CM goes vague

Recommended Posts

thursday was yoga and getting my car fixed as noted. we also went for a short walk in the park after work and then made dinner which included finally using up the rest of the gluten free flour! biscuits were a great choice but a little dry. but i feel like biscuits are supposed to be dry? i wanted to put butter on it but was full and the biscuits already had bacon & cheddar in them! maybe more bacon and cheddar next time :D  super easy though and will be great with my broccoli soup at lunch today.

BUT FOLX THE BEST NEWS IS THAT I WENT TO GYM THIS MORNING!!!! it has been 37 days since my last lifting sesh. and oh my goodness did it feel great to get back to the bar. obviously kept it light but WHO CARES!!

115x5x3

125x5x2

ez bar curls

40x5x5

YAY! Such a happy reunion :)

If I am right in thinking biscuits are the American word for scones, then they should indeed be a little dry and crumbly. This is why I eat them with jam and cream. And tea. Nom. Now you have me thinking of scones. Better than cake, in my opinion.

they are indeed similar! raptron might be better to describe differences but i also have to account for using GF flour. apparently biscuits typically don't have eggs in them, and my recipe used 2. which appears to be similar to a scone recipe!

also i love scones with clotted cream and jam *drool

You can actually toggle the eggs for different effect - extra yolk for tenderness, extra whites for chewiness/structure, or less of both for a more 'traditional' biscuit. I'm a big fan of cream scones because IMO they have the perfect ratio of moisture to fat for the right texture - that's an easy base to tweak for more of a biscuit style baked good, though it won't give you the true flakiness of properly folded butter pastry options. Baking is so cool.

YOU AND THE BARBELL! TOGETHER AGAIN!

I also usually make cream scones these days -- heavy cream is like a magical shortcut to greatness. I think they do tend to rely on SOME gluten force to stay together though, even if you are actively trying not to do too much gluten formation in the process. Eggs probably add more structural integrity for GF version. :D

Glad plastic is keeping debris out of your face temporarily. :x

thanks all! felt great to be back. hoping for a recurrence this week :D

week one:

  • workout
    • two 14-min yoga sessions, weights, and a very short run on sunday. "running" with the dog is never good for any sort of goals but it was worth the erratic pace to spend time with her in the park and loosen up my muscles.
  • sleep: TV off by 8pm for Mon-Thurs. Fri -Sun in bed by midnight 11/15 nights. hopefully we get an average of 7h30m
    • i was in bed by midnight on friday and sunday. avg of 7h13m due to last sunday's insomnia and a late saturday night this weekend
  • eat vegetables
    • saturday didn't really include much veggies, there were some in my little fish tacos. sunday i had a salad. i will try to be more conscientious of this next weekend
  • meet with Medicaid specialist
    • i did and she referred me to someone else  i called the someone else yesterday and got on their calendar in Week 4.
  • unpack some boxes
    • at least one, and we got our little weather station up which i have come to rely on heavily for outfit planning or setting the AC
  • sell some clothes
    • received the thredup bag so I just need to decide what's going in there

vegetables and sleep my friends! gotta be more cognizant of those.

week 2 plan.

M: visit dad

T: yoga

W: visit dad

T:

F: leave for Newport

S: wedding

S: groceries; meal prep

i actually went ahead and filled in when i wanted to gym and run and do more yoga but i backtracked to stick to the challenge of letting myself be vague. it actually has seemed to be working the past 2 weeks so i'm trying to reign myself in and not run ahead.

I have the perfect method for combining precision and ambiguity. I would write my schedule up like so:

Tuesday 13th of August, 38 seconds past 4:11pm: either run or do not run.

hullo week 2! monday i ended up staying home from work. it was a good day to call in and get some stuff done. laundry, clothing returns, visited dad, made sandwiches and broccoli cheddar soup, organized the bathroom closet, and watched some dr who s10.

tuesday it was back to it. i got in some yoga in the AM, was productive at work, prepped meals/snacks for today, and cooked dinner. we picked up the store brand marinara a couple weeks back to compare it to Rao's since the ingredients looked the same. we had spicy italian sausage, kale, the sauce, and provolone cheese (leftover from monday's sandwiches). the sauce definitely delivered and is much cheaper :D

100x5x4

ez bar curls

40x5

50x5x4

deadlifts

115x5

125x5

alright alright alright

rough sleeps on wed night and thurs night. restless legs mixed with probably some relocation depression. i was able to visit my dad on wednesday and then went for a short walk in the park with pup & Spouse.

thursday i slept in a bit and had a fast paced day at work. i ran our little book club after work which was The Last Days of Night - can recommend! It was fun and new to me. Same author who wrote the screenplay for The Imitation Game. i mostly snacked on fruit, cheese, and crackers so I wasn't hungry for dinner. Spouse ditched the dinner plan and instead we baked a freezer cauliflower pizza. it kind of put my cheese content over i think because my stomach was burning. luckily i was able to get to sleep and stay asleep which was a relief!

i did yoga this morning which included bridges and clamshells to help out my knee. we leave for Newport, RI tonight for my cousins wedding tomorrow!

week two:

  • workout
    • two 16-min yoga sessions, weights, and a short run on saturday. fitbit also logged 47 minutes of aerobic activity on saturday night bc i was dancing HARD
  • sleep: TV off by 8pm for Mon-Thurs. Fri -Sun in bed by midnight 11/15 nights. hopefully we get an average of 7h30m
    • i was in bed by midnight on sunday. fri and sat were wedding festivities! avg of 7h31m which is quite grand considering some bouts of restless legs on tues and wed night.
  • eat vegetables
    • saturday we went to this awesome hawaiian place for lunch before the wedding and my rice bowl came with a giant side of roasted vegs. sunday i had meant to have a crucifer salad but wasn't hungry after a big breakfast and chipotle bowl dinner. i will try (again) to be more conscientious of this next weekend
  • meet with Medicaid specialist
    • on their calendar in Week 4
  • unpack some boxes
    • not really. we didn't have much time in the house and when we did it was spent on laundry and meal prep.
  • sell some clothes
    • oops. didn't make progress here.

sleep was better but the life goals slacked off last week. i should try adding those to my "plan"

week 3 plan.

M: visit dad

T: pick up TJ; fill ThredUp bag

W: unpack a box

T: visit dad

I BELIEVE IN "UNPACK A BOX" WEDNESDAY. <3

THANKS! and i actually was able to strike both life things from my list last night! i unpacked a suitcase of clothes that either went right into the thredup bag or into a tub of donation clothes! so i emptied a suitcase instead of a box and also realized i'll need more thredup bags...

monday was mostly getting back to the work week and visiting my dad. we made a simple dinner of hot italian sausage and brussels for dinner and went to bed at our normal time.

tuesday was great after a nice long sleep (8hr12m!). yoga in the morning and then the unpacking/filling up donation bag in the evening.

i'd love to get to the gym tomorrow *fingers crossed!

House starting to feel like home yet?

thanks! it is. despite still not having kitchen walls or a ceiling, we're getting into a routine and my sleep has been much better. i don't think i've had insomnia symptoms for about a week. maybe it was sleeping at an airbnb for 2 nights and pining for my bed? maybe things are finally just settling in. but i do feel better and am grateful for whatever reasons that may be!

yesterday was more morning yoga. my right knee still hurts after jogging and dancing on saturday. i've been trying to make sure i'm stretching more. we made it to the gym this morning and i actually took my time between sets to stretch (i'm usually supersetting and kind of rushing). i also skipped bb squats for the same reason.

deadlifts

115x5

125x5

135x5x3

ez bar curls

40x10

50x5x4

underhand cable pulldowns

85x5

100x5x2

DB goblet squats

40x6

40x5

our gym is just a little too hard to get to in the mornings. the quickest way is on the highway and that starts to get bogged down with traffic when we leave the gym. we might be looking into closer gyms to get more of our time's worth.

i visited my dad last night and made a hungryroot for dinner: brussels, tofu, thai peanut sauce, and we added brown rice. we totally forgot about laundry and instead watched an episode of The 100. bed was pretty nice and early :D

week three:

  • workout
    • three yoga sessions (15, 15, and 20-mins), weights, and a short run on saturday morning
  • sleep: TV off by 8pm for Mon-Thurs. Fri -Sun in bed by midnight 11/15 nights. hopefully we get an average of 7h30m
    • i was in bed by midnight on fri and sun. saturday we celebrated our 1 yr wedding anniversary and boldly stayed up until midnight haha sleep average was exactly 7h30m!
  • eat vegetables
    • saturday i had turkish kebob for lunch (small side salad came with it) and a big pile of swiss chard with my dinner. sunday included a veg packed omelette (broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, and more!) as well as a sweetgreen salad for lunch.
  • meet with Medicaid specialist
    • meeting on wednesday this week!
  • unpack some boxes
    • hells yeah! emptied 2 suitcases and set aside more things to donate/sell. we also got our new dining room table set from my step grand parents and a super gorgeous $30 bookcase from fb marketplace. so those were moved in and set up. we also had a plumber come friday and fix our water line to the fridge since the walls/ceiling are open right now anyway. Spouse installed a new water filter and now we can get ice and water from the fridge!
  • sell some clothes
    • waiting to hear from thredup on my first bag of stuff i sent and then i'll order another bag to fill.

giphy.gif

week three was a pretty bomb week. i'd love to get my running sessions to be a bit longer than they have been. we have our next 5K on 10/6.

hahaha closer to 20. a lot of books and doodads.

yesterday after work i finally brought 4 things to the dry cleaner/tailor. two for tailoring and 2 for just cleaning. one being my wedding dress! i'm hoping to sell the wedding dress, a london fog raincoat, and another nice dress. i got home to find our dog had thrown up and pooped on the dining room carpet... so that was fun. we ended up with a bag full of veggies from my mom's garden so i planned out how we were going to use those up before camping on friday. we used a third of a jalapeno in dinner last night and yowwwwwwwww that was spicy.

so ya know just your normal monday catch up things. we have pretty much everything we need for camping laid out but it needs to go in bags now.

Liked preceding post for everything except the doggo ah, return to sender.

Our pup has iron fortitude, but between the 4 cats, the hairball fallout can get intense at times. (Apparently, I can sleep through anything but that particular sound.)
