I got home super early yesterday, and then took a 2 hour nap. For a late dinner, my wife and I went out to a nice ramen place near our house. We are celebrating that the place I have been consulting at has decided to hire me on long-term! I'm pretty pleased and excited about this. I'm tired of the contractor's life, always bouncing from one company to another after 6 months to a year. And I should be getting a pay raise with this job, so that's nice, too. I like the team I'm working with here, and it's a reasonable commute... and it's a global company, so I have tentative plans to eventually move countries while keeping my job. Here's hoping that works out. That's all great stuff, including the ramen, the raise and the stability. What country you planning on migrating to? Jett
Thanks, everyone! 3 hours ago, Harriet said: That's all great stuff, including the ramen, the raise and the stability. What country you planning on migrating to? The place I want to eventually get to is Norway or Sweden, but the realistic mid-term goal is the Netherlands. That's because the company I work for has a fairly large IT office in Rotterdam, so I don't think it should be too difficult to convince them to let me change offices. I need to focus on my communication skills and creating trust with my team here first, so that once I'm an ocean away, they won't be worried about whether I'm going to keep up my projects and such. So it's probably at least 1-2 years away. 1 Quote Current Challenge | Daily Log Link to comment

It's really just that I allow myself to stay up later on weekends. But a savvy observer will see that even though I'm okay with "later", my actual bedtime is really "late". So it's probably a matter of self-discipline, and not letting weekends run away with me. On 5/7/2019 at 6:54 AM, JessFit said: I love the colors you use for tracking. It makes it so easy to see. Scaly Freak
Curious about something... why not use the blue light blocking glasses? Do they not work, or are you replacing them with an alternative way to start winding the brain down? 1 Quote The Great Reading Thread of 2023 “I've always believed that failure is non-existent. I'm supposed to use them when looking at a screen after 8pm, to avoid blue wavelengths of light. If I'm just reading or something then it's fine, but I've been mostly watching youtube videos until almost 10pm without them. So... it's an area that could see some improvement, to be sure. Maybe I should put them by the media computer instead of by my bed. Quote Current Challenge | Daily Log Link to comment

Do you just need more sleep than you're getting? Actually 9 hours sounds like enough, if it were good quality. Hmmm. Jett
I definitely need more sleep. I'm probably getting to sleep around 1-2 AM right now, and trying to wake up at 7:30. But I've mostly been sleeping in until almost 9. So I guess that means I need a minimum of 7.5 hours, which sounds about right.... 1 Quote Current Challenge | Daily Log Link to comment
