Week 0 June 26-30

I need to send in a submission of Writing to my mentor. I owe him three response papers, too.

I need to register for the Fall Writing workshop and Craft classes.

It would be good to figure out where I'm spending the 4th, since fireworks are not cool with my psyche.

Fall term registration is complete.

In other news, I have 20 pounds of local blueberries. Well. More like 18 pounds, now. Anyway, they are wonderful. I'm thinking of ordering another flat so I can have blueberry crepes in February. I'm still hunting sources for raspberries. I love July.

Vivian and I played Candy Land last night. The day was hectic and weird and she was a bright spot. On the way home, we decided to follow a rainbow, and it led to the ice cream shop, where I got a scoop of strawberry balsamic, which took the edge off the relentless heat before hitting the hot tub and sauna. The healing benefits of this are amazing, at the soul level. I cry easily lately, and that's ok too.

Also, a Friend sent along a CD of plainsong chants. I am loved.

Today is wound care and speech therapy and work on an essay about how a life guided by morality is living in love. Submitting this to Payne on Monday, possibly with a deeper piece from the memoir.

But first, yogurt with blueberries.

Got to see Vivian yesterday, since Thursday is a national holiday. (The US is a human rights crisis and a threat to continued life on this planet. But that's another story.) We read comics, played cards, and played in the park while the wind whipped around us, threatening to storm, and it was delightful.

I was worn out enough that I didn't make it to restorative yoga. I've been cleared to start restorative, but still not regular stretchy bendy yoga and inversions are right out.

The wound is coming along nicely, and the skin growth is really taking well to the honey application. I feel like I should get some sort of  druid naturopath achievement for using silver on the venomous wound and honey to help regrow skin. :)

Today I have speech therapy and then a lot of resting. Fireworks going off in the neighborhood has never been an ok thing for me, and this year it's going to be worse, both from the political climate and the sensitivity to sounds. Add in my underlying PTSD, and the whole thing is just begging to become A Situation.

Pages are turned in for July and bills are paid.

The morning routine of hot tub and sauna is in its sixth week, so I think it might stick. It definitely helps with the muscle tension and the healing.

May you have love and light today.

Here's hoping you get a quiet 4th, or at least a 4th with good noise cancelling headphones.

Screenshot_20190  I made it through the 4th to discover that the City rescheduled the fireworks display for tonight because of thunderstorms. Not sure how well that will work out, to be honest.

Stranger things happened, complete with totally legit retro 80s videogame strobe warning.  Well played, Netflix.

I'm tired and it's hot. I dropped my bike off for a tune up at the shop and went to a Meeting, then hit the toy store.  Life in a Village is good.

Love & peace, y'all.

My bike is tuned up and has a new Bell and basket. I walked down to get it, paid the man, and rode it home.

Life is good.

How is it that this is the last thing I posted?

What a weird few months it has been since July. The balance issues were dramatic enough that my doctor said no bike rides, and then there was a lot of dogsitting, some writing, some public Philosophy.

I might not get a new thread up this challenge. The glasses that are supposed to help with screen viewing are finally on order though, and should be here in time for the next round.

Despite the whirlwind that seems to have picked up physically and emotionally (thought the MRI was going to leave me ruined, for real), I have some footing.

I'm thinking good thoughts for you all, my Nerds.

Love&peace.

It's been a rough week, no doubt, but re-entry from a conference is always difficult.

I went to Quaker Meeting yesterday and talked with Friends, met some new faces, and spent the day in overdue self care.

The article is coming along. I hope to have it finished by the end of the month. I need to write a bunch of difficult stuff for the MFA, and I'm being avoidant, while also jotting a sentence here and there. It's scary stuff, best approached at an angle.

Court is tomorrow. I feel as though I cannot see beyond that point, that my life has a curtain draped over it. It feels impossible to plan so much as going to lunch.

My whole social world shifted this past week. I feel adrift. I am grieving, because apparently I needed to do more of that.

Vivian and I had a lovely time at the park together on Saturday, though she was subdued and had sad moments. IMG_20191012_192516_023.jpg
