Supplements

None. I'm sorry, but supplements don't help us lose weight long term. If you want to lose weight, you've got to get nutrition in line.

Yeah, the best supplement I can think of is a decent multivitamin to help that nutritional base and give the body enough nutrients to rebuild itself after the stress of training, and even those aren't totally proven effective versus getting vitamins and minerals from food.

There are plenty of illegal substances that will speed up fat loss - so long as you're ok with the horrific lifelong side effects (heart/liver/kidney disease, erectile disfunction, hair in weird places or losing hair in other places, mood swings, etc.). You could try going the legit pharmaceutical route, if your doctor believes it's a good option for you (usually involves drugs that inhibit fat absorption, with fun side effects like anal leakage ;)).

But the long and short of it is this: eat fruit/veggies & protein, consume fewer calories than you burn, and get into the gym on a regular basis for some resistance training & basic cardio work.

If you MUST supplement: try a cup of coffee and some creatine (5g/day usually) before your workout (which will not help you lose weight, but will help your performance in the gym).
