CM basks in the midnight sun

Closing is 6/28 so a week after this challenge cycle ends. We’ve packed up 5 boxes so far, mostly books.

I have a 5K on 6/1 and a tough mudder on 6/29

My dad is still in hospital and we’re trying to figure out which insurance he qualifies for so that he can move to a rehab facility. if none, then how to make him qualified.

Sleep is going to be important so I’m going to try and instill a midnight curfew for the weekends. except for Iceland of course which is going to be sunny basically ALL THE TIME. oh yeah I’m going to Iceland during this challenge!

Challenge goals:

  • one full body workout per week: weights at the gym or tough mudder circuit
  • one 30 min running sesh per week
  • bring weekly sleep average to 7h40m. TV off by 8pm for Mon-Thurs. Fri -Sun in bed by midnight.
  • food – 3 weekend vegetables
  • track yoga – 30mins/week; include bridges and clamshells once/week.
  • Obtain dad’s health insurance
    • Talk with ABI folks
    • Talk with commonhealth folks
    • Get him signed up for one or the other
    • get him moved to a rehab facility
    • hire a financial advisor, schedule first meeting
  • survive closing
    • obtain home insurance
    • pack up 10 more boxes, 2 per week

a lot of the same stuff with a sprinkling of new. that's how i roll!

And glad things seem to be good for your dad at the rehab home. Does this mean the workload is going to ease up there with managing all of the logistics and insurance and things?

unfortunately i think we have to work towards a different MassHealth insurance  but the billing woman at the rehab home has said she's going to walk me through everything so that's nice!

this has maybe only happened twice in my life! i never really got to find out why this woman (A) punched this other woman (B). My friends and I notice 'A' stomping heavily and quickly into the bathroom. We laughed and said she's definitely going to boot in there. I went out for a cigarette and A fell through the front door from the inside of the bar and onto the outside entrance way. A gets up, goes back inside, comes back outside followed by a couple police officers. B and her whole gaggle of bridesmaids (yes, B was on her bachelorette!) come running outside talking about how A just punched her for no reason in the bathroom. I wish I'd had popcorn...

Week 1 – Monday

spent most of the day sitting on my friend’s porch just relaxing and having a couple drinks. we got home, unpacked, and prepared some quick bfasts and lunches for Tuesday’s work day. we made a kale salad and ordered pizza for dinner. it was quite pleasant. was asleep before 9pm and slept for 9 hrs!

Week 1 – Tuesday

hectic work day since I probably should have done some work over the weekend. oops. visited my dad and met with a couple of the admin folks there.

got to sleep a bit late after dinner was all said and done. we made an old recipe we used to enjoy, chicken thighs baked in maple Dijon sauce and that same kale salad from Monday night (kale, Italian dressing, feta, craisins, sunflower seeds). the thighs really need to broiled after though to crisp up the fatty pieces. blech. it probably didn’t help that we used a smaller baking dish and had to squish the thighs all in there.

Week 1 – Wednesday

slept in again and only got a quick 4 min yoga flow in. work was super productive and even got a chance to make sure all my dad’s bills were paid for this month.

I got a load of laundry in and did my yoga while that washed. swapped it to the dryer and started cooking dinner – a curried broccoli soup with sausage! stayed up a bit later than I wanted to talking on the phone about home insurance. we kind of have a plan in place and hopefully will choose one today or tomorrow.

I'm so stressed out bc I know nothing about buying home insurance. Good for you!

neither do we!! insurance brokers have been helpful but very slow as they have to go back to the underwriters to ask the questions we ask. i've read some stuff that says to go over your policy with an attorney... we're probably not going to do that. just remember you can switch without penalty to another carrier after a year. or toggle with your policy options within a carrier whenever.
