Goals are the same as last time, plus doing the Doodlies challenge:

  • Sleep - a classic. I want to be in bed by 11pm every most nights (let's be realistic)

  • Gym - go to the gym. Lift some things. Go three times a week, switch over to Starting Strength so I can get back to my barbells <3

  • Running - Keep doing my physio-approved 1 min on/1 min off attempts at running. Build back up to running properly if my foot cooperates

  • Physio - do my physio stretching/exercises 3-4 times per week

I'll post an update on the last week and a half today or tomorrow!

So last week I don't think I met any of my goals except maybe doing physio once and going to bed at 11pm once. This week I went to the gym on Wednesday and also ran, and have done my physio once. I've also done yoga 3x in the last 2 weeks (but that's not a goal) - I can now reach my back foot in King Pigeon and the twisted version of Dragon pose

King Pigeon - I'm somewhere around step 3-4 of this when I do it, can't hook my foot in my elbow yet!

Had a busy weekend, but had a lot of fun. I went to bed at 10pm on Sunday, who am I?! Yesterday I had yoga after work, and had a late night, and this morning I got up and went to the gym and did weights and my phsyio-approved running and phsyio-mandated exercises. Tonight I need to get a bit of work done on an assignment for an intro to business analysis class that I'm taking and then I'm going to bed!

So the last time I posted was a week ago, I've continued to be busy since then! We got a bit of snow last week, although it's warmed up enough that the snow has melted (it's been sitting just above freezing the last few days). But I took that as my cue to get my balcony furniture put away for the winter, so that happened last week over the course of a couple mornings/evenings before and after work (because of the snow I had to bring things inside in stages to dry off and then get put away). Besides that there's been the usual life-maintenance stuff of vacuuming and laundry and cleaning and all that nonsense to do.

I also bought yarn for a baby blanket for my best friend. I'm making the Purl Soho Colourful Wedges pattern with cotton (Cascade Ultra Pima), since it'll be a spring baby and I thought that a lighter blanket would transition into summer better. I'm doing a gradient from black to light blue for the wedges. I had been thinking about doing the gradient with green since that's my friend's favourite colour, but the shades of green available in the yarn I wanted to use didn't lend themselves to a nice gradient. I have to finish up the i-cord bind off on my Shift to free up that needle, and then I'm starting the blanket right away - I don't know when the baby shower will be, but definitely before the baby arrives so I'm on an indeterminate-but-probably-shorter-than-I-want-to-believe timeline.

Part of the reason I've been busy lately is because I'm taking a 'Foundations of Business Analysis' class. It's one evening a week (3 hours, eww), plus readings and assignments, so it's been a bit of a time suck, especially since the instructor isn't super clear on what he wants from the assignments, so we (various combinations of me, 2 coworkers who are taking it, assignment partners, etc) have been having to spend a whole bunch of time parsing the various things he's said in class and figuring out how we're going to approach things. It would be nice if the assignments were clearer, because once we figured out what we were supposed to be doing with them they haven't been too hard to actually do.

So pretty! Post a pic when it's finished? I'm a sucker for baby blankets.

Well done on week 3 - particularly getting your physio in, I know that can be a challenge to add to a busy schedule!

I've also just realised from your last post that it's week 4. I thought it was week 3. I feel like I've lost a week of my life somehow...

Overall I'd say this challenge went well. I've been getting back to lifting and my foot is behaving itself with amping up my running a bit. I've also been doing a lot more walking lately which might be helping with my general foot/ankle strength, who knows. The class that I'm taking finishes tomorrow, and I can't say I'm going to miss having my Wednesday nights eaten up by class and having to do readings and homework! I think I'm going to keep the same goals for the next challenge, and focus on lifting heavy and building strength for the next 6 weeks or so, and then switch over to a more sports-specific program (and that'll give me time to go through the programs I've collected over the years and decide which one I want to do!)
