Because IVY is at the head of all of my challenges...she reminds me that I am a strong woman and I can do whatever I set my mind to!

Quote

It's no secret I'm not a patient person. One of the hardest things for me to deal with is I didn't get this way overnight, and I can't fix it overnight. Fixing it takes consistency, building habits that will last, not just get me to the goal and then going back to what I was doing and losing all progress made. I've learned a whole lot about what DOESN'T work for me lately, I've also learned that I can't abuse my body the way I used to when I was younger, recovery takes too damn long now!

I've been following a couple podcasts, one is Not Your Average Runner, the other is Phit-N-Phat, NYAR talks about running at any size and age, realistically. She also stresses the importance of not quitting on yourself, habit rather than motivation, and other types of good stuff. Phit-N-Phat is a woman that lost over 100 lbs and kept it off 24 hours at a time. She's where I stole the line "I didn't die or get pregnant" from. She talks about being realistic, making a 24 hour plan and sticking to it, (if you're going to have 12 hershey's kisses for breakfast, put it on your plan! LOL) and a lot of don't follow a diet unless that's how you're really going to eat...make it sustainable. If you want to eat Paleo or Keto for the rest of your life, fine, but don't do it to get to a goal weight and then go back. Pay attention to how you feel, are you really hungry? Are you bored? Are you eating your feelings? A lot of other good stuff from her too but I'd be here all day and I do have to work at some point ;)

I've lost a lot this year, a lot has changed for me...if you had asked me before where I would be at this point in my life it would damn sure not be here! My marriage is essentially "married companions" we love each other but more than that is not happening in the foreseeable future...we do enjoy each others company and we are a 'safe space' for the other. I used to think I was interested in dating, but right now I find I'm more interested in working on me...I have a tendency to lose myself in relationships, and I'm a pretty awesome individual that doesn't need to go anywhere just because I'm with someone...so this is going to be about 'finding' and keeping me!

I had a goal of losing 50 lbs by my 50th birthday...I got halfway there...I'm re-committing myself to losing the rest, and working on losing the excess rolls that seem to not want to go anywhere! I want to not jiggle when I move and try to get rid of this 'hip dip' thing that I've had most of my life...wish me luck

Nothing surprising here folks...Pretty much the same challenge as the rest of the year has been. I may change it up some after the new year but probably not much, since I lost 25 lbs this year doing it this way it's working for me...

The Plan....

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days)

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full.

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to!

ommit: (yes I know, spelling, but work with me here) anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to 'ommit' some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated!

I am curious, what is a 24 hour plan for eating? Is that planning out your food 24 hours in advance or eating based around certain times of day, or...?

The cliff notes version is you plan out what you're going to eat for the day, realistically...if you want 12 hershey's kisses for breakfast then put it on your plan. From there when you get hungry, you eat what you have planned...if there are donuts in the breakroom and you didn't plan them, then you don't eat them...when you are full (not stuffed, enough to make it a few hours till your next meal) you stop eating.

That's it...doesn't have to be anything special, like Paleo, or Keto, if you want it to be then great. It's more about not 'grab assing' your food and eating what's convenient.

Living life as a Druid is about walking with the beasts. It's about being scared, looking your fears in the eyes and going on anyway. Dread doesn't go away, you just learn to know it. It's still a beast, it still has fangs, but you walk among it.

Ah, so it cuts out the eat-it-because-it-is-there foods. That seems pretty doable, and very helpful, especially for people in an office. I know my office always has some treat or another available.

Oh I remember when I worked in an office with a bunch of sugar addicts - there was a candy in my face every hour probably, and it was rude not to take it, because that's just how people are here. You know what happened? My stomach complained so much I couldn't keep anything down for a full 24 hours. Wound up just shuffling all the candy home in my bag, dumping it in the kitchen, or using crackers as a shield.

How is it Thursday?

Oh yeah, lots happened this last week...first we'll update this...

The Plan....

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) 6/7 Probably wouldn't have done this good if not for rest days

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 7/7

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! 4/3

ommit: (yes I know, spelling, but work with me here) anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to 'ommit' some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated! It's the holidays...we're not gonna go there right now...

So Sunday I went for a bike (motorcycle) ride with a friend...actually one of the friends I was with for my birthday. D got kind of weirded out about this and decided to pull back...from what I have no idea, she's been on another continent lately anyway. She asked to talk after a couple days about us and I honestly thought that was the end...just the opposite, she asked me to close the relationship and work on us, and has even told her 'friends' that's what we're doing...I agreed, mostly because I do love her and I really do want this to work out between us...things are far from perfect but they're better than they were...one step at a time.

I finished my granddaughters baby blanket, and am now working on another one that I started while waiting for more yarn to finish the first one...

This week has not been good on the goals front...but we'll talk about that later 😶

Sorry for the continued relationship drama with D. I'm glad to hear that things have been getting better.

Yay for finishing the baby blanket!

I agree that this is the time of year when short term pressures push aside the longer term goals. We do the best we can each day and hopefully can be gentle with ourselves about that.

Following along again.

Your relationship status actually sounds good - in that you're talking about it, you have a clear view of where things are, and can work from there to figure out what you each need. Relentless communication is the key to ending up in the right place, whatever that place looks like, together or apart.

Previous challenges: DaemonCorax doesn't go on vacation

(STR 21; DEX 3; STA 10.5; CON 8.3; WIS 15; CHA 2 - but these are SUPER out of date.)

While we have to stay away from the desert, we can always ride our bikes.

I have to say, it's a lot better than it was this time last year...here's to continued improvement!

The Plan....Week 1

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) 3/7 Wasn't feeling well, general aches and sore throat

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 5/7  Overdid it a couple days

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! 6/3 lots of rest and crocheting happened this week

ommit: (yes I know, spelling, but work with me here) anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to 'ommit' some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated! It's the holidays...we're not gonna go there right now...

The Plan....Week 2 Yes I know there is a day left...I'll catch it next week

Run: I'm following NYAR 10K training plan currently, so points for when I do what is scheduled (including rest days) 3/7 Wasn't feeling well, general aches and sore throat still

Eat: Continue making the 24 hour plan, eat on plan when hungry, stop when full. 6/7 D's bday did me in on the stop when full part

Calm: Three times a week (at least) take time for me, this can be journaling, crocheting, or time to read. This also includes excursions with friends, or anything else I want it to! 5/3 Lots of crochet again...we're on baby watch!!!

ommit: (yes I know, spelling, but work with me here) anything that does not work for or serve me...this year is about being a bit selfish. I'm also going to 'ommit' some debt this year, we'll pay off the first major expense and possibly get two eliminated! It's the holidays...we're not gonna go there right now...

Between work (we close the office for two weeks after today...so lots to get done to get ready for that) D's birthday, parties, and oh did I mention the daughter in law is at 4cm? The weather here has been crazy and really got me not feeling the greatest so workouts have taken a back seat for the time being, I've been trying to watch what I'm eating but that is tough this time of year...but I have gotten a lot of crocheting done!

My DIL told me after her appointment that the Dr said she's at a 4, I (and hopefully my Navy son) will be heading out the day after Xmas for about a week...fortunately we received a mortgage rebate that alleviated some financial stress about this trip!

Yesterday was D's birthday, we went on a golf cart tour of St Augustine for "Nights of Lights", went to dinner and then to one of my former places of employment for pie :) Tonight we have tickets for the newest Star Wars installment...can't complain, life is pretty good right now, even if not exactly the way I want it to be...
