woodandbronze is late to the show

Hi, although I've been living this challenge since it began, this is my first post. My goals are unchanged, i.e.

Quest 1 - lose 8.2 kg by December 31st - my focus this challenge is not to snack. Compliance for the last 2 weeks: 86%

Quest 2 - lose body fat - focus on doing 20' cardio/day. Compliance: 100%

Quest 3 - learn the ukulele - focus on the formal lessons I'm taking. I have to say I'm more than frustrated with this right now - I'm still practicing every day, but I'm trying to focus on chords & strumming this round and my teacher is still giving me picking exercises. Is my strumming that bad? lol... Compliance: 100%

Quest 4 - live within my revised budget - ROTLMAO! Compliance: 57% (Besides having to restock some grocery staples which has made my grocery bills go up, I had to replace my 8+ year-old computer

And the reason this is my first post is that I have another goal:  to reduce my screen time. I'm down to just 39'/day on my phone, but computer time has risen. Does anyone know of a good tracker for a mac?

YESSSSSS UKULELE!!!!!!!

I'm self-taught and in progress. I'm so jealous you got lessons! I don't have lessons near me. Don't worry about strumming, it just kinda clicks, and if you know the chords, you can strum along to any song. Definitely take advantage of any picking techniques while you're taking lessons!  (Also, buy a chord chart and cheat by learning ahead!) But it IS weird- I mean, are you not learning ANY chords? WEIRD

I am AMAZED by your mathematic skills tracking your progress. That's really great! It's hard when you have a major financial setback like an old computer needing replacing. It's just SO expensive, but you can rest easy for another eight years and enjoy this new one :)

Cool! I considered learning on my own - there are plenty of resources on- and off-line for that - but past experiences with learning music taught me that I would lose interest quickly if I went that route. So, congrats to you for sticking with it! My teacher has taught me the C major chords and I have a short piece to work on, but then he gave me this extra picking exercise to do. I know it will help get me where I want to go, but it's frustrating.

Thanks - just a page out of my journal to track my goals :smile-new:
