss goals. Motivation is ebbing. I'm sticking with it because I'm stubborn and I can survive another 9 days. I don't want to cheat myself out of the full cut, but I'm also struggling with not eating all the snacks. This ends NEXT WEEK! And I can survive this, I'm sure I can... bleh. I did not make my usual Sunday gym time, but I'm putting it down as a lifting session anyway. I spent 2 days shoving around and firing a 1.5 ton cannon, which is totally a full body workout. Goals: 1: Lifting sessions 8/12 2: Pull-up/Chin-up work 12/15 3: Greater than 95% compliance with the Renaissance Periodization diet. 97.78%/95% Weight: 148.0/148 4: Recovery and mobility. 8/15 5: Skincare 12/20 6: Projects half done 3/5 5 Quote Warrior, Ravenclaw, book lover, history nerd, Red Sonja wannabe Current Challenge Battle Log Link to comment
Rookie
FOUND YOU. I see you left us lol You are making us proud. I figure there are certain moments where you can afford to be strict with your cut, but then theres moments you don't necessarily want to miss out on. Sharing doritos with your niece and sweet and eating food your grandma made you. <3 Those moments don't last forever and they definitely aren't available forever. So if you feel any guilt Don't! You didn't use it as an excuse to indulge and that is important. ALSO CONGRATS GIRL! Goal weight WOOOOOOOOO I am so excited for you! 1 Quote {Chase the wind and touch the sky; I will fly} Link to comment

Hence why I'm not real thrilled with my weekend, but I've been super duper strict about compliance for almost all of the 61 days of this cut, so I'm also not hella stressed. I'm at almost 98% compliance, that is a lot of hard work that I've put in to it, I can allow my niece to share a couple of Doritos with me. 23 minutes ago, Harriet said: I'll be interested to see how you approach eating after the cut. Awesome, firing a cannon sounds like fun! I'm actually excited to get on maintenance. I don't really have a plan other than to keep following the app, because the people that created it are smart and have lots of advanced degrees in this stuff. It will be nice to work more calories in, and my carbs have gotten cut a bit near the end here so I'll enjoy those coming back when I reverse diet. I admit, I'm seriously looking forward to one epic cheat meal, but I'm so happy with what I've achieved and I feel (mentally and physically) so much better than I did 9 weeks ago, that the thought of going back to the person I was at the beginning of this is scary. That being said, the early episodes of the Screw the Scale podcast have helped me prepare for what to expect when I end the cut and how to adjust to maintenance. Firing a cannon is a blast! Pure stubbornness to see out the next 9 days exists. 2. When you finish a cut you gain a bit, always. My carbs have been cut in the last 2 weeks on this program. Upping my carbs will mean a bit more water retention and eating more will mean more food in my digestive tract which will all mean that I'll sit a couple lbs heavier. If I see out the cut and lose a bit more over the next 9 days, then this goal weight will actually be maintenance weight as opposed to end of cut weight. JessFit
Hi, my name is Jessica, my hormones got the better of me last night and I snapped and ate ALL the things. Maybe not ALL of them, but enough chocolate that I felt sick. Stupid period. In the grand scheme of PMS binging, I would say it was a really small binge. From the perspective of being on a cut, it felt giant. So much chocolate. I'm trying not to beat myself up. 3 days of not perfect eating happened, today I will pop back on to track and see out the remaining 8 days of this cut with much better accuracy. JessFit
Off topic for fitness, but relevant to previous convos... my coworker had to bring her daughter to a huge conference this past weekend. She is a single mom with no family in the area, so the 4 year old goes with her everywhere. Her daughter is the child of the mermaid dress, cowboy boots, and bat wing hoodie combo. The mermaid dress was worn for most of this conference... I think it is adorable! I work for a stem cell and gene therapy research lab, and this was a huge international research conference and everyone there was super in to her mermaid dress! I'm super serious, mermaid dresses are now the Little Black Dress of the under 10 year old crowd and I'm loving it. 4 Quote Warrior, Ravenclaw, book lover, history nerd, Red Sonja wannabe Current Challenge Battle Log Link to comment

JessFit
I saw the scale move up today, for the first time in a long time. It wasn't supposed to. I've been snacking on not-so-good things the past 5 days. I can make excuses, such as that my period has been really unusually hard on me this month. It doesn't matter, what matters is that I went from 147.7 yesterday to 148.4 today. I'm very, very mad at myself. I know I've been craving all the things, I know my hormones have been a mess, I know that my period has been much harder than normal, and I also know that I put each piece of food in my own mouth. I've made great progress on this cut, I have 6 days left, and I'm screwing myself and my mind up. I've also just been feeling generally bleh and not done much that was productive in the last week. I'm not sure if this is as hard as it is because I've lost so much weight and therefore my body is in panic mode. I'm not sure if this is hard because of the stress of condo buying. I am sure that tonight I'm going to lift tonight. It is a MUST for me right now, I need to do something that puts me in control and I skipped lifting on Tuesday. I'm not really sure what to tell you because I have (at times rapidly, then gradually) been regaining almost all the approx 29lb I lost a couple of years back, and I felt completely powerless to prevent this or to re-summon the discipline I had during the year of dieting. Gone, all gone, replaced by a fierce desire not to be parted from my food. So I have no practical advice, though I wonder if going straight to your maintenance plan might not be sensible in order to prevent panicky ravenous rebound eating? But anyway, I am sending good vibes. You are fine. Whatever happens next is okay. All shall be well. For me, with as close as I am, I would feel like a failure to end here, especially since I've been so awful the past few days. The remaining 6 days of this cut will be days of redemption because I refuse to quit and I refuse to end on a low note. This should be easier to achieve because the period from hell is ending soon. Bodies function better at a healthy weight, but we haven't quite evolved enough to for our bodies to get that fat no longer equals survival. We have central heating, down coats, and grocery stores, so fat isn't the life saving thing it used to be. Still, my body is probably pretty done with my diet nonsense and my reproductive system is most likely calling "mayday" after this weight loss. I'm healthier now than I was before, but 2019 bodies don't really seem to do what is best for themselves where fat is concerned. Hopefully switching to maintenance in the coming week will mean that next month is less hellish. 1 Quote Warrior, Ravenclaw, book lover, history nerd, Red Sonja wannabe Current Challenge Battle Log Link to comment
