NeverThatBored :: Intuitive Challenging

I was considering just continuing to post in my last challenge thread through the end of the year, but I'll cooperate. :P

 

I already wrote my challenge for the new year, but I don't really want to do much challenging for the next few weeks, so I think I'm just going to continue un-challenging for now. My intention is not to do nothing, but rather to try to do stuff that feels like the right stuff to do at the time. That could be relaxing and taking time to bask or it could be annoying chores. I guess you could say it's sort of like intuitive eating, but instead it's just intuitive challenging. (AKA just existing??)

 

Here are some things generally on my mind that I may or may not end up doing. 🤷‍♀️

 

  • Make an appointment with the damn shin doctor
  • Call customer service about an order I returned but didn't get the full refund for 
  • Brainstorm/research potentially starting a board game meetup closer to me 
  • Finish ordering/prepping Christmas presents
  • Do a yoga class. Weekly? - did one, might do more
  • Go see some Xmas lights  Done!
  • Learn an Xmas song on the uke 
  • Work on job stuff
  • Read some books
  • Sit outside
  • Walk
  • Experiment with a screen-free day (or at least a tv/internet browsing/video game free day)

 

Some possible guiding questions:

  • What feels good?
  • What would a healthy person do? 
  • What would a guardian do?
  • What would a person I admire do?

I really like your challenge and some of your goals are perfect for the time of year, but I really need to give this one a go!  I'm going to do this with my daughter for at least one of the days during the twilight zone between Christmas and New Year!

Intuitive Challenging Updates

 

Last night my bf and I went to the national zoo and walked around - the zoo's normally closed at night, but they have a bunch of nice Christmas light displays right now. It was nice to get out and walk around somewhere different! #ilovechristmas

 

I've been getting more walks in this week, either right after work or as a break during the day, even though it's been rainy. :) 

 

I've been feeling stiff lately, so I could really use a yoga class! Unfortunately, none of the options at the nearby studio tonight interest me (core class - blegh). I might do some here, but I really do want to go to an actual class more. 

 

I'm back to going to Crossfit in the AM this week, and GOSH it's been a rough week! I have an issue where I get dizzy when I do a lot of rapid up-down movements (burpees, wall balls, etc.) but it's on overdrive this week?? I just keep getting dizzy while I'm doing things and having to pause. It's really annoying when that's the limiting factor in my workouts - I've got the strength and my lungs are ok, but I'm just dizzy. 😕 I'm not sure why it's gotten so bad...lingering jet lag?? 

 

I've mentioned it to doctors a few times but their feeling is that there's nothing you can do about it and to just avoid getting up to fast. CK keeps urging me to push harder with the doctors to see a specialist or something about it.

Oh yes, of course I got it! I've only done the first day , then we went on vacation. But I really like it, and the set up. You learn a movement , and then you add on to the movement, and make a flow.

I can't seem to get my forum updating mojo back, so here's some random stuff since my last update:

  • I went to a yoga class with a friend from Crossfit!! It was fun, although the class began with a weird sing-a-long about chakras, so we weren't so into that part. :P 
  • I'm back in CA for the holidays 
  • I did some social stuff - Cfit holiday party and an outing to see My Fair Lady with friends
  • I'm leaning heavily towards taking the winter semester of Japanese class off, although I still have 10 more days to decide and I go back and forth 
  • I'm still working on that whole spending time outside/reading/relaxation aspect of this challenge - not there yet

I did the first session of mobius! I selected the 30 minute option but it seemed more like 15-20 to me.

 

So far I really like their new platform - the built in workout timers are exactly what I felt was missing from their previous platform.

I think I will do them daily.  I think it is set up similar to Vitamin , which is a daily program, and they seemed to vary the intensity each day. And you can choose how long you want to work on it

Me: "I'm going to focus on reading the books I have on my shelves this year!"

Also me: *places 7 new books on hold at the library* 

 

Some updates since my post last week:

  • I'm still going to Crossfit while I'm in CA, though not as often (2-3 times/week vs. 5)
  • I did squats for the squatmas challenge! It took 20 seconds of courage to ask the gym here in CA if they minded my staying to do them after a workout yesterday. :)
  • I went on a hike earlier this week and GOSH. Apparently I haven't been walking enough because the bottoms of my feet were SO TENDER afterwards. My muscles were up for the hike, but my feet sure weren't. Since the hike I've been trying to get out on more walks. My shins/calves bug me even on walks, which is really frustrating. 
  • I think I did a really good job getting Xmas presents for people this year! I got my sister an instant pot, which she didn't expect and was super excited about. I got my dad a book about drawing which he's actually been reading, and he even went to get art supplies to follow along with it. I got my mom a bunch of things because her love language is definitely gift giving and I wanted her to have lots of things to open, and she seemed really happy about it. Etc. :) 

Now I'm off to do all my end of year/ new year planning!
