One of the hardest things for me to deal with is I didn't get this way overnight, and I can't fix it overnight. Fixing it takes consistency, building habits that will last, not just get me to the goal and then going back to what I was doing and losing all progress made. I've learned a whole lot about what DOESN'T work for me lately, I've also learned that I can't abuse my body the way I used to when I was younger, recovery takes too damn long now! I've been following a couple podcasts, one is Not Your Average Runner, the other is Phit-N-Phat, NYAR talks about running at any size and age, realistically. She also stresses the importance of not quitting on yourself, habit rather than motivation, and other types of good stuff. Phit-N-Phat is a woman that lost over 100 lbs and kept it off 24 hours at a time. She's where I stole the line "I didn't die or get pregnant" from. She talks about being realistic, making a 24 hour plan and sticking to it, (if you're going to have 12 hershey's kisses for breakfast, put it on your plan! LOL) and a lot of don't follow a diet unless that's how you're really going to eat...make it sustainable. If you want to eat Paleo or Keto for the rest of your life, fine, but don't do it to get to a goal weight and then go back. Pay attention to how you feel, are you really hungry? Are you bored? Are you eating your feelings? A lot of other good stuff from her too but I'd be here all day and I do have to work at some point So the big goal is still this... Lose 50 lbs (total) by October, 31st, that's 5 lbs a month January - Done! February - Done! March - Done! April - Done May - Nope June - Double Nope July - Not looking good for the home team The Plan.... 1. Three interval runs, and one strength training a week. Make one of these runs outside when possible. Non-game days only, game days give me at least 10,000 steps and at least 20 flights of stairs 2. Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 3. Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read Those that have followed me before know I was going through some personal stuff, I posted an update in my last challenge which I will put under a spoiler here for those interested Spoiler So, as everyone knows my wife and I have been having issues (I'm going to call her D because it's quicker than typing out my wife every time.) A lot of our issues centered around her being in a bad place mentally and not being 'present' in our relationship for the last three years, and honestly, lack of intimacy (sex in particular) for most of the relationship. She had been working on the being present part and had been putting in effort to change this...it was difficult for me to accept because after years of this I was so far over it I didn't want it to work out if I'm being honest. For the other part she was trying, but has come to the realization that she is asexual (sorry if I've gone over any of this before, just honestly trying to collect my thoughts on it because I haven't had a chance to journal about this) I am NOT...I had suggested the possibility of opening our relationship but she had to take some time to think that through....while it may not be a perfect solution in anyone else's mind, it works best for us and our needs. Quite honestly it's been surprisingly beneficial on the communication portion of our relationship which hadn't really been that great since we moved in together. Season is almost over, will be done before the end of this challenge unless we make the playoffs. Good thing for my goals is a lot of temptation will be removed and I'll have time to train. Make one of these runs outside when possible. Non-game days only, game days give me at least 10,000 steps and at least 20 flights of stairs 4 gamedays, 2 gym days, 1 rest day...done 2. Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 6/7 days, better at sticking to the plan and the scale is reflecting that again 3. Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. Done, 2 days off where I did all kinds of 'me' stuff and one evening before games started that I went to the paramour's house It's been a busy week with getting the preliminary stuff done for end of season...next Friday starts the last homestand of the season...we're 4 games out of first place and 6 out overall so while it's still possible, it's still anyone's guess if we'll make playoffs. I actually have the whole weekend off this week! Done, 2 days that I went to the paramour's house, one spent watching TV and crocheting, and today...where I'm catching up on here, crocheting, reading, and doing a lot of nothing because it's raining and I'm feeling like a pretzel So proud of D, she''s been talking to someone online that she's arranged to meet tomorrow...really a step outside of her comfort zone. Three interval runs, and one strength training a week. Make one of these runs outside when possible. Non-game days only, game days give me at least 10,000 steps and at least 20 flights of stairs 2 game day, 2 interval days, 1 strength training 2. Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 7/7 days! 3. Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. 4 days, one evening with the gf/bf, couple nights crocheting and watching TV, one day all to myself that i became one with my couch D continues to surprise me...stated that she wonders if her actions when getting into a relationship have more to do with NRE, I guess she has been reading the books I shared there are now two that seem to be heading towards serious in her life. I'm talking to three other people who could potentially be something, and have a 'coffee date' with a girl I had very interesting conversations with at Pagan Pride last year and three years ago Training my assistant to do the reports is going very well...it's tough for me to not have anything to do during that time! One more game after tonight in regular season...I'm feeling some kinda way about that... Managed to get 3 days last week, 1 mani-pedi appointment, 1 dinner with a friend, 1 evening with the paramours Off season is now official! We didn't make the playoffs which is disappointing but we got close which is amazing considering how badly we sucked the first half of the season. Started 10k training yesterday, the training schedule I'm following worked out perfectly with the timing of the 10k I signed up for and the end of season For those watching the storm...yes it will pass by us, probably sometime tomorrow afternoon. I'm as safe and prepared as I can be, and thankful I'm in a house for this one!
