Pack. Move. Unpack: Tanktimus Relocates Forum Headquarters

I love that personality test! I took it a while back, I particularly like how thorough it is in terms of describing relationships an potential issues between different numbers and communication strategies, etc.  Definitely way better than Myers Briggs IMHO.

That picture is so cute! Sra. Tanque looks so glowy :D

I like it better than MBTI as well, 16 different combos is too many to keep track of.

Today is a good day. We had a baby appointment. The midwives said Sra. Tanque and Baby Tank are progressing right where they need to be. Baby is in the right position, a good size, and her heartbeat is great. Sra. Tanque is right in the middle of the range of healthy in terms of weight gain. I got an award of sorts as well. They showed me how to feel where the baby's rear end is, and showed me that if I wiggle it I can feel her feet move. When I felt it they said I had the best dad response they've seen in a long time. We also got set up with a Doula agency. We are feeling very good about our prep (for labor).

I also made dinner. I started out sauteeing some mushrooms in butter in a cast iron skillet. They were for me, as Sra Tanque does not like them. I also made a simple cole slaw. I took angel hair cabbage and mixed it with 3 tbsp each olive oil, honey, and apple cider vinegar and a dash each of salt and pepper. I mixed and set it in the fridge. I boiled some mixed baby potatoes. I boiled some spaetzle noodles as well. When the noodles were ready I set them aside. When the potatoes were ready I mixed them with mayo and whole grain mustard and kind of half mashed them to make a mix between mashed potatoes and potato salad. The best part, however, was the scnhitzel. I took some really thin pork chops and dipped them in eggs I had mixed then in some bread crumbs mixed with smoked paprika. I then cooked them in butter in a cast iron skillet till both sides were done. I made a sauce in that same skillet with more butter, sour cream, paprika and beef broth that I let come to a boil and simmer for a while. It was not done in the order I described and I made a huge mess, but it was awesome.

I didn't know that trick about wiggling the baby's bottom. cool!

I suspect because the midwives don't rely on as much tech, they know a lot of cool tricks like that.

Catching up finally.  Lots of fun stuff going on here.   Sounds so exciting getting your house set up and in order.    Fun fun!   You guys are getting close with ze mini tank as well!   Hoooooly cow, right?

I flipped over and did that test.  Like the others I'm unsure how well it's pegged me, and like @Sloth the Enduring I feel like many of the questions I could have answered either way.   I ended up with 1-9-7, so the Reformer/Peacemaker/Enthusiast.   I don't feel very agreeable or complacent as the 9 would suggest for my second, but the perfectionist in 1 is dead on.

When do we get pics of the new headquarters?!?!   I need to live vicariously through the new home owners on the forums for pete's sake.

How far along are you now? Glad the checkup was all so good!

May I ask what your plans are for the birth? Have been reflecting and reading up on all things birth/labor this week so I'm curious :D

I did the test too. I seem to be relatively balanced (or indecisive perhaps) with lots of scores at similar weights. This test reckons I am a 1/5/9. I don’t know what that means :P

It is indeed a limescale thing. See below.

Thank you.

Ok, so yes, a water softener removes the minerals from hard water. San Antonio gets its water supply from the Edwards Aquifer, which is an underground limestone cave system and apparently geologically significant. All that water filtering through limestone means that minerals dissolve into the water (in our case calcium and magnesium) and when that water comes out of the tap and evaporates it leaves the mineral deposits behind. Those of you who asked above probably know that as you deal with hard water (I had no Idea GB had hard water issues). A softener runs the house's water supply through resin, which changes out the magnesium and calcium ions for sodium ions (that's why you have to buy those heavy bags of salt Starpuck mentioned). When the resin gets full of those minerals, it dissolves the salt in question and runs that water backward through the tank and drains it out again. Therefore your water supply is soft (no minerals) and things in your house don't get

Does my water softener make you feel nostalgic?

Today is a good day. Grocery shopping in the morning, then unpacking after lunch (which we had at home). We put closet things in their appropriate closets in the guest room and office, then set up the furniture in each. Everything in the house is now set up furniture wise (Still need to get furniture for the nursery). We still need to do wall decorations/knick knacks/empty boxes all over the house, but the furniture is done. Dinner was rice with butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar and a little garlic powder. Also some frozen stir fry veggies cooked in my cast iron skillet with soy sauce, rice vinegar and garlic powder. There was also beef cooked in the same manner, with ground ginger added. The meat and veggies were combined and dressed with black bean garlic sauce. It was very good.

As you tell us about what you and Sra. Tanque decide and go through it makes me think back to when I was pregnant with Adam and Rocco... and when I nearly crushed Brandt's fingers :D . And he had to race to the hospital on his bicycle to be in time... Good times...

I was gonna say we don't have birth centers in the Netherlands so you gotta pick home or hospital- but then I googled and there is one in Amsterdam now apparently. It seems nice, same kinda comfort as you'd get at home but without the mess to clean up afterwards? Win.

It was basically move the rear end and because the feet are attached via the legs they move too.

Yeah, I like the balance as well. Interestingly, in some of the photos for the Birth Center they have the same comforter set we do. They have since replaced them all, but they still have the same color scheme.

It was a good weekend. We have got to the putting things on wall stage. Also, We are getting more baby presents. We got a carrier/stroller combo, and the mattress for the crib (crib and bedding are on the way, they must be coming from different distribution centers.

When people brought up home birth with my wife, the mess was the big thing she was worried about. Even though you can get home birth kits that are basically large tarps that cover everything. Personally, I worried about other things...

I totally see 5 for you. The 4 I only see because they tend to be artsy, but you have 5 written all over you.

For our first we want someone else to clean up, that's for sure. Another nice thing about the birth center is that once we are done, we wait a few hours then go home to our own bed instead of being in the hospital a couple of days. It's also a flat rate fee for the birth center you can pay ahead of time in monthly payments (since you are pre-paying there is no finance agreement). That amount is less than copays we'd have with a hospital, and not much more than the fees the OBGYN would have charge.

Yup! Best part about a birth center :D. We had Declan at her moms house, which was wild, and Orin was born in the birth center. And, like you said, after a few hours you get to go home and enjoy your time with the baby. It's pretty amazing. I'm sooooooooooo excited for you and Melissa! As Trixie gets older and sometime next year, we would love to come visit you guys at your new place :).

With my first, the heartbeat stopped, and alarms went wild.  People came running, poked my belly & made me roll over and all was fine & dandy.  But it was frightening for a moment.  That made me afraid to have my second anywhere but the hospital.

First, stayed 3 days (military hospital) and I would have happily stayed longer.  We were convinced it was a mistake to take this tiny, fragile thing home.  Second, only stayed overnight.  They wanted us to stay longer (waiting to be sure the plumbing worked) but we wanted to go home, and were capable of waiting for pee there.  Had to tell them, we are leaving, paperwork signed or not, so get your paperwork.  They got it, unhappily.  We went home, happily.  And he peed, happily.

This concept is so alien to me and I have a lot of questions.

In the US hospitals used to be all all non-profit. Then in '73 Nixon signed the Health Management Organization act that allowed hospitals to operate as for-profit businesses. It's been all downhill ever since.

I didn't take the test on that site. The test I used was from here:

https://enneaapp.com/find-your-type/

It's free. What I recommend is that people take the test and read about the types and see what makes sense.

According to this test, I am a 9, then a 6, then a 1. I need to read up on 9 and 1, but I believe they are polar opposites. On another test I took, I was a 6 wing 5. With MBTI I am an INTP. Good stuff!

Food looks scrumdiddlyumptious!! Also, the Mrs. is absolutely adorable with that belly omgosh.

9 six and 1 are all related. When sixes are healthy they take on the healthy aspects of a 9. When 9s are unhealthy they take on the unhealthy aspects of a 6. 9s can have a one wing (I do). They are not polar opposites. In fact, Sra. Tanque is a 1 with a 9 wing.

Also, who sent us the Rebel onesie with the (Star Wars) Rebellion logo on it? We think it's an NF person, because it came from California. The name said "Jerome Jerome."
