raptron Posted May 22, 2019 Author Report Share Posted May 22, 2019 It's zero week, so I'm definitely doing things. \o/ Day 0.1 I had a very productive gymnastics practice with front tumbling on floor, front walkover front tuck dismounts on balance beam, back handsprings on the high beam with lots of mats (but they felt really good), and toe shoots to high bar where I actually had 2 attempts that got my feet behind me by the time I caught the bar (!). I ended with stalder negatives (I can't not graze my feet on the floor) press handstands off of a tiny mat but my hip flexors were too shot to actually do them on the floor. Day 0.2 I mis-loaded my deadlifts and hit an accidental PR of 4 x 295# for my sumo deadlifts. I was like "hmmmm, that was harder than it should have been, maybe I'm still just under-rested." Nope, plate math fail. I still managed the next 2 sets of 4 at 285# and then a crisp double. Front squats: 5 x 4 x 180# Bent over db row: 5 x 10 x 45#s Single leg glute bridges: 5 x 20 Scap push-ups: 5 sets Plan of the rest of the week includes lifting on Wednesday and maybe Sunday with gymnastics Thursday and Saturday. I'm going to a music festival on Friday (but just Friday, and Janelle Monae was the main reason I bought a ticket and she pulled out so I am VERY DEVASTATED and not all that excited about it anymore). Saturday, I have some dinner plans. Sunday, I think I have a brunch. Monday we might go to the beach if the weather is nice as it's a holiday here in the US. I considered walking home or doing some errands, but my workout was going to be short anyway, so I went and got my pump on. I was feeling pretty run down (SHOCKING, I know) from my sleep schedule and my workout schedule, so I did a bit of shopping after work and then just headed home. I read on the couch for a couple of hours, showered, tidied my room a bit, and went to bed around 11 pm. I was planning on going to practice, but realized that would probably not be the best choice for me. BORRRRING. So boring. (But very restful!) Lifting: 2/3 Shenanigans: 0/1 Writing: 0/2 Music festival this afternoon/tonight! Practice tomorrow! LONG WEEKEND HOLIDAY GOODNESS ON THE HORIZON. Have you guys seen any dumb shenanigans I can do yet? raptron Posted May 28, 2019 Author Report Share Posted May 28, 2019 Day 0.5 The music festival was pretty fun! I walked 11 miles (?!??!) and most of it was bopping around between stages. It wasn't super crowded, I thought, and we got to see a lot. I wound up catching some of or most of Mura Masa, Christine and the Queens, Tank and the Bangas, Chvrches, Gang of Youths, a token 21 Pilots song for my superfan friends, and Yaeji. Then I left and ate both a hot dog and a hamburger because I couldn't decide which. Day 0.6 Practice went well. I stretched for probably too long, but once I got going it was great. I landed 5/5 front handspring + front pike + front tucks to my feet, including 2 good ones. Then I went to uneven bars and did 10 toe shoots to high bar, including 2 that had a bit of swing out of them. Then I worked on front walkover + front tuck dismounts, which mostly went ok. Plus some forearm scorpion balances for "fun" and press handstands off of a 1" mat. After that, I did some errands and walked all the way across town to go to a birthday party, which was fun and lovely on a BEAUTIFUL spring day. Day 0.7 I woke up and walked to the gym to lift. I accidentally did my squats lighter than I was supposed to, but they felt kind of hard for some reason, so maybe that is okay in the end. 5 x 2 x 255# RDLs: 4 x 6 x 185# Pull-ups: 3, 3, 3, 2, 2 Curls: 5 x 10 x 15# dbs Toes-to-bar medley: 5 sets From the gym, I walked 40 minutes or so to a nearby lake to cool off. I drank some beers and my friend met up with me for a swim and chat. We left and got dinner and I realized I was starrrrving and slightly drunk and slightly sunburned, so I got home at 9:30 or so and promptly fell asleep. Day 1.1 Monday was a US holiday, so I woke up early and went to surprise a friend at the zoo! She's giraffe like herself and also loves giraffes, so we dressed in giraffe shirts (though I wore a onesie) instead and surprised her by getting tickets to feed the giraffes. Afterwards, we got lunch and then drove back up to Boston, where I went straight to a friend's cookout and stayed late enough to start the Bruins game. Love how you see it as core conditioning when I totally classify it as deeeeep back stretching (and I'm no where near my head ). Actively DYING. Hip thrusts are hard, yo. Something about these higher rep accessory exercises get my heart rate explodin'. I went and bought groceries after this workout and then ate some questionable leftovers because I didn't want to throw them out. I seem to have survived the night at least. My co-DM hasn't been following the D&D adventures the last month or two, so we met up for a beer and brainstorming session where I could catch him up on what's happened lately and we made some decisions about the bigger arc/mythology we're establishing. It was super productive and I'm excited about where the game is headed. Went to sleep a bit late but slept VERY soundly. There were like 3 St. Louis fans in there though?!?!? GO AWAY. The game went into overtime and then my friend who came to watch with me wound up talking late so I got into bed at like 1:30 AM instead of something more reasonable. Oh well.
