That's so awesome you have meals and snacks prepped for the whole week!

It's the only way I'll survive, lol. It's a lot of work on Sunday to prep for the week, but it's totally worth when you're pressed for time. If I didn't prep meals, I would end up eating out every day...which gets expensive!

I'm very thankful for my evening off tonight. Even though yesterday was a 4 hour shift, it seemed to be a long 4 hours. I ended up with almost 15k steps though! Heather and the kiddos left yesterday for the week, which sucks. The only good thing is, is that I'll be able to go to bed early tonight lol. Because I had to get my oil changed during my lunch, I only managed 2x 15-min naps yesterday but it is what it is. I made it work. MOAR naps today!! This mornings workout was good-exhausting, but good. I'm really digging this new program.

8/6 WOD (recovery day): The idea is to perform a set of lower/upper stretches called "shock therapy" at the end of the 3rd set for each exercise. I did two rounds of the stretches

3 x 15 face pulldowns 25#

Shock Therapy:

Lower-

  • Crossover pretzel stretch (1 min each leg)
  • 90/90 hip stretch (1 min each leg)
  • Rollover V sits (1 min)
  • Immovable squat (1 min)
  • Walking Alpine climbers (1 min alternating legs)
  • Lunge opens (1 mi each leg)

Upper-

  • RC wand stretch (1 min each arm)
  • Prone AB on elbows (1 min w/ elbow tucks each side)
  • T-spine bridge (1 min each arm)
  • Physioball rolling Y's (1 min)

3 x 15 Hyper Y's (using Physioball)

Shock Therapy

3 x 15 clam shells (each side)

- I forgot my resistance band for this so it was pretty easy

8/7 WOD

2 sets of 6RM weighted chins

  • 6 x 10#
  • 6 x 15#

2 sets of 6RM DB high pulls (35# DB's)

BB OHP 4 x 12 (40#)

Decline bench press 4 x 12

  • 1 x 12 65#
  • 3 x 12 75#

DB step ups 15/10/5 (25# DB's)

DB reverse sprinter lunges 10/8/5 (adjusted from 15/10/5)

2 sets of 6RM weighted chins (15#)

2 sets of 6RM DB high pulls (35# DB's)

*I didn't have time for abs this morning so I'm gonna complete that portion this evening when I get home*

Scheduled Ab workout: 4 min 30 seconds total

Physioball knee tucks- 30 seconds

Bent knee winshield wipers- 60 seconds

Physioball ball pass- 30 seconds

*rest 30 seconds*

Physioball side plank drop (left side)- 30 seconds

Physioball side plank drop (right side)- 30 seconds

Physioball wall plant crunches- 30 seconds

Starfish crunches- 30 seconds

That's exactly why I try to meal prep too. I honestly tend to make pretty healthy choices when eating out... but my wallet really hurts from it.

Same. I make good, healthy choices...but that tends to make things more expensive. Figures, right? The better you want to eat, the more you gotta pay for it...

Are you trying to increase your flexibility? Or does the stretching assist with recovery? I'm just wondering what the shock therapy is about, and if there's a better way to increase flexibility than doing a few random stretches before workouts.

I think it might be a little bit of both. Considering the training days are relatively tough (M/W/F) that Tu and Thu are meant to help recovery with some stretching as well as help increase flexibility. Tu and Thu are kind of a "choose-your-own-adventure" type and that was just what I chose that day. There are other options, like jump rope, KB swings and another slue of stretching exercises. The guy who developed the program is not only a personal trainer but a physical therapist and usually takes various approaches because of his PT degree. I definitely felt better after yesterday's workout because my hammies and hips were pretty tight from Monday's workout..well that, and all the extra work I did at Costco over the weekend, lol.

LOL! It's that cruel thing we like to refer to as inflation LIFE. I hear ya though. I think about some of my favorite "unhealthy" meals and realize most of them (if not all) are super cheap.

I didn't get to complete this when I got home yesterday. We ended up getting out of training closer to 5 and by the time I fought my way through Dallas traffic, made a pit stop at Kroger to pick up banana's and cashew milk, trade in an old game for Xbox credit, it was 630 when I got home. So, I took off my pants and relaxed for the remainder of the evening. I played the new update on Anthem for about an hour in a half then watched this weeks episode of "America's Got Talent".

I decided to move my ab workout AND today's recovery day to Saturday morning to allow myself a solid nights rest. I was in bed by 1030, asleep by 1045 and got to sleep till 615 this morning. IT. WAS. GLORIOUS! Over 7hrs, woot woot! I'm getting off work around 3 today, so, I'll take a little nap before work tonight and prep myself for a kick ass workout tomorrow morning. :D

Sorry for failing on the food porn part of this challenge so far @RedStone. I'll try and remember to snap pics when I eat, lol.

Got like 11.5k steps in yesterday. Over 9k of that was just working out on carts at Costco, lol. I also managed a 45 min nap before work which really helped. The downside was, is by the time I got home, showered, and drank a protein shake, I was having trouble falling asleep right away. I don't think I finally fell asleep till closer to midnight....

I was up by 4:30, drank my pre-workout and headed off the gym. Despite my lack of sleep, I felt good.

My weekend was long. Sunday was SOOOOOO freakin busy at Costco, plus, I think it was the hottest weekend of the summer so far. Average temp was like 107

giphy.gif

I totaled 16,041 steps Saturday and 17,952 on Sunday...which equals to about 18 miles walked throughout the weekend!! Dayum! When you put the steps into miles it really makes a difference.

The Wolfpack comes home today and I'm really excited! I had my quiet time this week, which has been nice, but I've missed everyone! During all the chaos this weekend, I managed to take advantage of that deal at the Converse store and ended up with two sexy ass pairs of shoes:

My low top reds-

And my high top "Cyberpunk" shoes-

I paid like $64 for both pair .

Those are some fly ass high tops!

Thank you, m'dear! I gotta admit, they aren't the most comfortable, but I think it's because they need to be broken in some more. I've been wearing my low-top reds non stop lol.

2 x 6RM BB row

  • 10 x 95#
  • 8 x 115#

4 x 12 DB bench

  • 12 x 32.5’s
  • 12 x 35’s
  • 2 x 12 x 40’s

It's been a good couple days so far, especially because yesterday was my last day of training which means last day of working 8-430. It feels damn good to have my 7-3 schedule back! Last night was my last night off for the week: I gotta work tonight, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but it won't be all that bad. I'm getting used to this double job work schedule. I spent time with the family. Heather bought Box Trolls for the boys, a movie that they ALL love, even Heather. They had been trying to record it at her moms (since she has cable) for the last couple months but to no avail. That is, until one day it finally did record....in Spanish. Lol. My 6 year old kept asking if the one we bought was "in the way we talk" and I assured him it was in English and not Spanish, hahaha. I guess if I was doing duolingo or something it would be good, but I'm not.

I know it's over a week away, but I am stoooooooooked for next weekend! Two words for y'all: Fantasy. Football!! WOOT WOOT! I have a draft at my brothers next Saturday and then next Sunday night is my other draft. Both of these are money league's. The league with my brother is one I've been in for the last....like 8 years. I've yet to win that league once. I've come in 3rd like 3-4 different times, but I've never won it. The other league, which is the more competitive league I've been doing for 4 years now, I won that league my 2nd year with a $200 payout for winning . I love fantasy football. It makes watching other games besides the Cowboys (my team) more fun because you generally have players playing in those games and it's always more fun when you have something to root for. The daft at my brothers is gonna involve some drinking, so, I'll probably go into work that day a little tipsy and I don't even care. I'm not gonna let Costco rain on my fantasy football parade, yo!

I hope everyone is having a good day, today!

That Hawaiian bowl looks A++++++ wowzer.

And those high tops! And for that price?!?!?!? Whaaaat? I'm a chucks girl myself so I am JEALOUS of that deal hot damn.

Fantasy sports is always so interesting to me - I've thought about getting into it for hockey (since that's the only sport I follow) but I don't think I could figure out where to put that in my schedule.  I'd have to give up sleep or something.

Sooooooooooo....someone decided to stay home today from work today.

Image result for liar liar it was me gif

It was well near 12:30 in the morning before I was actually able to fall asleep with a 4:30 AM alarm set for my workout. The alarm went off. I decided to take the day off. I set another alarm for 7:30 and got up, ready to go to the gym. I was excited about the workout ;)

8/16 WOD (Day 12)

*I don't really look to set PR's or even notice strength gains all that much (even though they happen), but today was one of those days I surprised myself. I love setting a PR, don't get me wrong, I'm just not chasing The PR™. They are kick ass when they happen, but even if I'm at the same weight as before I just keep going with the program knowing breakthrough will happen eventually. With that being said-*

2 x 6RM back squat

  • 10 x 95#
  • 10 x 135#
  • 8 x 185#
  • 2 x 6 x 235# (6RM PR!!!)
    • Like I said above, I surprised myself. I remember when 205# for 5 reps felt heavy like a month in a half ago :D.

2 x 6RM hip thrust (95#)

  • I could of gone heavier, but it was hard as hell figuring out how to get out of the hip thrust position without injuring myself. This is one day I would of loved to have my workout partner.

4 x 12 supinated (chin-up) grip lat pulldown

  • 1 x 12 x 85#
  • 3 x 12 x 100#
    • I decided to go with this exercise because I can't do 4 sets of 12 on chin-ups. Maybe 2 sets, but not 4, so I opted for an exercise I COULD do for 4 sets.

4 x 12 DB high pulls

  • 1 x 12 x 15# DB's
  • 3 x 12 x 20# DB's

Cable X crossover (race to 100)

  • 25 x 20# (each arm)
  • 20 x 17.5#
  • 25 x 15#
  • 20 x 12.5#
  • 10 x 10#
    • I switched up which hand went over/under throughout the entirety of the exercise for balance.

Push-up Progression (race to 100) decline --> flat --> kneeling flat --> incline --> kneeling incline

  • 10 --> 7 --> 16 (with one 15 second rest in between) --> 15 (with one 20 second rest in between) --> 52 (with two 15 second rests in between)
    • I knew going into this that this would be my most challenging "race to 100" yet. Luckily, kneeling incline push-ups weren't that hard and I was able to hit my targeted goal. I honestly thought about stopping at 50 but decided I could "push" through with the kneeling incline.

2 x 6RM back squat (235#)

2 x 6RM hip thrust (95#)

Holy Cannoli that was a tough one. One plus, was I looked super jacked after the "race to 100" exercises ;). I'm gonna post before/after pics at the end of the challenge to see how far I came in the 5 week challenge, so, that'll be fun!

In other news: I discovered something amazing yesterday. It's called DIE. It's not meant to sound morbid, but more in line with "dice", like the various ones you use in tabletop RPG's. DIE is a comic from Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans. Here's the description-

THE WICKED + THE DIVINE writer KIERON GILLEN teams up with artist supernova STEPHANIE HANS (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE 1831, Journey Into Mystery) for her first ongoing comic! DIE is a pitch-black fantasy where a group of forty-something adults have to deal with the returning unearthly horror they barely survived as teenage role-players. If Kieron’s in a rush, he describes it as “Goth Jumanji.” That only captures a sliver of what you’ll find in oversized debut issue—where fantasy gets all too real.

How badass, right?? What about the artwork??

Image result for die comic

SO anyways... lol, I'm in love with this comic and I haven't even read it yet. YET! I'm getting the first graphic novel next weekend. Let's fast forward to me visiting the official website of DIE. I discover that they have a beta RPG in the works, fit with a manual, character sheets and all the archetypes. @Starpuck @Jarric and @DarK_RaideR come to mind here ;).

There are 5 archetypes but the one that immediately tickled my fancy was, The ______ Knight. (The underline part is to insert what emotion your knight is, because their powers are fueled by their corresponding emotion.)

"These eight orders of Knights are the world’s greatest warriors, each devoted to a single emotion. Whether it be love, hate, or fear: if they feel it, they can use it to fuel the power of their sentient, arcane weapons. When consumed by their sacred sensation, they are incomparable warriors, capable of miraculous feats. Nothing can stand against their blades – armies, mountains, even ideas. They can defeat anything. Except the passion which drives them"

Image result for schwing gif

I was like, "Whaaaaaaa?!?! That's super bad ass!!" I instantly thought of Rage/Anger before I even took a deep dive into the emotion wheel. Mainly, because anger is something I personally deal with. It's usually more of an annoyance than just being flat out angry, but I've been known to punch a wall or two in my day. I guess the other emotion I could do that would be interesting is Joy/Ecstasy or Terror lol. Rage just seems more fun IMO. The other thing that had me geeking out was "sentient, arcane weapon". Ummmm, yes please!

From the manual:

YOUR SACRED EMOTION

Your powers are driven by you feeling an emotion. Look at the Emotion Wheel on the third page. Select the word that best fits your emotion (from the main coloured spokes only). It can be the one most related to your persona, or the one you think is most interesting to explore. Talk to your GM if you want to know more about what “interesting” may mean. Now write that emotion into the blank space at the top of p1, to denote what the type of Knight you will be. Now you’ve picked, fill in the other blanks on the third sheet. All three of these words are aspects of your Sacred Emotion. If you are unsure what emotion to pick, “Rage” is a simple one to play.

Image result for wheel of emotions

THE ARCANE WEAPON

All the Emotion Knight’s special abilities are channeled via their arcane weapon. All arcane weapons, whatever their form, are sentient and can communicate with its owner (both audibly or with short range telepathy) and share a bond with its owner. It is also able to sense strong sources of its emotion in its vicinity.

Your weapon is... (choose one of the following):

Sword

Hammer

Trident

Your idea: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Your weapon’s main attribute is... (choose one):

Brutal (Special: if this removes a Health from your opponent, remove two Health instead.)

Fast (Special: when removing a Guard from your opponent, remove two Guard instead of one.)

Incredibly Elegant (Uses Dexterity instead of Strength for its dice pool. Special: recover two Guard.)

Your weapon’s personality is... (choose one):

Aggressive

Sarcastic

Cutsie

Your idea: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

One of the first thoughts (and one I continue to hold onto) is a whip as the arcane weapon. Something like the whip that Trevor Belmonte uses in Castlevania.

Related image

And as for personality...well that's kind of a given, yeah?

Image result for deadpool gif

HAHA! OMG, that would be so freakin fun to role play!

Anyways, that was a HUGE tangent I just went on, but I'm excited about the idea. There's a discord for the RPG as well and I'm gonna try and get an online game going if anything. I just don't know a lot of peeps IRL that would run a DIE campaign with me. :(

Happy Friday, errybody! I hope you all have a great day!

Kinda sounds like the way Stranger Things is going with every season. They played D&d in the 80s as kids in season 1, now they're about your age and re-visiting that stuff... Though the artwork gives me serious Elric vibes.

Yup, totally Elric vibes.

I've ran an RPG game or two on Discord already, the entire concept feels fresh enough so as long as it's all text and not voice based, I'd be down to give it a try.

I'm probably going to spend half my day reading the rules for this now, but yeah I'd be up for giving this a go too, looks pretty cool. Either as a play-by-post or maybe a one-shot via webcam (no way I can fit a regular live game in my schedule right now).

Congrats on the squat PR dude!

I might actually be getting a little group together on their discord. Since I like to assert myself with my superior extroverted-ness, I found a couple people willing to do PBP and one of them saying he wanted to be a GM :)! I would still love to run something like this with you, Raider. Let me get more familiar with the world and how this is run and then we can start our own if that's OK with you?

I'm probably going to spend half my day reading the rules for this now, but yeah I'd be up for giving this a go too, looks pretty cool. Either as a play-by-post or maybe a one-shot via webcam (no way I can fit a regular live game in my schedule right now).

Congrats on the squat PR dude!

Dude, I've spent the last 2 days immersing myself into this whole ordeal lmao! Like I said with D_R, lemme get more familiar with it and I would love to run one with you guys! Not that this one won't be fun, but already knowing y'all and being friends helps ;) . Thanks for the compliment my dude! The PR felt good!

Ohhhhhhhhh, man...my boobs are sore. LOL. It was those "race to 100" that's making them feel that way, but I like it! Today marked the first "challenge" of the program. It was simply called, "The Bar Challenge". Sheamus and Cesaro (wrestlers) are the ones that came up with this for the program, and apparently, they are good friends with Jeff, the owner of AthleanX. The "Bar Challenge" was this:

Find your 12RM and perform this bar complex: Deadrow (deadlift into a row) --> mid-range RDL --> hang clean --> reverse lunge (both sides) --> push-press. Doing all of these is 1 rep. The goal was get to 10. Rounds 1-3 use 30 second rest. Rounds 4-6 use 60 seconds rest. Rounds 7-8 use 90 seconds. And, rounds 9-10 use 120 second.

I grabbed the only two Olympic 10# plates in the gym and went with 65# total. Having the Olympic size on the 10's really helped with the deadrow portion because the goal was to touch the ground at the reset of each "rep". The goal was to get to at least round 6. Had I not been able to do so, I would need to repeat the first two weeks. Understandably so because I know the training is just gonna be tougher from here on out. I finished up to round 7 ;). It was tough. And I totaled 28 reps respectively if you add in each rep I did over the course of 7 rounds. That last round I almost dropped the bar because my grip was going out, but I buckled down, gritted my teeth and told myself, "You got dis, motherfucker!" LOL. I'm a little foul mouthed in the gym. Whoops!

I have to do inventory tonight at Costco, so, I work 2-10:30. And then tomorrow is 12-8:30. It's not too shabby. I have plenty of food for the day and I'm more than rested up. 7+ hours of sleep the last 2 nights have really helped!

I hope everyone's weekend is going well :D

That "bar challenge" sounds absolutely hideous dude, well done for getting that far!

It was a little hideous lol. But, honestly, I liked it. I'm masochistic like that ;) (@Mr_Willes, the floor is yous lol!)

Another long weekend. It was hot as hell too. I'm a sweater, but MAN! 5 min outside on carts and I look like this dude:

Inventory was ok. The perk: they fed us chicken alfredo and ceasar salad. I also ate two cookies and some ice cream later when they offered it. That was the worst I've eat in a LONG time so I gave myself some leeway lol.

Things just started with my PBP (play-by-post) for DIE. I'm stoked! Here's the gist of the setting and my character-

Setting:

As teenagers, Wade, Vincent, Madison and Celes were best friends. They bonded over their love for movies and started a small video club at their school many years ago. After graduation, they each went their separate ways and come back together 15 years later to shoot a movie based on a role playing game they played when they were younger.

My Character: Wade Jones

Wade, a successful stuntman in Hollywood has had a hard time breaking into the acting scene. While being an amazing stuntman, he's a sub-par actor and his short temper has got him in trouble a time or two. He's been waiting on his big break and can't seem to catch it, even when he's had opportunities to do so. When Madison, a big time and successful director sends Wade, Vincent and Celes and email wanting to shoot a movie based off the RPG game they played back when they were teenagers, Wade can't help but take the bait. What happens next may make or break him for good.

Character Class: Emotion Knight (I'm not sure what emotion yet. Rage is too simple, so, I'm waiting on "Madison" to assign that role to me.)

Arcane Weapon: Whip/Chain Whip

Personality: Sarcastic (and slightly psychotic...like Deadpool)

My inspiration is obviously Castlevania related. I'm gonna change the design a little on the whip to make it my own, though. I was thinking the weight on the end of the chain whip would resemble a wolf head ;). I'll periodically update what's going on with the story but I'm excited!!

Today's workout-

8/19 WOD (Day 15)

4 x 8RM Deadlift

  • 1 x 10 x 125#
  • 3 x 8 x 145#
    • I went a little lighter on this today because I did a LOT of deadlifting over the weekend working inventory and didn't want to overdue it.

2 x 6 (6 seconds) iron cross iso (overcoming isometrics)

4 x 8RM bench press

  • 1 x 8 x 95#
  • 3 x 8 x 115#

2 x 6 (6 seconds) floor pin press iso (overcoming isometrics)

4 x 6-8RM chin ups

  • 6, 6, 6, 6

2 x 6 (6 seconds) bicep bar breaker (overcoming isometrics)

2 x 10 alternating reverse lunge (75#)

3 x 10 lying DB triceps extension

  • 1 x 10 x 15’s
  • 1 x 10 x 20’s
  • 1 x 10 x 22.5’s

 3 x 10 DB high pulls

  • 1 x 10 x 25’s
  • 2 x 10 x 30's

Another workout in the books. Another chance to see how much stronger I'm getting...I love it! :D I have tonight off from Costco, woot woot! I've come to greatly appreciate having a night off, something I definitely took for granted when I only had 1 job. Heather helped me meal prep yesterday because shes amazing and I got 6 tasty meals ready to go for the week. Instead of mashed sweet potatoes, I did roasted red potatoes. I was starting to get burnt out on sweet potatoes and in dire need of a switch-up. Heather also made some homemade ranch dressing, so, I added that to the potatoes and chicken for three meals and then added homemade garlic hummus on top of the chicken for the other three meals. Daddy's eating good this week!
