A few days following the start of this new challenge will mark the date I entered this world....50 years ago...

Not too bad for an old lady if I do say so myself...

Recap from prior challenges this year below

Quote

It's no secret I'm not a patient person. One of the hardest things for me to deal with is I didn't get this way overnight, and I can't fix it overnight. Fixing it takes consistency, building habits that will last, not just get me to the goal and then going back to what I was doing and losing all progress made. I've learned a whole lot about what DOESN'T work for me lately, I've also learned that I can't abuse my body the way I used to when I was younger, recovery takes too damn long now!

I've been following a couple podcasts, one is Not Your Average Runner, the other is Phit-N-Phat, NYAR talks about running at any size and age, realistically. She also stresses the importance of not quitting on yourself, habit rather than motivation, and other types of good stuff. Phit-N-Phat is a woman that lost over 100 lbs and kept it off 24 hours at a time. She's where I stole the line "I didn't die or get pregnant" from. She talks about being realistic, making a 24 hour plan and sticking to it, (if you're going to have 12 hershey's kisses for breakfast, put it on your plan! LOL) and a lot of don't follow a diet unless that's how you're really going to eat...make it sustainable. If you want to eat Paleo or Keto for the rest of your life, fine, but don't do it to get to a goal weight and then go back. Pay attention to how you feel, are you really hungry? Are you bored? Are you eating your feelings? A lot of other good stuff from her too but I'd be here all day and I do have to work at some point ;)

I've lost a lot this year, a lot has changed for me...if you had asked me before where I would be at this point in my life it would damn sure not be here!

My marriage is essentially "married companions" we love each other but more than that is not happening in the foreseeable future...we do enjoy each others company and we are a 'safe space' for the other. I used to think I was interested in dating, but right now I find I'm more interested in working on me...I have a tendency to lose myself in relationships, and I'm a pretty awesome individual that doesn't need to go anywhere just because I'm with someone...so this is going to be about 'finding' and keeping me!

I had a goal of losing 50 lbs by my 50th birthday...I got halfway there...I'm re-committing myself to losing the rest, and working on losing the excess rolls that seem to not want to go anywhere! I want to not jiggle when I move and try to get rid of this 'hip dip' thing that I've had most of my life...wish me luck

I also had a goal of running a 5k entirely and completing a 10k, neither one of those happened either but I did set a new PR for my 5k...the 10k should be done by the end of the year and I have a goal to train for a 15k in March. I'm okay if I never completely run any of them, I run intervals and that's more than I ever did before!

The Plan....

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days)

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full.

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to!

ommit: (yes I know, spelling, but work with me here) anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to 'ommit' some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated!

I have a goal of completing 10 items on my bucket list between now and my next birthday, hopefully by my next challenge the following will be completed:

Get Passport

Visit Key West

Go Parasailing

Go Snorkeling (I was going to say scuba diving but I'm claustrophobic so we'll see how snorkeling goes first)

Get my motorcycle license (again...been 30 years since I had it)

That's one a week...should be a good start!

On with the show!

Disclaimer, I'm a kinky lesbian in an open relationship. My threads used to have a tendency to get rather interesting (it's been years but I can hope it happens again ) and I have had people unsubscribe because of that...

I'm 47 myself so I'm totally agreeing that 50 is NOT old.

old is well, old- and if you are working towards your youth- you're young.

I like your continuing goals and your bucket list.

I completely agree that 50 is not old. I'm in better shape now than I was seven years ago when I turned 50. My life and relationships are in a better place as well.

The one big change was that I decided that "later" had arrived. Anything I was saving to use "later" was up for re-evaluation. If I don't want to wear that or work on that project NOW, out it goes. I still don't have enough time, so wanting to use stuff counts for me. I have a stash and am having fun spinning fiber I bought years ago. My loom is still in the garage, but I want to weave. I hope I'm getting better about how I choose to use my time.

Looks great! Here to help you celebrate your birthday :-)

Thank you!!

I just realized that next week is week 1, and I will be out of town for most of it <_<

Not that it's bad, but I think I'm taking a bye week for that....I've been good for zero week, we'll count that instead

o.O you are so beautiful!! You make 50 look good. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I love your goals for the challenge, and the goals for the year. I always like to set goals for my birthday, or reaffirming my New Years goals, since my birthday is only about a month after new years, haha.

Thank you! I always tend to be very introspective around my birthday, even more so than New Years (and my oldest child was born on January 29th, not sure how close that is to yours)

Welcome!

I did! :)

The Plan....

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) 7/7 since I am starting this week...lots of movement happened this week though!

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. No plan done but I made smart choices (except the mimosa before parasailing and snorkeling)

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! 7/7 for certain!

ommit: (yes I know, spelling, but work with me here) anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to 'ommit' some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated! some of this is tougher than I thought...

Bucket List Stuff:

Get Passport

Visit Key West

Go Parasailing

Go Snorkeling (I was going to say scuba diving but I'm claustrophobic so we'll see how snorkeling goes first)

Get my motorcycle license (again...been 30 years since I had it)

So yes, the trip to the Keys was amazing, not everything went the way I hopped but that's life...parasailing I'm convinced is something everyone should do, I got to fly!! :D Snorkeling was incredible but next time I know not to have a mimosa for breakfast...breakfast was not as good coming back up.

The trip to Anna Maria Island was relaxing and I enjoyed spending time with great friends on my birthday...just one thing missing...yes it was D

Just realized I'd never put what my plans were for my birthday week

and we just booked a cruise for my next birthday...now she say's she wants to do my 50th over again (and pretty much this year) and I'm so confused :bi_polo:

Almost forgot this week! I've been working on websites, updating mine and building a new one for D, and other crafty people we know...I will have stuff on there as well. I forgot how much I enjoy building websites.

Okay, on with

The Plan....

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) 4/7 sleep was elusive until this weekend (which is weird) so I didn't get up...work stress I think caught up to me

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 7/7, felt good to get back to normal

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! 5/7 my granddaughters blanket is coming along nicely :D

ommit: (yes I know, spelling, but work with me here) anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to 'ommit' some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated! Spent some time this weekend seeing exactly when things would be paid off, also reworking some finances since I discovered we're not getting bonuses this year...which really throws a wrench into a lot of plans I had made, hopefully the raise is really good this year or a lot may be different next year

I think the audit items are completed, almost done with month end stuff...budget meetings are the next two days so my boss will be out of town (I'm not part of those) went for a bike ride on the trail I'd been wanting to check out for my outdoor runs today. I have to say it was really nice to get out and do that, the trail is just what I've been looking for :) was a good day

This sounds like an absolutely amazing trip o.O I have never tried parasailing or snorkeling or a trip to an island. I sounds like such an adventure.

Yay for having a great birthday trip!

Sorry about the confusing stuff with D. It sounds like most of that problem is on her end. I hope it comes out to a resolution that works for you.

Excellent progress on running and making a baby blanket!

It was amazing...and I'd never done anything like that either, which is why I'm very glad I got to experience it!

Thank you my friend...don't think I've completed a baby blanket since I was pregnant with mine :o

The Plan....Week 3

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) 4/7 counting the 2 rest days on the plan, last Sundays bike ride and yesterdays walk...no real excuse except I let my inner mean girl talk me out of getting up and working out...Re-committing to this next (this?) week!

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 7/7, few times I almost let myself go too long, I've noticed a tendency to overdo when I'm really hungry

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! 5/7, work on the baby blanket and having D out of town for work this week contributed to this more than I wanted

I had an unexpected reduction in the number on the scale this week, I didn't do anything different except go back to sleep instead of the gym and lost 2 lbs. I'll take it

Sometimes you need sleep more than anything else. That convinces your body you can relax and don't need the extra fat stores to keep going all the time. :)

The Plan....Week 4

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) 7/7 counting the 2 rest days on the plan, I didn't get up Saturday and go run because my brother in law was visiting (he's a truck driver) but we did have movie night so I ran around the ballpark

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 7/7, nice how this is becoming a habit

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! 3/3, Annalynn's blanket is coming right along

Was a slow week at work, and my assistant was on vacation...not a whole lot to report on that front. Lots of holiday activity this week coming up but I'm planning on gym time and not overdoing it for my minimum holiday baseline. Anything more will be gravy, pun intended.
