woodandbronze: The Homecoming, Part 2

Hi and Happy Easter, everyone!
I went back to the gym last week after a 2-month break from rowing and learned a couple of things: my endurance is such that I was easily able to row 5000m, but I cannot do that on consecutive days - blistered hands instead of callouses :(

 

Despite that (now that my hands are healed), I intend to 1) get back to work on my Epic Quest of losing 8.2 kg by the end of the year, 2) lose body fat, 3) live within my revised budget (I’ve been working on a financial plan for my twilight years), and 4) continue learning the ukulele.

 

My SMART goals are:

    •    Eat mindfully (haven’t been good about this lately)
    •    Continue training for the Level 2 Boss Battle, and do 20’ of cardio/day, preferably rowing
    •    Continue meal-planning to cut food costs (started doing this late last year and it’s a game-changer) and scaling back transportation and discretionary spending
    •    Set a goal for the next round of ukulele lessons which start next week

Today's stats:

Diet - ate mindfully, i.e. all meals at the dining table

Exercise - 20 min. cardio (rowed 3700+ metres); bodyweight training

Budget - $0 spent

Ukulele - practiced 30 min.

Today's stats:

Diet - ate mindfully at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm also trying out the “Know Your Next Meal” Challenge outlined in Steve Kamb's recent blog post. Honestly, I never thought of doing a meal plan in that way :stupid: LOL

Exercise - walked outdoors 0:23:07

Budget - veggie basket day - within the budget

Ukulele - practiced 30 min.

Today's stats:

Diet - ate all meals seated at the table, but lunch & dinner were not very mindful. Tomorrow's another day...

Exercise - rowed 20 min. (3600+ metres); bodyweight training

Budget - had errands to do - stayed within the budget

Ukulele - practiced 30 min. and did some reading & thinking about what I want to work on when lessons resume next week

Wow! I hope no one gets this bug that's going around in my neck of the woods. It's tenacious... Here's a summary of my progress for this challenge:

 

Diet - ate mindfully 50-75% of the time

Exercise - 0% - no energy for that

Spending - 50-75% compliance

Ukulele - I had to cancel lessons for now and hope to start back at the end of the month, but I made myself practice 15 min./day

Diet - ate mindfully... Not! I was too distracted by a few problems that cropped up today

Exercise - 4.6 km walk (untimed)

Spending - kept within budget

Ukulele - practiced 15 min.
