I’m back again :smile-new: 

I was originally thinking of skipping this challenge but then I though screw it, I’ll do the challenge!

Food/sugar is currently my biggest problem at the moment and I’ve dedicated two quest to it to try to help that issue.

 

The Challenge:



Nutrition Quests

  • No two in a row sugary snacks & deserts – Because I have an issue with eating too many sugary foods (usually chocolate) I will be implementing the no two in a row rule and hopefully in the future I can make that rule last longer:
    • I will not eat sugary snacks &/or deserts two days in a row.
  • Limit the amount of sugary snacks & deserts – By having a clear and cut size rule that I can stick to and not a generalised don’t overdo it:
    • Baked goods (biscuits & cakes) = No more than the size of my palm.
    • Packaged goods (chocolates & lollies) = No more than half the size of my palm.

 

Fitness Quests

  • Yoga – Apparently exercise is good and my last challenge was to yoga once a week so now I’m upping that to twice a week to get momentum going, with access to printed routines, apps, YouTube videos & classes there are no excuses:
    • 2 days a week at the minimum.

 

Level Up Your Life Quests

  • Meditation – I didn’t succeed with this last time so I am at it again and will succeed this time, plus I really need to do this for my mental & physical health:
    • 3 days a week using my Calm app.
    • Minimum of 2 minutes required.

 

I’ll be posting on a weekly basis as that’s easier for me to stick to that daily.

Thanks, Yes the sugar dragon has won most battles so far but that will change.

While this is not one of my quest I'm trying to be more active/social here, I am socially awkward and sometimes it's easier to press like as I'm not sure how to respond to people... but I will try to make more of an effort.

I’d say you’re in the exact perfect place to be if you’re socially awkward. A huge hunk of us are, too - and if you’ve only got a like, emoji or gif at that moment - that’s fine too - all are seen and appreciated.

I hear you on this. A lot of the time I lean very heavily on the like button because I just can't make my words work properly or I just plain don't have enough social mana to actually say something. But I know how happy I get when I see someone's liked something I've said, and I imagine it's much the same for a lot of us around here. We all get it, one way or another, and every interaction, be it like or comment, is appreciated.

Week 1 Update 

I had a stressful start to the week due to my mother in law being crazy again, this time about christmas, and some how managed to not eat any/all of the chocolate and candy in the house even know it's all I thought about, but on Wednesday that failed me hard and Thursday was the last stressful day before it was all resolved and I couldn't not eat candy on Halloween night (Thursday night).

 

My quest to 'Limit the amount of sugary snacks & deserts' and to 'No two in a row' for someone who is also currently very addicted to sugary foods it's way too ambitious to try for both at once, while I'll still try I'm pretty sure I'm going to massively fail the 'Limit the amount of sugary snacks & deserts' one on any day I do eat something sugary. 

 

I was slack when it came to both the Yoga & Meditation even know I could have really used it this week... oops. But I did do a breathing meditation on Wednesday, and today Sunday I did Day 5 of the 7 Days of Calm 'The value of non-doing' & completed a Yoga routine I found on pinterest to help spine & neck issues. 

But I've got to say after doing the Yoga routine and full Meditation today I now feel a smile on my face and I'm so glad I did them.

That's still a win. Regardless of what happened in the following days, avoiding the chocolate and other sugary food when you're stressed is a difficult thing to do, and you did it :) It's little steps like that that help break the cycle once and for all.

Week 2 Update

 

I'm happy with my no 2 sugar days in a row quest this week as over all it worked out. 

 

The amount of sugar quest was still a fail on the days I ate sugar but that will be a challenge to do later down the track. 

 

I don't know where my head was with the Yoga and Meditation quest... I need to push myself more but I did go camping on the weekend which was mostly relaxing.

Week 3 Update 

 

I am creating a Meal Planner based on a design I found which had a rotating 6 week worth of dinner plans, but changing it to suit me, as we tend to decide what we are having for dinner daily after work and the conversation usually goes 'what do you want?' 'I don't know, what do you want' etc. But if I can look at a sheet and say this when we can't think of something, then we'd be set and maybe not need to do a quick shop every day to. 

 

On Monday I almost didn't overdo the sugar until my husband brought home chocolate biscuits... oh well. 

 

Friday - I'm feeling overwhelmed, it was sparked by a busy day at work but overflowed into my personal life:
My health is better but still sucks, and feels like an expensive uphill battle. 
My house needs some real work I need to put more/any effort into keeping it nice and clean. 
My workout game is non-extant.
Too many emails always coming into my personal emails. 
My money goals are going nowhere. 
And stuff/things in general. 
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I also don't want to spend/waste all my time on the above either...
I have just found out my cortisol is low, my thyroid is high, my iron is low and I'm also low in a few different vitamins to, maybe when/if this gets fixed I might have energy for things... And then I ate sugar when I got home ☹

 

Saturday - I'm feeling better than I did yesterday but I do need to get my s#*t together though. 
I'm creating a my level 50 list so I can try to get there one day. 

 

Sunday - Winston and Hank got their photo with Santa today pictured below. 

 

I haven't done that great with sugar this week but I'll keep trying. 
I met my Yoga goal this week Yeay! 
I got close to my Meditation goal this week so kinda Yeay.

Hopefully the meal planning works for you. I started doing something similar a little while back, but just a week at a time. It's already made a massive difference in how I eat. And I'm glad thing are looking up for you after the downswing on Friday. Days like that are horrible, fighting through them is so draining. But we get through, and then we make things better, like you getting your yoga goal and getting so close to your meditation goal :) 

 

Also, your dogs are adorable!

Week 4 Update 

 

For my Nutrition Quest I new I couldn't complete both so I choose to follow 'No two days in a row sugary snacks & deserts' over 'Limit the amount of sugary snacks & deserts per day' and I'm thinking I took the wrong path because I have a habit of overdoing it and if I end up eating way too much I'm still in the same position, so I'm now going to try and follow 'Limit the amount of sugary snacks & deserts per day' over  'No two days in a row sugary snacks & deserts'

 

I started good with sugar but didn't end too well 🤐 

 

Didn't hit my Yoga goal

 

But I did reach my Meditation goal, Yeay! 😁

Week 5 Update so far

 

Monday - it's only Monday and I'm already too tired to function, I need more sleep... But no sugar today wooo!

 

Wednesday - I eat an after work snack every work day and usually overdo it but today I actually felt like I wasn't hungry enough for an after work snack but I also had a want/need for a snack still, it's become a bad habit especially since I already also eat a morning and afternoon snack at work to.

I did eat sugar today but not too much woo!

 

Thursday - it was cooler this morning than it has been so I was able to do a longer walk to get to work today 😁

Week 5 Update ...

 

Friday - 
Had a nice morning walk even know part way through the sun came out with a vengeance. 

 

Saturday - 
Heading out to see some bands today so I'll be on my feet moving to the music today, here's hoping I won't get burnt as it's outside. 
I was able to see the main bands I wanted to see but had to leave early because I became unwell (upper chest tightness & pain, jaw tightness & pain, lightheaded, my head felt scrambled & my brain felt half asleep, I got a touch queasy & very sleepy) I have no idea what happened or what was wrong but I went home and rested.

 

Sunday - 
I still don't feel well my head feels tight and I got queasy but an afternoon snack helped with that and I was sleepy. I wasn't even going to attempt to do any yoga but I did have to go the shops so I reluctantly got some walking done.

My Challenge Breakdown: We are done another challenge 🤪 

 

No two in a row sugary snacks & deserts - 26/35 - 74%

Limit the amount of sugary snacks & deserts - 20/35 - 57%

Yoga - 4/10 - 40%

Meditation - 10/15 - 67%

 

No two in a row sugary snacks & deserts -

While this went kinda well as per the numbers but I did over eat the sugary foods on my sugar days...

 

Limit the amount of sugary snacks & deserts -

Got over half way woooooooo, but started doing better towards the end of the challenge for this one. 

 

Yoga - 

I needed to do better on this one but opps.

 

Meditation - 

I need to make more effort but I still past halfway.
