Return of the Grey Jedi

I'm HOME!!!!!

But for real, guys. I've missed you so much. If you haven't seen my recent battle log, you won't know that I've been battling with such darkness - both internally and externally. Grey Jedi are about balance, and there was absolutely none to be found. But after some therapy, some time, some meds, and a lot of love and support, I'm getting my balance back again.

 

After a really frustrating doctor's appointment, I was sent to a nutritionist appointment that I couldn't afford. I've had a lot of serious weight gain, and it's getting to a point where it's REALLY not good. Mr. Right and I are trying to be healthier together - and that makes it a lot easier! This challenge is going to be me transitioning our RL goals on here for extra accountability. 

 

And now, on to GOALS!

 

#1 - No more than 1 time of eating out at a restaurant each week

 

McDonalds is actually a Sith enterprise, I'm fairly sure. We've been eating out waaaaaaaay too often. It's a waste of money and it's bad for us! So we're working on cooking at home and using fresh fruits, veggies, and meats to do so. Our 3 hour grocery run the other day definitely helped!

 

#2 - Some form of movement 2.5 hrs each week

 

Both Mr. Right and myself are major couch potatoes. It doesn't help that I work a computer-based job from home... so we need to get moving! Doc told me 2.5 hours a week at least, so that'll be my goal this challenge. I've got access to a gym with classes, and I've got access to parks and other outdoor areas. No excuses!

 

#3 - Log Food

 

Just going to log my food here every day. Knowing that I'm going to be posting my log on a public forum reminds me to think twice about my choices so I know I'm making the ones that are best for my body!

August 1

Siggis yogurt and nature valley granola

Probiotic coffee with 2 tsp organic cane sugar and creamer

2 sausages, one with veggies and cheesy corn casserole

2.5 rolls (O’Charleys)

French dip with bacon smashed potatoes (O’Charleys)

Pecan pie (O’Charleys)

 

Thoughts:

  • Siggis yogurt is less delicious than expected
  • Went out to dinner with friend who was moving out of state, restaurant name in parenthesis

Tortilla chips

 

Thoughts

  • Was trying to finish the alfredo before it went bad lol
  • felt great about today until I got into the tortilla chips - even with the cupcakes (I was hungry so eating when I'm hungry should be encouraged)
  • Overall not bad, I haven't done a mini-binge like that in AGES. It's a good start

It's about $9 for a box of 10 kcups, but I use Ibotta and get a $2-3 rebate. They also have a probiotic tea blend ^_^

Notes

  • Took our friends out to dinner last night because they've made such an impact on our lives
  • Tried to make healthy yet delicious choices at the restaurant
  • Definitely ended up hungry a few hours later and ended up eating a handful of cold leftover tater tots and two PB cookies made by my MIL

Notes

  • The blue dye in the cupcake frosting WRECKED me 
  • I was awake for like 19 hours so that 3rd meal was necessary
  • Also getting sick so that will probably mess with my food intake
  • Can definitely feel different clothing of mine fitting slightly differently after tracking food for around a month now

Y'ALL. I CAN NOW COOK RICE. HOLY CRAP.

 

I just made perfect rice for the first time EVER. HOLY CRAP.

 

I used my new-to-me rice cooker and it literally created the most delicious, fluffy, steamy rice possible. Mine is ALWAYS either over or under done. I'm never able to make it work. But I did it this time and I'm so proud of myself :)

 

Also, I steamed fresh broccoli to perfection without creating mush

Lol so I woke up feeling less pain in my throat yesterday after sleeping SUPER late. My body decided to tell me yesterday that I hadn't eaten NEARLY enough the previous days, and I ate sooooo much food. But I'm not mad, I was hungry when I ate. I'm a little bit sad at myself for getting pizza but my body wasn't having any of that whole fresh fruits and veggies thing last night, I needed CARBS and lots of them. So yeah that's me.

Finished the pizza I bought (and shared with Mr. Right). And we went grocery shopping yesterday so we have healthy snacks and healthy lunches again. We're definitely spending more on groceries, but we're eating out less and eating at home a LOT more so as long as we're not wasting food (something else we're improving on) I'm not mad about it at all!

It's definitely kind of a tradeoff, especially making sure you eat everything you buy!! (SO hard!!  Especially with veggies for me!!)  I'm glad your fooding is slowly shifting into something more productive for you both!  The convenience of eating out always gets me and it's always something I need to work on... ><

That was our problem. And we both went through some very serious depression episodes which killed all motivation to do anything we didn't have to do. But in just the past couple of weeks we've decreased our random going out to eat significantly! And between that and focusing on swapping to fresh things, I have definitely noticed my clothes fitting a little bit differently! In a good way finally ^_^

So my parents decided to feed us >_> But yesterday, like many previous, is a lot better than last month ^_^ Small steps. 

 

Today I did yard work, which I count as exercise because my whole body aches >_> I didn't make my goal of 2 hours this week, but I did do some and that's a great place to be for now. Progress not perfection.

 

And for anyone wanting to know what Italian naan is - take a large Naan bread, spread pesto on it, take some shredded chicken seasoned with garlic powder and italian seasoning(tbh I used canned...) and put that on top, add some fresh spinach and some mozzarella cheese (I used shredded b/c fresh doesn't agree with me). Stick that sucker in the oven until the cheese melts, and then enjoy!! 


I made it myself. It's delicious.

Giiiiirl AIN'T THIS THE TRUTH.  If I'm in the pit I just. Don't. Wanna.  Like just doing the basics is enough, lemme order pizza and sleep in the box and call it a day.  So much hinges on our mental health...

Ugh just had 2 whammies on me in a row... First of all, yesterday was a rough day and I reacted with my common stress reaction for the first time in a while.... I refused to let myself eat and then I was so hungry that I felt horribly sick and then I stress ate. Worst part is that I definitely didn't eat enough because my reflux was acting up last night. Lemme tell you, it's scary to feel like you're drowning in your own stomach acid. So despite an early night, I slept like actual crap.

 

Second whammy... yesterday I bought a pair of high waisted dark wash jeans on sale from Old Navy and I bought them in the size that I have Old Navy jeans (that I thought were the same style??) in - an 18. Buying jeans in that size was hard enough the first time. But I handled it. Unfortunately, I bought mine, tried them on... and they're too small. It really hit my self esteem pretty badly on top of what my brain translates as "bad eating" last night. Such a mess.

 

Oh also my nice organic cane sugar didn't end up as closed as I thought and the ants got into it. So yet another item to throw away. I'm not buying more, it's too expensive to lose to ants. Plain sugar is perfectly fine.

I have actively been in this situation with Old Navy shorts within the past year and GIRL IT SUCKS HUH????  I'm like... really.... I think it was worse because I was feeling like my clothes were fitting better ;__;

 

But I'm just going to keep on trucking and keep working on myself. I'm eating more fresh fruits and veggies, and I'm SO much more mindful about what I'm eating and that's a win in my book.
