A Wild Pecs Appeared!

Recommended Posts

So I realized I wasn't having fun with my program anymore and I didn't see results like I wanted. So I spent the day researching/trying out stuff and made myself a new program.

Well, I say new... It's pretty much the same thing I was doing when I first started. Expect today when I tried I was worse at everything compared to when I first started out..? Is it because I tried so many different exercises and was already tired, or because of the extra 8 kgs I have now? Ehhhhh, I don't know. I'm going to postpone my panicking until the day after tomorrow when I'll try again. If it's still worse than when I started I've backtracked so much. Ugh.

Anyway! I can't begin to tell you what my exercise today was! Mostly just trying out like million different things.

Now to cook and clean for the rest of the day. Yay. I can't believe I spent so much time on research that ultimately led me to do stuff I already did :D But at least now I know WHY I was told to do the stuff I was doing.

Also tomorrow I'll be going on a run in a first time for forever, wish me luck!

Update on running: Still sucks.

Sun was brutal today. Also I suck. Also my shoes are ugly and I literally spent an hour trying to style myself to look presentable enough for running. (My shoes still looked as bad lol. I need some extra money to buy some new ones. The current shoes look like bowling shoes... For all I know they might be bowling shoes? Still better than ballerinas or high heels which are the only other options)

I got an ad from c25k and it tracked my distance! Honestly I would have been more happy if it didn't :D 1,7 miles in what... 20 mins plus 5min warmup & 5 min cooldown that I partly walked the route..? Oh, that's not good at all.

Well I'm still super proud I went at all. I spent 5x the time I spent jogging dreading it and trying to think excuses of why I couldn't do it (Again! I need to stop this!)

Eh.... I did my best at working out today. Not gonna post any results cause it was embarrassing. I'll have to try to do exactly what I started with to figure out if I really have backtracked. Ughhhhhhhhh.

Also can't be bothered with the daily habits any more. They seem a bit silly and life is getting busy again so I'll just be doing my best everyday :D

Edit cause I want to keep it to 1 post a day and haven't done my running yet: My family has now forbidden me from using the scale because I was stressing about gaining weight too quickly. I mentioned trying some sort of diet to control this and got so many angry shouts of me being skin and bones. So now I feel like I haven't gained enough while still feeling too heavy??????????? Ughhhhhhhhh. This is super confusing.

Edit 2 I went back to look at my exercises before nd no. I'm just crazy. I definitely do better. There was 1 freak workout that confuses me still but overall I'm getting better results. Just not getting them better as fast as I'm used to.

So happy I decided to start to log things here. It's super nice to have a place where I can actually check up on my progress for real instead of relying my very confusing emotions.

Running done! 90s running, 2 min walking x6 + Warmup & cool down.

Had a great time preparing to run! No outfit problems cause my little sister gave me her spare pair of adidas shoes! Cause that's where she is at life. How do you have 3 pairs of adidas plus other running shoes????? But really I'm thankful. Also, I think these might be the pair she ran a half marathon in? So they're gonna be my lucky shoes for now on :D

Also my program totally worked with my cardio. I was struggling with my feet getting tired before I was breathing hard. This is actually amazing. No like super amazing. I smoked for like... 6 years daily? And quit like 3 months ago??????? And I can actually breathe??????????? This is HUGE :D

Edit correction!

It's been less than 2 months it seems :o this is pretty great honestly.

I don't know you but looking at your training regimen, it looks like you are more on a body-shaping strenght-building journey than a weight-loosing one. If such, the actual shape of your body and how you feel about it is probably way more important than anything the scale can show. Your family is probably having a good call here (and yes, with the exercises you're doing, provided you eat enough proteins (and calories) to support it (which you should, or you'd end up straining your body and it burning itself to maintain itself afloat), you're bound to be gaining (muscle) weight. It's probably quicker at the start and will slow down after that so I'd not worry about it).

Living life as a Druid is about walking with the beasts. It's about being scared, looking your fears in the eyes and going on anyway. Dread doesn't go away, you just learn to know it. It's still a beast, it still has fangs, but you walk among it.

I mean logically I know this, it's just a bit hard emotionally. I'm seeing good changes in the mirror mostly but yeah, I was still freaking out a bit. I guess I'll just do my best and ignore scales exist and hopefully I'll get used to things :)

Forgot to post yesterday's workout!

Incline pushups: 8, 8, 8

Beginner shrimp squats: 8, 8, 8

Bent leg horizontal pulls: 8, 8, 8

Hanging knee raises: 8, 8, 8

I'm trying to find a good level of exercise where I can do 3x8 reps with clean form. Yesterday was maybe a bit too easy so I'll raise the level a bit with all exercises. Also I went back to inclines, just doing them as low as I can. It feels more fun than knee pushups and I'm still struggling a bit with regular ones. I think tomorrow I'll build some elevated platform out of books because I haven't found any object that would be low enough otherwise :D

(now just trying to gather motivation for a run. Why is it always 100x harder to start!???)

I skipped yesterday's workout because I was feeling super tired. Almost did the same today but I read somewhere that exercise could boost your mood. So I forced out 2 meh sets. I feel a bit better but the actual workout was a disaster.

Bodyrows: 8, 8 (1 leg bent, 1 straight)

Single leg box squat: 8, 8

Knee pushups: 8,8

Hanging knee raises: 8, 8

I feel like I'm getting no upper body strength and it's driving me crazy. Hanging sucks, pushups aren't going anywhere and the rows are stupid :( yay for leg strenght I guess but my legs have always been my main strenght so it doesn't feel like I'm doing much :/

Edit: turns out I might be over training? I'm going to take a mini holiday (ok the thought gives me anxiety I should definitely do it) until the start of the next challenge and see where it'll get me :D

Feels like a place I know (though I'm not training half as much as you do). Let me know if you figure this one out.

This?? This is not a choice!!!! Of course I have to do the cooler one!

So I spent yesterday night and the morning today stressing about this. Cause 200 jump squats sounds easy but it's not. It really is not. And what do I do if I run out of steam? Go halfway, drop out, and do the reasonable exercise??!? No way, that's too lame!

Do I did 200 jump squats.

Right off the bat? You've not taken it easy on yourself. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, you should most definitely do what appeals to you but chances are that you're indeed somewhat straining your body. Enjoy your holiday. :)

Good news is, after a small break everything feels better :) From now on I'm going to have an actual schedule and have Sundays off. Should work better? Let's hope so!

Completely forgot to post my workouts here for 2 days. But I did start training again 2 days ago. I think I'll hang out here in the battle logs for a while longer and figure some stuff out by myself before going to do a challenge. I feel like it's easier to switch things up if I only log here for some reason :D

Exercise 2 days ago:

Kneeling pushups: 10, 8, 9

Beginner single leg box squats: 8, 8, 8

Horizontal pulls (tried something weird with a sheet. Was slightly weird and a bit scary. Not a fan) : 8, 8, 8

Angled bridges: 8, 4, 3

Incline pike pushups: 8, 7, 8

Hanging knee raises: 8, 8

Yesterday went jogging and had one of those very bad days with it. 0 focus and at the end of each interval I had to just focus on pushing through. The break might have set me back a bit with running but it did a world of good otherwise so I won't complain too much.

Oh also I thought I should keep track of how I'm progressing with my program so! Yesterday was week 3, day 2.

Good news and bad news! Let's start with the bad cause it's not too serious and it's always nice to end things in high note.

I played a lil "bet u can't do this" game with my 11 year old little sister and she was right once again. So I tried weird stretchy things with my legs and they still hate me. So I've skipped 2 days of exercise and might do the same tomorrow cause ouch. It's got a bit better but yesterday just laying down with my legs straight was super painful so that's not saying much.

Good news time! A taekwondo place got their own dojo 7km away from my house after 30 years of renting odd places all over the town. So now they offer free lessons up to yellow belt (after which it's like 30e a month or so). So I'm joining cause any hobby for the great price of free is amazing! Classes will start the 2nd day of next month and I'm super excited!

.... Also a lil bit terrified. But the way I see it they can't have adults doing same stuff as they had me do when I was in tkd as a kid. Cause for adults doing stuff like flips is not something u do after 2 or so months. Ofc it's not gonna be like that but I'm gonna worry about it anyway because there's no logic in my emotions once again. Still! Mainly super excited!

Walked around 12 000 steps yesterday. My legs are still hurting and I think I might have maybe pulled my muscles a bit. But taking it easy has been helping!

I'm so happy I decided to spend all of yesterday outside just enjoying the day though. Right now the weather forecast rain for the next 2 weeks. I love the fact it's getting cooler but going on runs will be a challenge I think :concern:

Yesterday only walked 8000 steps and did nothing else but today managed a workout! I decided to get silly and try this:

 https://youtu.be/iAOwTTCe40w

But turns out it wasn't silly at all. I did one round and skipped the sprinting lol.

Still it was super fun and really got me sweating :)

Also current goal is to get my abs back. They've completely dissappeared so I'll be adjusting my eating to get rid off extra fat and we'll hopefully see results :>

Tried uphill sprints today and oh my god. Yes. This is the thing. The uphill part was mostly coincidence (better than downhill lol) but sprinting. So much yes. Jogging is boring and slightly painful, sprinting is flying.

So definitely change of plans when it comes to running now. Gonna jog to warm up because I'm not a crazy person but I'll be sprinting like a crazy person, grinning like a maniac. Because it is amazing.

I absolutely CAN run on caffeine and hatred. But only with a dash of milk.

Challenges' status:

Spoiler

Not gonna Challenge anymore for now. I took Steve's words and started thinking in days and years. Challenges are just short-term distractions.

Didn't post anything yesterday cause I thought I'd start logging my foods too. I thought I'd try getting proper adds so I've been paying a lot more attention to what I eat. But ehhhhhhh.... I took pics? And it's not really the best idea cause I need to see my macros and if I'm being absolutely crazy. I thought I'd get off easy but now I want proper data lol.

Anyway did a random YouTube workout again. Can't remember which one but it got me sweating and doing all sorts of crazy stuff. I think I'll stick to just doing some kind of workout for now. Especially since what I think look cool usually need to be tweaked to be a bit easier so I can actually complete them. So definitely making progress.

Also did stretching and abs. Cause I want my splits and I want my abs. And lots of cooking because I want to be healthy. We'll see how things go when I start school again. I'm going to have to get a time machine. Especially since I can't compromise my sleeping anymore. Ugh..... We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

Anyway! Tomorrow will be a proper structured post with my workouts listed and with my food properly tracked!

Tracking everything has been very eye opening and exhausting. So I haven't had much energy to come here and do it again.

Brief update: I did lose weight but meh. Now I'm too skinny again. Somehow I feel like I'm not getting any muscle definition at all and just keep adding and losing fat. I think I'll make a sort of a meal plan and at least try and eat balanced but tracking is driving me up the walls.

Still need to figure out my training tho. I guess I've been switching things up too often and that's why I'm not getting results but ugh. I don't know what I should stick to.

So ugh. This post really was just me complaining and rambling. I guess I can be allowed that just this once :D

Tracking helps but, sometimes, gut feelings can be close enough. Do you feel hungry, especially on workout days? Do you feel like you're eating enough protein?

Honestly I can tell when I'm hungry but everything else was a bit ehhhhhhh. But I did learn a lot more stuff about nutrition so I feel like in hindsight it was a great idea to exhaust myself with tracking. I've definitely learned how to substitute unhealthy stuff for things that are good for you and that taste just as good. Also how to figure out my cravings better. These days instead of candy I feel the need to have lemon infused water for example lol :D

But yeah, I think intuitive approach is the best. Things should be easier now that I don't have to overthink things :)
