Heyooooooo, i'm Maggie and i do not have a Challenge Theme yet! Not gonna lie it's probably going to involve dinosaurs though because if we're doing the Rawring 20's, we gotta have something that rawrs yeah?

Overall Goals for 2020:

Spoiler

Read through the entire Bible - Will be doing a chronological version of Bible in a Year

Be more involved at my church - via attending on Sunday Evenings and possibly Wednesdays - have to look into that - and by saying yes to as many volunteer opportunities as possible.

Go on a mission trip - my church offers several mission trip opportunities, most of which involve going places and doing practical volunteer work in communities, and some of which are basically just acting as chaperone for students/student choirs. They have some local, some out of town, out of state, and finally out of the country. It's the first three i'll be thinking about and should choose (at least) one to go on. ( the church also offers financial assistance to let people be able to go to these things, so that's nice! )

Memorize 12 Scriptures - or sets thereof, for shorter ones.

Donate Blood - as often as possible. Don't know that 'every month' is actually allowed but, as much as i can!

Choreograph and Learn 12 Songs - one each month. Maybe see about performing one at church but no pressure. Maybe just film one. Again no pressure.

Read 12 Books - again, no pressure! i used to read so much and have read less and less over the years. Some of the books on my list are also quite long. So the kind of sub-goal for this one is to read for 30 minutes each day, probably split between morning and evening.

Complete 12 of my Drafts - whether that's finishing one of the articles i'd started, or one of the short stories, anything that's in my drafts folder is in line to be finished and knocked out.

Complete 12 Crafts - Sewing/Quilting, Crochet, anything

Draw 12 pictures - again actual medium doesn't matter, 'draw' is used very loosely here.

Complete at least French, Spanish, and ASL 1 on Memrise

Complete 12 credits in my schooling

Win NaNoWriMo

Complete 12 Transcription Jobs

And in January,

  • No Sugar for the month - for Mental Health Reasons. So no adding sugar to tea, no ice cream or cookies or whatever, put a limit on processed foods and pay attention to those. Not being super strict and squinting at every little thing, just cutting the Obvious sugar sources.
  • Do the Exercise + Stretching - can't put specific days on this because the schedule's being skewed a bit as i'll most likely be away from home all day at least a couple times a week, so my usual format is a bit out the window. But don't just not do any.
  • Take my vitamins - i've been doing a good job with this recently and am almost out of my frankly vile alive! brand multivitamin. I'm hoping to give HUM a try but that remains to be seen so, just, if i have vitamins, actually take them.
  • Work on my school stuff every day. They provide a suggested schedule so this is less of a Goal and more of a "Heyyyyy i'm doing thiiiiiiiis"
  • Choreograph Lux Vitae and Memorize Related Scriptures
  • Do my daily Bible-Readings
  • Donate that life juice
  • Read for at least 30 minutes a day, specifically working on Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell (  i still think Mr. Norrell & Johnathan Strange flows better but whatever Ms. Clarke you do you )
  • Do my sewing/writing/drawing probably Saturdays will be a good time for that (i'm v tired right now and will be cleaning this disaster of a list up later on when i have fully charged braincells)
  • uhhhh do some of the Memrise every day that's not hard (i've done French/Spanish/Italian simultaneously before and loved it i'm just out of practice)
  • actually do a transcription
  • probably get my eyes checked at some point bc we're Struggling negl
  • do whatever i've got to do to not do the self-harm when things get to that point even if it means being like "Hey ma i gotta go stay up a few ungodly hours typing or looking at Pingu or something because i've got that inclination to rend my own flesh si tu sais ce que je dis" ( though really once it gets to the point where the inclination is there, there's very little in the way of actually stopping it so i need to be more about preventing it in the  first place )

that should be most of it but as mentioned i'll get this cleaned up before the actual Challenge starts. might spin the proverbial wheel and try to fit a them to it (prospective themes: Leverage? Hadestown? February or March will surely be Dinosaurs) tomorrow will be an Away From Home day so i don't have any plans for it aside from school work. and hopefully an early away-to-bed tonight! i've been ready for Sleep since 5pm XD

Still left to do before the Challenge actually starts, which for me will be on the 1st and end on the 31st,

  • draw up plan for a daily schedule of sorts, nothing too rigid. i've learned that mornings are critical for actually getting going on things, and that afternoons i tend to lose energy pretty rapidly so that needs to be accounted for. also under consideration for this is limited screentime on Saturdays. ( i can have the laptop on for music/tutorial purposes while sewing/crafting/whatever but no general OwO at the screen )
  • figure out grocery list, factoring in the need for packed lunches on the away-from-home days. probably the sweet potato + greens + onion format and/or hummus wraps. in one of those "the entire concept of eating is gross and off-putting and i Do Not Want" dips at the moment so planning's a little difficult, but gotta do it.
  • final house-cleaning session of 2019
  • there was something actually important i was going to put here but now i've forgotten
  • forgot to mention a 'rule' i've got for 2020, and that i've been putting to use recently anyway, is that on any given day i can have a "just don't wanna" and skip one or some or pretty much all of the stuff i'm supposed to do and it's fine. the only thing that's not allowed is two "don't wanna" days in a row.

Following along.

My church is doing 21 days of prayer and fasting in January, which could coincide with your first goal. They are recommending a Daniel fast, which is why I'm going to post a link. With you not eating meat and the other requirements you listed, the Daniel fast info they are going to post on the 5th will probably help you conceptualize grocery lists and such. There will also be devotionals posted M-F for that three weeks.

One of the farthest-away, non-chaperoning trips without actually leaving the country is to New York of all places! Which would be by far *sam voice* the farthest away from ome i've ever bean. No concrete details yet on that one but i'm psyched to go on any of them, whichever one will have me :D

Today: i'm out of the house all day and am currently sat in a little breakroom at the hospital where momsuce works. Been up since 4am 😱 made good progress on my school here, though. The wi-fi's so much better. Got some anxiety going on that i'm combatting with cello music in my headphones and the occasional break for Moomin episodes <.< I'm about halfway through the first section of Human Relations, which the exam for isn't due until Jan. 2nd, so that's nice!

How you feeling ?

What cello music you listening to?

Finally, my tattooist does LOADS of moomin tattoos on his customers, he is a pro....ill show you some if you like? :) xx

Heeeeeeey Sal! ❤️ Great to see you!

I'm okay right now! Listening to a classical mix on youtube and very much enjoying it ^_^

Oh, i would love to see some moomin tattoos! hehe, i almost want a little Snufkin tattoo myself XD

-------------------------------------------------

Just did my next exam! Got a 95 on it but then did the optional retake (they change all the questions) and got  hundred ;} this whole section has gotten me a bit flustered as  for 'Human Relations' it is very capitalist and has just made some statements that don't sit well with me at all, but i can hardly be choosy and just have to grumble my way through it. They outright define having a 'positive attitude' by your willingness to do extra, unpaid work for your employer, give up your weekends, all that sort of thing. They've implied a distaste for protest and seem to push an agenda of keeping the status-quo where your entire worth is based around traits relating to your work performance. Not agreeing with it. But there are only two more exams in this section and then i'm hoping not all of it will be so in-your-face about it. . . though with Civics next on the list i doubt it  after that, i think is English and then Math 1, so looking forward to those.

Get the questions "right", but don't drink the Kool-aid.  I did so much of that "get ahead" agenda and saw no rewards .....  meh.

For a challenge theme, can you do Dr. Who's Dinosaurs on a Spaceship?

Good for you spotting the problems with this definition! This is NOT a correct definition of a positive work attitude, and @Chris-Tien Jinn is right, overworking yourself rarely brings you any rewards besides burnout, resentment, and a workload you can't keep up with.

Way to go on your scores though!! Knowing the "correct" answers to pass the test is all you need to worry about right now!  ❤️

Thank you mon amie! The curriculum missed a good opportunity with these topics, i think, to give some useful information. But! Like you said, just putting what they want to hear and getting through it is the important thing.

ZERO....WEEK? TIME? WHATEVER IT IS:

So my grand plans of getting started on New Year's Day haven't really happened. The fam was home and had other plans, so i'm starting my challenge proper on Sunday/Monday with everyone else :P had some upset a couple days in a row, including yesterday, partly due to family stuff and partly Just Because, i suppose. Only thing of real Note that happened yesterday was grandad decided to (re)teach us all to play Hearts, so that was fun!

Today i've caught up on my Bible Reading- today's and yesterday's. So that was Genesis 1-7.  That's likely to be all i worry about doing over the weekend, well that and my school stuff and then it'll be on proper schedule Monday. Tomorrow i'll be at momsauce's workplace again, and since it's also grocery day we'll be going grabbing afterward. I don't know if anyone's heard of Misfit Market? The fruit and vegetable subscription? But they've got a 50% off on first orders right now, so as i'll be giving them a try i only have to get some supplementary stuff and a few non-grocery things. Should be relatively low-stress.

Today's Big Event: up at 4am, rode with momsauce and broski to hospital. get into break room, set up to goof off until 8am while my brain finishes waking up do school work. allegedly somebody, somewhere within the hospital, decides to do some smoking in a stairwell. fire alarm starts going off, lights flashing, fire fire fire, everybody looking at each other like

IncompatibleOilyFinch-size_restricted.gi

issue is allegedly taken care of but the fire alarm continues to go off. lights stop flashing and the fire alarm is still going off. da-ding! da-ding! da-ding!
pretty sure this is a literal actual honest-to-god torture technique and any time now somebody's going to come in and start asking where i've hid the sapphire monkey or something
and when they ask i'm probably going to tell them.
i'm going to be dreaming about this noise for the rest of my life
pretty sure next time i go to speak i'm going to open my mouth and it's going to be this sound
i'm never going to not be hearing this sound, ever again, it's become part of who i am.

in other news though THE FIRE ALARM JUST STOPPED AHHHH I'M SO HAPPY I COULD CRY ahem in other news though, vegetables and vitamins have been ordered. don't know if the vitamins have actually gone though, the website's being weird and i've not gotten the email yet. That's got me anxious in case anything's gone horribly wrong. Feeling all wrigglysquirmy sickish but part of that is just from not being at the house where i can be Alone if i want to. I'm sure everything will be fine. Edit: *narrator voice* Everything Turned Out Fine. But She Stayed Wrigglysquirmy Because She's Cool Like That.

So now i'm nice and late actually getting started on anything, i'll do my Bible Reading (brought a Bible with me!) and then get at least one exam done today. ❤️

Fire alarms in Hospitals are NO JOKE. I've had to sit through them going off for no reason before. Can confirm it's torture, 0/10, would not try again.

Oh bless your soul Tank i don't know how you stood it 😱

Glad the alarm stopped and your groceries went through :) xx

Me too! ❤️

---------------------

Got all the extra additional groceries - the box won't even ship until Wednesday, so it won't arrive until closer to the next payday. Might take a couple of shipments to get it on a good schedule. All i still need to pick up is some tortilla wrap...things...from Aldi - they have some nice gluten free ones! I've got stuff to make pasta, vegetable wraps, and my fall-back meal of sweet potato + greens + onion + crunchy (walnuts!).

the being out of the house for school stuff is sorted. i can't hang with it at the hospital but we found out the library will accommodate the need for better wifi on some of the assignments. It's come to my attention that i just don't deal well being somewhere all day with no option to go be alone if needed, so we're starting with just one day a week, probably wednesdays, and will go from there. (the school stuff can work at the house, it's just much slower and for the video stuff, the better wifi is helpful)

momsauce and i are going back to the city today for errand-running, so nothing on today's schedule except to see what there's time to do when we get back. Certainly some reading. Then church tomorrow, first of the new year! Sunday Evening classes don't start until the next week, but we might still spend the day and attend evening service.

and on the subject of momsauce, she's off-and-on miffed with me about the self-harm. she noticed the latest round (from the end of the previous challenge) a day or two ago and initially got angry, wouldn't talk to me for a bit. That's settled but it came up again today, calmed down again quickly so things aren't tense or anything. But i do hate to upset her so much, and it's awkward not having a good explanation to offer. Have to make a real effort to Stop.

Just remember, the self harm is a symptom of something else. If you want to stop, the solution is not to decide not to do it anymore, the solution is to understand what leads to self harm and dealing with that.

Challenge Day One Jobs:

No Sugar today
Do today's Bible Reading/Copywork on memorization verses
See about blood donation. Objective: Check whether there are any mobile blood drives coming to my town and, if not, see about making an appointment in the city.

Decide on the Gloss for the first verse of Lux Vitae

Do a level of Memrise if the internet lets me

Read for 30 Minutes

Do my exercise...and go for a walk if the weather permits (it's currently frigid, at least for these parts)

Do my next exam, again if wifi allows it but i think it will since there's no video required.

Wash my bedding

Give the kitchen a good straighten-up

Update my little sloth plannerbook
Oh, and, drink water. Lots of.

Now as far as my sewing/drawing/transcription tasks and the like are concerned- depending on how i do with the exam today, i can try to do a transcription job on wednesday while broski and i are at the library (which we finally just asked and it turns out they're totally cool with us hanging out all day for work/school/they really don't care since we're adults and not tearing stuff up  they even have dedicated rooms for that sort of thing, so that's nice! ) or else on a sunday when momsauce and i are at the church all day. sewng and drawing and artsy stuff are planned for Saturday but of course can be done any time in the meanwhile too :3

it's only 7:50 in the morning right now, so i have some breakfast in the oven and will give myself some time for my actual person-ness to boot up before getting to getting, no later than 8:30, 8:45 at most.

Oh! Forgot to mention, something funny happened yesterday.

Momsauce went in to get a hair trim and, as the job i did myself was uneven, especially in the back, and there was a special on to get haircuts for cheap, i decided to get one as well. And i asked for that kind of, bit fluffier on top and shorter everywhere else thing.  The person doing the haircut was not only skeptical about shortening my hair very much, but went over to momsauce for parental consent to proceed  mom had to tell her i'm 23 i can get whatever haircut i want XD Although then later on when i actually found the picture of what i had been going for, but didn't wind up with, momsauce did joke that no nevermind i'm not allowed to get a 'boy haircut' 😂 i'm still pleased with how it turned out!

Somewhat Unnecessary update but uhhhh MISTAKES WERE MAAAAAAADE i was given to understand that the big vegetable box wouldn't be shipping until wednesday, which would have it arrive at the middle-point between paychecks, except i misunderstood my own misunderstanding and somehow also thought it was supposed to arrive like, next Wednesday? So, the 15th, which would be like two days before the next payday so i thought i needed some supplementary groceries in the meantime while waiting for it to arrive.

Yeah no it shipped today, expected delivery date, WEDNESDAY. DAY AFTER TOMORROW. 25LBS OF PRODUCE. Ahhhhhhh it's not a problem really because i can just do a cooking day to cook and freeze some of it surely but i can't believe i misunderstood so thoroughly XD And now we're going to have all kind of Extra groceries but i mean? At least it's all whole fruits and vegetables 😂

Hey Mia ❤️

Regarding your mum and self harm...i understand. I can still see the faces of my parents when i told them about my own cutting. :( i feel i saw my dads heart break. Shit. Horrible. Obviously im not a parent, but im sure its not nice for them to see us in pain. Can you talk to your mum about it? Or is it the case of her seeing it, and then you both ignore it??

I cant really talk to my parents about it, which is a shame. But you know, i dont really do it anymore, since that amazing therapy i had. You will get there one day soon Mia ❤️ i promise. Keep working on it, keep sharing with us and we will support you and love you no matter what xxx
