Yes! We've quickly learnt to just skip entrees altogether at American restaurants. Also since the mega French toast we've made a habit of just getting a cup of fruit from the supermarket for breakfasts.

Also, thanks again to @Tateman for the heads up about smoking in casinos; I had my inhaler ready last night and I sure needed it!

Yup. Don't be surprised if you have a bit of a sore throat the next day or so. At least that seems to usually happen to me haha.

Had to get weighed yesterday so we could go up in a helicopter. Had to do some maths to translate pounds to kilos and estimate and subtract the weight of my backpack but I think the result is I haven't gained anything in the last couple of weeks. I guess all the desserts and full sugar drinks have been balanced out by all the walking we've been doing!

How's the knee treating you?

It's been great! I think the 24 hours spent sitting still on various buses, planes and in airports to get here helped a lot. The current battle is with dehydration. I'm not liking the tap water here in Vegas and I don't want to spend all my money on bottles so I haven't been having as much water as I should. But we're heading back to California today so I'll do better from now on.

We went to the grand canyon for the first time this year, and also did the helicopter thing.  I have to say it was more impressive than I expected :) Did you guys fly directly from Vegas or did you take a shuttle and then fly from closer to the canyon?

The Grand Canyon was epic! We originally wanted to spend a couple of days there but it turns out if you want to do that you need to go from Flagstaff, which would require rewriting the rest of our trip so we had to settle for a bus ride from Vegas and four hours at the West Rim.

But they didn't warn us it would take over 90 minutes just to get on the darn helicopter, which really cut into our time. The ride was amazing, it took us down to the bottom of the canyon and we had a lovely little boat ride up and down the Colorado before flying up again. It was great, but then we only had 15 minutes left to spend at the surface enjoying the views from the top. We didn't even have time to grab lunch.

So the Grand Canyon is definitely a worthy bucket list item, but if there's a next time we're going to make sure we can actually spend some time there!

It's our last day in America and to be honest I think the walking is no longer offsetting the Treat Yo' Self attitude. But that's fine, I'll deal with it in the next challenge.

Next stop is Fiji for a few days, and a wedding for a pair of my friends. I had a choice of two dresses to bring, and I'm glad I picked the more loose-fitting one!

It's finally time to go home! Things I'm looking forward to most:

1) Puppy cuddles

2) Home cooking

3) Long weekend

I've decided I'm going to not worry so much about getting back to work with fitness until the next challenge. The next couple of weeks are going to be pretty cruisy anyway, and it's going to take a little while to get back in the groove of normal non-holiday life.

Sounds like it was a most excellent trip.

I also did not like the water in Vegas all that much from what I recall. Some places are better then others though.

It was amazing! It's very nice to be home, though. It's funny the stuff you take for granted, but I'm really glad the tap water here at home is so yummy.

Stepped on the scales this morning for the first time in weeks and I'm still below 75kg, which was a pleasant surprise. I guess I got away with a lot of bad behaviour the last few weeks ;)

It's back to work day and I've decided to just start a mini challenge to help get me back into the swing of things. Also I'm not feeling 100 pet cent at the moment and I'm not sure whether it's just allergies and dehydration or if I'm actually coming down with something. Also there's a few things that I really need to do soon so they can go here too so I'll remember.

Mini Goals:

1) Drink more water

At least a bottle a day, which is not enough but better than none at all

2) Sleep in bed, not on the couch

The last few nights I keep nodding off watching TV, I need to embrace the tiredness and go straight to bed

To Do List:

1) Get the car serviced

2) Get the wedding dress cleaned and preserved

3) Write out all the thank you cards

4) Look up the process to change my name

Tuesday went well, I had my bottle of water and remembered to go to bed before I nodded off. I also booked my car in for a service and emailed HR about changing my name at work.

Today I'm off sick and my car's in the shop so there's not much I can do. Gonna take it easy and hope I'm back on top tomorrow!

Are you feeling better now?

And nothing wrong with planning! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Not much :( I've had this headache for a week now and nothing tastes good. Plus I haven't had energy for walking the puppy, so he's a bit hyper at the moment! I guess I'm just waiting for the headache to clear up.

So there was no chance of any proper challenge-type stuff this week, and the next two weeks are going to be crazy at work. So the next challenge seems like a sensible respawn point! The thing is, I rejoined NerdFitness with the goal of losing some weight before the wedding, so now I'm just like, "Now what??" So I'm taking some time to think hard about where I want to go from here, and find my new motivation :D:D

That's pretty cool though they you hit your goal and are ready to work on a new thing. Is there a sport you've wanted to try?

Well step one will be to get back to where I was before the wedding, because I've been seriously slack since then. Can't remember the last time I went for a run or did any exercise, and I haven't been eating all that carefully either. Plus just generally I'd like to slim down a bit further and be fitter anyway, but it was really helpful having a set goal/deadline so I'll try to come up with another one.

I'm not all that into sport but I would like to get back into jogging again...

WHICH REMINDS ME!!

I totally forgot to mention that my puppy had his last chemo treatment a few weeks ago and is officially in remission! My running buddy being unwell and also the lousy winter really slowed me down (ha!) in the last six months, but now both of those things are over so we can get back into running together again! As soon as I can shake this darn cold, that is...

Here's a happy lymphoma-free Frankie for your enjoyment:

Well sounds like you have a good idea of what your next challenge will be.

As always, the trick will be actually following through with all those plans ;)

Managed to hit my two goals each day this week. It's kinda nice having a low bar at the moment!

This week I'm going to add an extra goal: track my spending. This is going to be a part of the next challenge but I figured I'll make a head start to get into the habit of writing stuff down. I have an app that's quite good but for now I'll use the ol' pen and paper method since it's much more customisable.

Oops, sort of forgot about this! I did get my car serviced, and I looked up a dry cleaner but I haven't rung them yet. Forgot all about thank you cards, which is a shame because I could've handed some out at dinner on Saturday. I looked up the name change thing with a couple of government agencies and they all have different methods, which is a pain when I'll have to do them all individually. So that'll be a problem for future me.

On the other hand, there were some positives on the weekend. Bought myself a rice cooker, which is quite exciting! I made a big batch of curry for my lunches this week, so that'll save me going to the nasty cafeteria all the time.

Also on a whim this morning I grabbed some old work pants out of the closet and they fit me! I wonder what else is in there that I've banished for being too small but might fit again.
