Starting the challenge on spring break so I thought I'd work it into the theme.  Time to clean things up!

 

Each week I'll have a "cleaning goal" but also work on rebuilding good habits by focusing on:

 

1.  no beers at home (except on Sunday - GOT!!). 

 

I've been lazy, having beers at home while I'm folding laundry?  I can do better than that!  It'll be good to get out and be social with my people!!  The GOT exception is for me and the husband unit because we do watch it together.

 

2.  daily exercise

 

I have an add-on membership to the pro club courtesy of my son so it's important to me that he sees me use it.  I gotta show up!  the struggle for me is motivation because I'm not loving the traditional gym environment after years at a crossfit gym.   

 

3.  headspace

 

my idea here under construction, but big picture:  I need to stop stressing.  meditation apps. maybe yoga?  still thinking...

Week One

Day One

 

Cleaning Goal:  Clean the house

Good Habits:

  1. no beers at home
    • I have placed post it notes near beer in the garage to remind me of my goals :)
  2. exercise
    • M/F - strength on machines
    • Sun/T/TH - C25K treadmill
    • W - machine cardio (low key/like an off day)
    • Sat - hydro fitness
  3. headspace
    • got the app on my phone!

Starting weight:  143lbs

W1D3 - Hump Day/half way through the week report

 

the good:  I've been doing headspace daily and I've been cleaning the house (and my cars).  I've done one goodwill run already this week!

the bad:  haven't been to the gym this week (too busy cleaning!)  not inactive though - I have been walking in the morning after drop off (I'm on spring break, my boys are not)

the ugly:  *sighs* beers at home.  it's happened.  in my defense I was kinda being social.  I was helping my son with a writing assignment.  we watched a movie (Secret Window) and then he had to write about it for a psych class.  he's a very reluctant writer...

From a progress point of view, are there being fewer beers at home, at least?

yes.  it's fewer beers.  2 both nights.  but drinking at home two nights out of the three so far, I'm just not starting off on the right foot!

 

the first night as we watched the movie (two times in a row, for science!!) I felt it was kinda social because we were talking.  but the next night when I busted out the beer it was just me sitting in front of a pile of notes. a computer, and my reluctant writer.  not social AT ALL.

the most that came out of him was a combination of frustrated signs, snorts of derision, and things like "oh well, whatever, nevermind" and lots of "MOM, I'M NOT WRITING (insert my brilliant idea here)"...

How the heck am I this far into the challenge and I'm not really into it yet?    Argh...

 

Week 1 recap:  The only thing I was focused on was my cleaning goal.  I was on spring break but my boys weren't so I had the whole house to myself.  I totally hyper focused on cleaning to the detriment of all my other goals.

Week 2 Goals:

 

1.  Cleaning  Goal:  Clean up my diet

My school provides lunch to teachers.  I went in and cleaned up my order to remove the hot lunches (that come with dessert) and replace with yummy, yummy salads!

 

2.  Good Habits

I mean, at least your house is nice and clean now? Sometimes, I find that makes it easier to focus on other things! Yay for salads. :)

I need to stockpile my classroom with nut packs and protein bars.  Maybe put some protein drinks/cheese sticks in the fridge. Mostly my plan is to NOT put cokes in my fridge AND avoid staff room treats.  

 

I do ok on the weekends.

W3 Check In

  1. clean up snacks
    • bought nuts for classroom
    • bought yogurt and protein bars/drinks for home
    • had my 1x coke for the week yesterday after MAPs testing (such a long day!)
  2. daily exercise
    • been to gym twice this week.  other days I've walked.  it's so nice out, hard to stay inside.
  3. no beers at home
    • going better.  none this week but am planning for a beer this Sunday during GOT.
  4. headspace
    • hasn't happened since that first session.  I think I'm going to work it into the final week's "cleaning" goal.  I seem to do really well with that one.
